Chapter 375 The Gift

The next morning, Daphne got up, washed up, and was about to check on Charles when she saw a message from him: "Daphne, I had to go out for something. I'm with Mark, don't worry."

Daphne texted Charles, asking if he'd be back for lunch. He replied that he wouldn't. She then messaged Mark, asking him to take care of Charles and let her know if anything came up. Mark replied, "Got it."

Feeling relieved that Charles was with Mark, Daphne was about to make breakfast when Benjamin came over and called her for breakfast.

"I'll handle your meals from now on," Benjamin said, knowing she wasn't great at cooking. "So don't bother making food."

"No need," Daphne instinctively refused.

Benjamin looked at her and reminded her, "Daphne."

"Yes?" she responded.

Benjamin smiled. "I'm your boyfriend."

Daphne nodded. "I know."

"It's my job to take care of you," Benjamin said lazily. "Or are you planning to reject my kindness and dump me later?"

Daphne quickly denied it. "No."

She was committed since she had accepted his confession. Being fickle wasn't her style. But remembering what Emma had told her, she hesitated before asking, "Benjamin."

"Yes?" he replied.

"When are you going to quit and go back to your family business?" Daphne asked seriously.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to get rid of me?"

"You joined HorizonTech Group and became my assistant to pursue me, didn't you?" Daphne said calmly. "Now that you've succeeded, it's time to go back and inherit your family business."

Benjamin paused, looking at her. It didn't make sense; Daphne shouldn't have figured out his intentions on her own.

"What's wrong?" Daphne asked, feeling uneasy under his gaze.

Benjamin asked directly, "You know I joined HorizonTech Group to pursue you?"

"Emma and Kevin told me a couple of days ago," Daphne admitted.

Benjamin smiled. He knew it; Daphne wouldn't have figured it out on her own.

"My dad runs the Reynolds Group, so I don't need to worry about it," Benjamin said seriously. "My job is to take care of my girlfriend."

Daphne didn't say anything more and focused on her breakfast.

After breakfast, Daphne planned to go over the documents Benjamin had brought back. Before she could leave, Benjamin called out, "Daphne."

She turned around and saw Benjamin holding a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses.

"A gift for our relationship," Benjamin said, handing her the flowers with a warm smile. "The color might not suit our situation, but I know you prefer it over bright red roses."

To them, colors didn't matter. What really mattered was what Daphne liked. If she liked it, that was all that mattered.

Daphne paused, then took the bouquet, feeling warmth in her heart. "Thank you, Benjamin."

"Do you like it?" he asked.

"Yes," she replied.

"Give me a kiss," Benjamin said with a charming smile, his voice low and enticing.

Daphne was stunned. A kiss?

Benjamin gently flicked her forehead, full of affection. "There's a gift in the middle flower. Aren't you going to take it out and see?"

Daphne looked closely and saw a necklace.

She had never been into necklaces, earrings, or bracelets. Except for formal occasions, she never wore such jewelry.

So, she hadn't bought any over the years, and the latest models from brands went straight to Lydia.

But looking at the necklace nestled in the flowers, she found herself liking it.

Daphne took it out and saw the complete design, smiling happily.

Seeing her smile, Benjamin knew he had chosen the right gift. Girls all liked to feel loved.

Although Daphne was excellent in every aspect and took care of others, at the end of the day, she was just a girl who needed to be cherished and loved.

Daphne was very touched. "Benjamin."

"Yes?" he replied.

Daphne's eyes flickered, and she stood on tiptoe to plant a light kiss on his cheek.

Benjamin didn't expect it and was momentarily stunned. The kiss felt like a feather gently brushing his heart. Before he could fully savor it, Daphne had already run off with the flowers.

Benjamin watched her flee, raised his hand to touch the spot she had kissed, and his smile grew wider. Daphne was his now, so he didn't chase after her.

Daphne seemed indifferent, but in matters like this, she was shy. As her boyfriend, he needed to consider her feelings.

Daphne only realized what she had done after she returned to her room and closed the door. She felt very nervous, her mind replaying the moment she stood on tiptoe to kiss Benjamin.

She raised her hand to pinch her brow. 'How did I lose control and kiss Benjamin?' she thought.

After calming down, Daphne placed the flowers in her study and opened her phone to search for gift ideas for boyfriend. After browsing for a while, she found nothing suitable.

She decided to open her Facebook chat with Emma and Zoey to ask for their advice.

Daphne: [What do you think is a good gift for a guy?]

Emma: [?]

Zoey: [?]

Daphne: [?]

Daphne sent a question mark along with them.

Emma felt anxious: [Who are you giving a gift to?]

Emma thought, 'Can it be Charles? Or someone else? Does Benjamin know?'

Daphne: [It's not for me. A friend wants to give her boyfriend a gift but doesn't know what to choose.]

Emma wanted to ask if this friend was actually Daphne herself, but then she remembered that Benjamin had said he would solve Charles's issues before confessing to Daphne, so she didn't suspect anything.

Zoey: [Depends on your friend's budget.]

Daphne: [Price doesn't matter.]

Emma: [Cars, houses, watches, ties, cufflinks, clothes—anything works.]

Zoey: [Cars, houses, and clothes r good 4 any1. Watches, ties, and cufflinks are r 4 biz ppl. If he's into sports, get fav shoes or signed jersey. If he loves gaming, get GPU, PC, mech keyboard, or mouse.]

Daphne pondered over these suggestions. Benjamin should be considered a business person now.

Maybe she should start with a watch. Benjamin's current watch seemed quite old. She could give him other gifts later.
