Chapter 618 I Am Not Your Possession

"I don't know if it was Grandpa and Grandma spreading rumors, but not long after they visited Mom, someone at school called me a bastard," Molly's voice was still soft when she said. "That's when the teacher told us that."

Austin's heart sank. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't tell Mom either," Molly, wise beyond her years, was just as mature as Louis.

Austin pulled Molly into a tight hug, feeling a wave of guilt and sorrow. "I'm so sorry."

"If you really want to marry Mom, the first thing you need to do is deal with Grandpa and Grandma," Molly said, her tone now completely indifferent to her grandparents. "Mom needs to feel secure."

"Okay," Austin agreed.

"And don't go asking Mom about this. She doesn't want to talk about it," Molly added.

Austin nodded repeatedly.

That night, Austin went to find Daisy.

Seeing him, Daisy didn't think much of it and asked plainly, "What's up?"

"I need to go back to Ivrea City for a while, not sure how long," Austin told her, planning to deal with his parents. "If you need to go out for a shoot, just call me."

Daisy's red lips pressed together, and she felt a bit stifled. "Okay."

In her view, Austin's return to Ivrea City right after she rejected him meant he didn't want to stay with her. But that was normal—no one wanted to be in a relationship forever without moving forward.

"If you need anything else, you can call me too," Austin added.

Daisy responded, "Alright."

Austin sensed something was off with her. He approached her and gently said, "I know it might seem like I'm leaving because you rejected me, but that's not the case. I want to resolve some things so I can stay here with you without any issues."

Daisy instinctively looked up.

"I promised to be with you for life. Whether you want to marry me or not, I'll stay with you," Austin promised again.

Austin didn't want any regrets in his life, nor did he want to end up like Charles, regretting his past decisions. He just wanted to be with Daisy and stay in love for their entire lives.

Daisy's earlier discomfort vanished instantly. She pressed her lips together and replied, "I won't be joining any film shoots for now. You can handle your business with peace of mind."

Daisy thought he was going back to deal with company matters and didn't think much more of it.

"Okay," Austin responded.

Early the next morning, Austin returned to Ivrea City after informing Charles.

As Austin was leaving, Molly hugged him and whispered in his ear, "Good luck, Dad."

"Thanks." Austin smiled.

He felt his life was already very happy. He had someone he loved and a lovely child. As long as he could resolve the issues between him and Daisy, he wouldn't ask for much more.

That afternoon, Austin returned home.

Seeing Austin, his father, Dennis Hill, and his mother, Selene Peterson, were both delighted.

Dennis pretended to be displeased and scolded, "It's about time you came home!"

"Why are you scolding him?" Selene chided Dennis, then smiled and welcomed Austin, "You must be tired from the long flight. What would you like to eat? I'll have the cook prepare it."

"No need," Austin gently refused. "I came back this time to ask you something important."

Both Dennis and Selene's gazes fell on him, and Selene asked, "What is it?"

"A few years ago, did you go to Gedser to trouble Daisy without my knowledge?" Austin's eyes were on them, watching their reactions.

Selene's expression flickered.

Dennis remained calm, his voice turning cold instantly as he asked, "Did she tell you that?"

"You just need to answer yes or no," Austin had already guessed from their expressions but still wanted a clear answer.

"People of low status will always remain low," Dennis said dismissively, looking down on Daisy. "We never went to see her."

Austin sat down opposite them. "Really?"

"You can ask me a thousand times, and the answer will still be no," Dennis replied seriously, with disdain in his words. "A mere actress is not worthy of my attention."

Austin turned his gaze to Selene and asked seriously, "Mom, did you ever go see her?"

"Dennis already told you that," Selene had regained her composure and spoke directly. "Did she say something bad about us to you? I've told you before, you can't trust people from that circle, but you insisted."

"Did I say she told me?" Austin retorted, "Aren't you being too harsh on her?"

Selene paused.

Dennis frowned slightly. "If she didn't say it, why are you asking us?"

Only they and Daisy knew about the incident back then. If not Daisy, who else?

Judging by the timing, it was right when Austin had achieved his goal. It seemed they didn't want Austin and Daisy together, so they went to trouble Daisy first.

"You said before that if I could make the Hill Group successful and powerful, you'd agree to me and Daisy being together." Austin reasoned with them, "I've met your standards, so why did you still bother her?"

"You brat!" Dennis slammed the table.

Selene was startled.

Austin's face was full of stubbornness.

"Is this what you've learned that talking to us like this for a woman?" Dennis's face was grim as he scolded him. "Even if we did trouble her, so what? Someone with no family background or status, how could she marry into our family?"

"Dad!" Austin was getting angry.

"From today on, you're not allowed to step foot in Gedser again," Dennis commanded, "And you can't see Daisy anymore."

"Where I go is my freedom," Austin's gaze was firm. "Didn't you always say to be a man of your word? Are you going back on your promise now?"

"I'm your father!" Dennis was domineering. "I have the right to decide everything for you."

"I am not your possession. You have no right to decide anything for me," Austin argued with them like this for the first time. "I'm telling you now, I'll marry Daisy."

Dennis slapped Austin across the face.

Selene panicked immediately. "Austin!"

A handprint quickly appeared on Austin's face, and because of the force, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his ear was ringing.

"Why did you hit Austin?" Selene scolded Dennis. "Can't you talk it out?"
