Chapter 656 Dad Can't Afford It
Seeing Diana like this, Louis was a bit surprised. He walked over and chatted with her for a bit. "What did Lon talk to you about?"
"He invited me to his neighborhood to watch a fireworks show, but we should still be at Charles' place in Ivrea City by then," Diana said very directly, looking at the hair clips in the box and thinking about which one was better. "So I refused."
"Don't you like play with Lon the most?" Louis asked.
"We can play with him when we get back," Diana said logically and reasonably. "But this is our first time going to Ivrea City to see Charles."
Louis nodded and didn't say much more to her.
Sometimes he wondered why Diana liked Charles so much. Maybe it was because of Charles' kindness to her, or maybe just his good looks.
"By the way, Louis," Diana suddenly remembered something from elementary school and spoke up.
Louis looked up. "What's up?"
"Which school are you going to?" Diana asked innocently, just trying to find out. "Lon just asked me if I wanted to go to the same school as him."
"I haven't decided yet," Louis lied to her. "Do you want to go with him?"
Diana looked up and replied, "Yes!"
In her mind, if Louis and Lon were at the same school, that would be great!
Louis didn't hide it from her and said directly, "But I don't."
"Lon is a really nice person." Diana still wanted to try. "If we were at the same school, it would be a lot of fun."
"If you want that, you can tell Mom," Louis said, pretending to be a bit unhappy as he left. "I'm going back to my room to pack."
With just a simple sentence from Louis, Diana knew he didn't want to be with Lon, as she expected. After all, Louis had always shown that he didn't like Lon very much.
Daphne and Benjamin let Louis and Diana pack their things themselves. After they were done, she checked to see if there was anything forgotten.
Louis packed everything neatly, not missing a thing.
Diana was almost the same, except she brought a lot of pretty hair clips.
"If you want to come home in the middle of the trip, just call me," Daphne said to Louis and Diana in advance, still a bit worried. "I'll come to pick you up no matter when."
Louis and Diana obediently replied, "Okay."
That night.
Daphne lay in bed for a long time without falling asleep.
Although during the summer, Daphne and Benjamin also went out to play and left Louis and Diana with Gavin, but this time they were sending the kids away, which felt different.
"Don't worry, Louis is very mature for his age. If anything happens, he'll contact us," Benjamin said, rubbing her head to reassure her.
Daphne nodded.
If it weren't for Charles being so good to Louis and Diana, and Diana really wanting to go, Daphne wouldn't allow it, especially since they wouldn't be in the same city.
Seeing the worry in Daphne's eyes, Benjamin added, "It's the Lancelot family, you should be at ease."
"I know," Daphne said rationally.
Marcus, Laura, and Hayden were all good people. Daphne knew that Diana and Louis would be well taken care of. But she still felt uneasy.
"If you're still worried, we can go to Ivrea City in a couple of days to check on them," Benjamin understood her thoughts. Mothers always had more delicate feelings. "It only takes us half a day to get there."
"No need," Daphne suddenly seemed to understand. "Let them have fun."
Early the next morning, Charles arrived.
When Charles appeared, Daphne and Benjamin were quite surprised.
Given the time, Charles shouldn't have arrived so early.
"I arrived after ten last night," Charles seemed to know what they were wondering and gave a simple explanation right away. "It was too late, so I didn't come over."
"Have a seat," Benjamin said.
Charles nodded.
Hearing Charles' voice, Diana ran downstairs and jumped into his arms.
Benjamin, sitting on the couch, looked at Diana in Charles' arms and teased her casually, "Do you like Charles that much?"
"Yes!" Diana said with a big smile.
"How much do you like him?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow.
"Very, very much!" Diana blurted out, and then reassured Benjamin, "But don't worry."
Benjamin looked up. "Don't worry about what?"
"Even though I like Charles a lot, you're still the best dad in my heart!" Diana was very good with words. "I'll work hard to make money to take care of you when you are old."
"Then you need to make a lot of money," Benjamin said in a lazy, deep voice, exuding a sense of ease.
"Okay!" Diana agreed very seriously.
Louis pursed his lips and kindly said, "Do you really want Dad to die?"
"Everyone dies," Diana said seriously, stating her own philosophy. "But I definitely won't make as much money as you. If Dad wants to die early, you should make the money."
With that, everyone's eyes fell on Diana, their expressions somewhat subtle.
Benjamin, sitting with Daphne, said to her, "She really is our daughter."
At that moment, Diana had no idea what she was saying. Many years later, when she remembered today, she always felt embarrassed.
They all had lunch together.
Once everything was ready, Charles took Louis and Diana away.
As they left, Diana happily said goodbye to Daphne and Benjamin, saying all kinds of nice things.
As for Louis, after hugging Daphne, she also hugged Benjamin.
"Only you would send us to a rival," Louis whispered in Benjamin's ear as he hugged him, clearly a secret between father and son.
Benjamin's lips curved slightly. "That's not important. What's important is that I can save money with you gone."
Louis thought, if he wasn't mistaken, their family should be quite well-off.
"We need to cut costs in every way," Benjamin didn't treat Louis like a four-year-old at all. "You two spend too much, I can't afford it."
"You can fool Diana with that," Louis knew Benjamin was doing it on purpose.
"Go have fun," Benjamin didn't tease him anymore and glanced at Diana. "Take care of Diana."
