Chapter 395 What Does It Mean to Run Away

Benjamin swaggered outside, making a beeline for the room where Daphne was holed up. He hollered through the door, "Daphne!"

No response from Daphne. She knew if she stepped out now, Benjamin would probably kiss her senseless.

"If you don't come out, I'm coming in," Benjamin warned, sounding all chill and laid-back.

Daphne froze, remembering that Benjamin was a jack-of-all-trades. Picking a lock? Piece of cake for him.

Benjamin started counting, "Three."

"Two."

Before he hit one, Daphne swung the door open and stepped out, guilt written all over her face.

She figured getting kissed while standing was way better than getting kissed on the bed after Benjamin barged in. On the bed, things could get out of hand real quick.

Benjamin reached out and gave her cheek a playful pinch, "You ran off just 'cause I was gonna scold you, huh? Tempting me halfway?"

"No," Daphne denied.

"Really?" Benjamin asked, leaning in closer.

Daphne panicked and spilled the truth, "Yes."

"If you're gonna kiss, kiss right," Benjamin said, getting so close they could feel each other's breath. "What's the point of running off halfway?"

With that, he pressed his lips to hers.

Daphne's heart nearly leaped out of her chest. Her earlier calmness? Gone.

Benjamin pulled back, gave her head a gentle tap, and in his deep, lazy voice, said, "Go change your clothes."

"Huh?" Daphne asked, puzzled.

Why the wardrobe change?

Benjamin said softly, "I'm taking you to meet my childhood buddies."

The date plan was scrapped, so he had to switch things up.

Evan and the gang were their mutual friends, so no big intro needed. But his childhood pals? They were a big deal, and he had to introduce Daphne to them.

Daphne got ready and headed out with him.

They planned to meet at a restaurant.

In the private room, Chris was chilling with a cute girl.

The girl was tiny, about 5 feet, making her look even smaller next to the 6-foot-tall Chris.

"When Benjamin shows up, act like you've had a crush on him since forever and confess," Chris said. He was still salty about Benjamin planting a virus on his phone, making his mom chase him around. Perfect time for payback.

Sierra Anderson snapped, "Did you forget your meds today?"

Confess to Benjamin? Was he nuts?

"Just help me out, please," Chris begged, shaking her arm, eyes pleading. "If you do, I'll buy you anything you want!"

"I've got money," Sierra shot back, unfazed.

"I'll grant you one wish!" Chris said.

"Not interested," Sierra replied coolly.

"Sierra, come on, I got beat by my mom 'cause of him. Help me out," Chris pleaded.

Sierra glared at him and said simply, "Scram!"

Chris hummed twice, starting to threaten her, "If you don't help me, I'll spill the beans about your crush on that Fisher kid."

"You wouldn't dare!" Sierra snapped angrily.

"Try me," Chris said shamelessly.

Sierra clenched her fist tight, glaring daggers at Chris while feeling a wave of bitterness. This idiot! Such a moron!

"If you agree, I'll keep this secret forever and grant you one request," Chris said seriously, raising an eyebrow. "Deal?"

Sierra socked him, which was her roundabout way of agreeing. "You better keep your word."

As they were bickering, Daphne and Benjamin strolled in.

The moment they walked in, Sierra's eyes landed on Daphne, a flicker of amazement crossing her face.

She was curious, how did Benjamin snag such a gorgeous girl?

"Daphne, we meet again," Chris greeted enthusiastically, giving Sierra a subtle nudge with his elbow.

He wondered if Benjamin had confessed to Daphne yet.

Even though Benjamin hadn't admitted it and said Daphne was just his boss, Chris was a hundred percent sure Benjamin liked her!

"My childhood friends, Chris and Sierra," Benjamin introduced them to Daphne, then introduced Daphne to them, "Daphne, my girlfriend."

They exchanged quick hellos.

Chris gave Sierra a meaningful look, making Sierra want to punch him!

But she couldn't let Chris spill the beans about her crush on that Fisher kid. Once it was out, there was no hiding it.

"Benjamin," Sierra called out.

She was only two years younger than Benjamin and Chris. Even though she was already twenty-eight, her petite frame and cute looks made her seem just over twenty, making her super attractive.

Benjamin was about to sit down with Daphne and asked, "What's up?"

"I like you. I've had a crush on you since forever," Sierra said earnestly, feeling deeply apologetic to Daphne in her heart.

Benjamin and Daphne exchanged looks, both wondering what the heck was going on.

Chris was secretly gloating.

"Can I sit with Daphne for this meal?" Sierra added, "I kinda like her too."

Before Benjamin could say anything, Daphne agreed.

Even though Sierra had just confessed to Benjamin, for some reason, Daphne still had a good vibe about her.

After they sat together, Sierra first apologized to Daphne, then spilled the truth to Benjamin, "Don't get it twisted, I don't really like you. Chris made me say it."

With one sentence, she grabbed the attention of all three.

Chris didn't expect Sierra to throw him under the bus but didn't feel the least bit awkward. He shot back, "Who told you to plant a virus on my phone last time?"

Benjamin didn't argue with him. Some grudges didn't need immediate payback.

During the meal, Benjamin and Chris both took good care of the girls.

Benjamin knew what Daphne liked to eat, and Chris knew what Sierra liked. They placed the dishes they preferred closer to them for convenience.

After about half an hour, Benjamin brought up the earlier issue again, "Sierra."

Sierra looked up.

"I heard your family is pressuring you to get married?" he continued.

"More than just pressuring," Sierra replied, a bitter smile on her face.

"I know two great single guys. Interested?" Benjamin said casually, glancing at Chris.

Sierra paused. Didn't Benjamin know she liked Chris?

"A mature and stable one, and a young and handsome one: Evan and Kevin," Benjamin said, trying to provoke Chris. "Although Kevin's family background isn't as strong as Evan's, he's a skilled hacker."
