Chapter 425 I Like Her for Who She Is, Nothing Else Matters

"Sorry," The two finally spoke up. "We were wrong about what we said earlier. We shouldn't have slandered you without knowing the truth. Please forgive us."

"You also slandered Benjamin," Daphne said, only caring about this point. "Apologize to him."

The two of them were instantly angered, but despite their dissatisfaction and resentment, they had to suppress their feelings.

"We're sorry. It was our fault," They said, though discontent lingered in their hearts. "Please forgive us."

"If someone wronged you and then apologized, would you forgive them?" Henry snorted coldly, standing up for the two kids. "From now on, don't come to our house for any reason. Seeing you is annoying."

"Henry, how can you talk like that?" Agnes scolded.

"Henry!" Cecelia called, displeased.

They came due to Benjamin's selection of a divorced woman as his girlfriend.

They intended to mock him, believing that the prestigious Reynolds family couldn't accept just anyone.

But what they didn't expect was that everyone liked this Daphne.

"Before you question me, ask yourselves," Henry said, his face stern, showing no mercy to his sisters. "In the past, we didn't argue with you when you badmouthed Benjamin, but that doesn't mean we're pushovers. Say one more bad word about them, and you'll regret it."

Agnes and Cecelia knew they wouldn't get anything good out of this, so they stormed out in a huff.

In the past, no matter what they said, Henry and Anouk would let it slide to maintain the relationship.

But this time, they hadn't expected the result.

After seeing them off, Anouk looked at him in surprise and said, "You used to ignore them and let them say whatever they wanted."

"That was before. We know what Benjamin is like. If they want to talk, that's their business." Henry didn't care before, but that didn't mean he didn't care now. "Now it's different. Daphne is our daughter-in-law, and we can't let her be bullied."

Anouk was finally satisfied. She had wanted to scold them before but held back because they were Henry's sisters.

Now, it was different; Henry knew how to fight back.

Anouk was concerned about one thing. "Benjamin, were the things you said earlier true? Did Agnes and Cecelia really do those outrageous things?"

"I made it up," Benjamin said, his face calm. "I haven't paid attention to their lives over the years, so I don't know what they're like."

"Then why did you say it so seriously?" Anouk asked, glaring at him. She had believed it just now.

"I just want to show them that on the internet, no one knows what's true or false." Benjamin said slowly, with his own considerations in mind. "As long as I spread the news, even if it's false, their lives will be greatly affected."

Anouk reminded him, "It's fine to threaten, but don't actually do it."

Spreading rumors was illegal and prohibited using them for revenge.

"I know." Benjamin was aware, his lips curving into a smile as he said, "I just wanted to scare them."

"After this, they probably won't come again." Anouk felt a bit guilty towards Daphne and said, "I didn't expect them to come suddenly today. If I had known, I would have had the bodyguards stop them."

"Daphne, I'm sorry," Anouk said sincerely, holding her hand, "I'm sorry you had to go through this today."

"It's okay. Benjamin has already taken care of it." Daphne wasn't particularly concerned about others' opinions and didn't think much of it. "Do you really not mind that I've been married before?"

In prestigious families, such matters were usually taken seriously. At least in the families, Daphne knew, it was a concern.

Anouk genuinely didn't care and shared her true thoughts. "What's there to mind? But if you had a child, Henry and I might have to reconsider it."

"Reconsider what?" Benjamin said, raising an eyebrow and standing next to Daphne.

Anouk paused and asked him, "What do you think? Of course, we'd consider whether you're acting on impulse or if you truly like her."

Despite Benjamin's adulthood, he remained a child to them, given to impulsive acts of love and carried away by his emotions.

If it was just a fleeting interest or an impulse, then when the interest waned, he might care about Daphne's past.

A girl who had gone through an unhappy marriage would find it hard to endure a second failed marriage, so Anouk had to reconsider it.

"Have you ever seen an impulse last for years without interruption?" Benjamin had great skin and an effortlessly attractive, laid-back demeanor.

Anouk was taken aback. That made sense.

Benjamin had liked Daphne for so many years; it couldn't be just an impulse.

Benjamin made his feelings very clear. "I like her for who she is, nothing else matters."

Daphne's eyes flickered, and her gaze fell on him.

Benjamin squeezed her palm and said to Henry and Anouk, "We have work tomorrow, so we're leaving now. We'll come back when we have time."

"Alright," Henry said with a nod.

"Drive safely," Anouk reminded.

They didn't insist on them staying longer as they knew they needed to give the couple more time alone.

Daphne also said her goodbyes to them.

As they were leaving, Anouk handed Daphne a high-quality envelope and whispered, "This has the answer you're looking for."

Daphne was momentarily confused.

Anouk whispered in her ear again, "Nickname."

"Thank you, Anouk." Daphne accepted it.

"Go on now," Anouk said, looking at Daphne with growing fondness, her eyes full of warmth, "Come visit me when you have time, and don't bring any gifts next time."

Daphne agreed and left with Benjamin.

Benjamin drove on the way back.

He glanced at Daphne in the passenger seat, his dark eyes attractive. "What did my mom say to you before we left?"

"Nothing," Daphne said.

"Not even telling me the truth?" Benjamin asked.

Daphne had now learned to lie with a straight face."Really, nothing. She just said she liked the gift I gave her the most, more than what you and Henry gave."

Benjamin believed her.

Daphne held the envelope in her hand the whole way but didn't open it. If she opened it now and Benjamin saw it and grabbed it, it would be a problem.

Around 5 PM, they arrived home.

Daphne immediately slipped into her room, but Benjamin followed her in just before she could close the door, using his body to block it.
