Chapter 464 Proposing to Each Other
"The plan's all laid out, man," Dominic said, nudging him. "Quit acting all confused and lazy. Get to it."
Kevin still looked lost. He picked up the plan they handed him and skimmed through it. Yep, it was all about Benjamin popping the question to Daphne.
Hold up! Wasn't Daphne planning to propose that same day?
"Don't spill the beans to Daphne," Evan chimed in, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses. "Emma and Zoey will find a way to get her to the spot, so keep it on the down-low."
Kevin was a bit taken aback.
Emma and Zoey knew Daphne was planning to propose to Benjamin that day, and they were helping Benjamin?
"What's up?" Evan noticed his puzzled look.
"I thought Daphne had something planned for that day too," Kevin said cautiously, trying to gauge if Evan and the others were in the loop. "Can Emma and Zoey really get her out of the way?"
"They got it covered," Evan said confidently. "They've already got a plan."
Kevin found an excuse to step aside and called them. What the heck was going on? Who was proposing to whom?
Emma picked up and immediately said, "Before you say anything, make sure no one's around; don't let Daphne's plan slip."
"What's really happening?" Kevin saw the others busy in the distance and spoke up. "Isn't Daphne supposed to propose to Benjamin on the 12th? Why's it flipped now?"
"Just think of it as them proposing to each other," Emma said, keeping it simple.
Proposing to each other? What kind of mess was this?
"Only you, me, and Zoey know the full story. Evan and the others don't have a clue," Emma added, knowing Kevin could get mixed up. "Don't let it slip."
Kevin took a moment to piece it all together.
He hadn't really looked at Benjamin's proposal plan, so he was worried about the details. "So who goes first?"
"According to the plan, Daphne gives Benjamin flowers first," Emma said, unsure if Benjamin would catch on. "After Daphne proposes, then it's Benjamin's turn."
"Benjamin really doesn't know about this?"
"Nope."
"What if Daphne's proposal goes through? What about Benjamin's?"
They couldn't really propose twice, right? That'd be awkward.
"It shouldn't be a problem," Emma guessed. "Benjamin's sharp. Even if we don't tell him, with his observation skills, he should catch on to Daphne's proposal."
Daphne's plan was to have them give Benjamin flowers first, then she'd show up in a bear costume with flowers.
Then she'd use a drone to deliver the ring and finally propose under a drone formation and fireworks.
With Benjamin's keen eye, he should notice when Chris and Sierra showed up.
"Even if he doesn't catch on, it's cool." Emma was relaxed and a bit excited to see the drama unfold. "If Daphne's proposal works, Benjamin can still give her the ring afterward."
Hearing this, Kevin felt a bit more at ease. Deep down, he hoped Benjamin would propose first.
That way, it'd show just how much Benjamin really loved Daphne. Kevin just wanted Daphne to be happy.
After hanging up, Kevin got back to work, sticking to the plan.
Meanwhile, Daphne, once the time was set, went to find Sierra and Chris.
Both of them were floored when they heard she was planning to propose to Benjamin. Chris even looked like he'd misheard. "Wait, you're proposing to Benjamin, not the other way around?"
"Yep." Daphne nodded.
"Why?"
"Huh?"
"Is it 'cause Benjamin won't propose to you, so you're taking the lead?"
"No." Daphne knew Benjamin would pop the question eventually, but she wanted to show him she loved him too. "I want to be with him, so I'm proposing."
Chris felt a twinge of jealousy. In his mind, proposing was a guy's job.
But if he knew his girl was planning to propose to him, he'd be over the moon.
After all, it showed she really cared, more than any sweet talk.
"Can you help me deliver the flowers? Emma will fill you in on the details on the 12th," Daphne mainly wanted to sync up the timing with them. "I just hope it fits your schedule."
"Sure," Sierra agreed without a second thought.
"Does Benjamin know about this?" Chris was still hesitant. "What's his reaction?"
With Benjamin's personality, shouldn't he be the one proposing? Why let Daphne do it?
"He doesn't know. It's all hush-hush." Daphne was upfront.
Chris, though sometimes a chatterbox and a bit goofy, was reliable like Kevin when it counted. She wasn't worried about him spilling the beans.
"Alright," Chris agreed eagerly, already looking forward to ribbing Benjamin after Daphne's proposal.
After sorting things out, Daphne left.
Once she was out of sight, Sierra turned to Chris and asked, "Are you jealous?"
"Huh?"
"Are you jealous of Benjamin getting proposed to?"
"Not at all." Chris replied quickly and seriously. "I'd rather propose myself than be proposed to."
He wasn't lying. Knowing his girl would propose to him would make him super happy because it showed she loved him deeply and trusted him with her future.
But in the end, he just needed to know Sierra's feelings. As long as she was down to marry him, he preferred to be the one proposing.
Chris wanted her to know he could make her happy.
"Really?" Sierra responded naturally.
"Of course."
"Then why haven't you proposed to me yet?"
A simple question left Chris stunned.
His previous expression vanished, replaced by pure joy and excitement in his eyes. "What did you say?"
Propose? Sierra was asking him to propose!
"Seems like you don't really want to be with me." Sierra stood up, perfectly in control. "You haven't mentioned proposing all this time."
"I will! I'll propose right now!" Chris blurted out, super nervous.
All along, he thought they hadn't been together long enough for a proposal.
