Chapter 477 That Girl Was You

This whole thing had Benjamin scratching his head. This wasn't part of his game plan. Who the heck added this step?

Totally confused, Benjamin shut his eyes and started counting, "One..."

Daphne let out a big sigh of relief.

She signaled to someone lurking in the shadows, then quickly yanked off her headgear and costume, fixing her hair before Kevin could hand her the roses.

Benjamin, with his sharp ears, picked up on the rustling and the sound of another set of footsteps.

Just as Kevin was about to make a break for it with the costume, Benjamin hit "Ten."

Nobody saw that coming.

"Hold up!" Daphne quickly stopped Benjamin from opening his eyes, but her voice changer was gone with the costume.

Now, her voice was totally natural.

Benjamin opened his eyes at her words, and the first thing he saw was Kevin holding the costume, trying to sneak away, and a slightly flustered Daphne.

Daphne's hair was a bit messy from the headgear, but she still looked like a gorgeous princess. Her makeup was naturally stunning. Seeing Benjamin, there was a flicker of panic in her eyes.

This whole scene left him a bit dazed.

"What are you doing?" Benjamin was a bit thrown off.

Daphne scratched her face with her index finger, feeling a bit awkward.

She hadn't expected Benjamin to count straight to ten.

"Giving you flowers." Daphne's proposal plan was all messed up, so she had to wing it, handing over the roses. "And I want to propose to you in front of everyone."

As soon as she said this, Gavin immediately controlled a drone to deliver the ring to Daphne.

At the same time, hundreds of drones with blue lights suddenly lit up the sky, perfectly arranged according to the program Daphne had set up earlier.

Benjamin's heart skipped a beat.

In no time, the drones in the sky formed a pattern; it was the organization emblem.

After about ten seconds, the drones shifted again, finally forming two stick figures, a man and a woman.

The whole thing was silent, yet it hit Benjamin right in the feels.

He knew Daphne was trying to tell him: no matter if he would return to the organization in the future, she would stand by him through thick and thin.

"What's going on?"

"What do you think? Daphne is proposing to Benjamin; can't you see?"

"Isn't it supposed to be Benjamin proposing..."

As everyone chatted, the drones in the sky suddenly burst into fireworks, colorful and super beautiful!

"Benjamin." Under the fireworks, Daphne began her proposal. She took the ring from the drone, nervously asking, "Will you..."

"Hold up." Benjamin suddenly spoke.

He placed his index finger on her lips, stopping her from saying more. Proposing was something a boyfriend should do.

In her confused gaze, Benjamin pulled out a ring box from his pocket and opened it in front of Daphne.

In that instant, she got it.

"When I was twenty-two, I met this girl. First time, I noticed her. Second time, I got interested. Third time, I fell head over heels." Benjamin dropped to one knee, his lazy voice deeper and more charming than ever. "That girl was you, just joining the organization."

Daphne was floored.

Benjamin's dark eyes were brimming with love. "I wanna give you a lifetime of happiness and shield you from all worries."

"Daphne. Will you marry me?"

Benjamin popped the big question.

Right then, the fireworks hit their peak, as dreamy as it gets.

Everyone around started cheering.

"Marry him!"

"Marry him!"

"Marry him!"

The crowd's chants got louder and louder.

Under the fireworks, Daphne's red lips parted slightly, and with all her heart, she said, "I will."

Benjamin slid the ring on her finger and gently kissed the back of her hand.

"It worked!"

"Benjamin, dinner's on you!"

"Emma, Zoey! Kevin!" Sam walked over, calling them out. "You three traitors!"

Emma looked up and shot back, "How are we traitors?"

"Exactly!"

Zoey and Kevin chimed in.

Sam glanced at the grand proposal, feeling all sorts of emotions. "You were supposed to help Benjamin propose, but you secretly told Daphne."

"What you did was shady," Dominic added.

"You three got some nerve, leaking Benjamin's plans." Evan's tone was slow, also suspecting it was the three of them.

They proposed at the same time; no one would buy it was a coincidence.

"Who said we leaked it?" Emma was quick on her feet. "Daphne set the date for the 12th first."

"That's right!"

"If we hadn't told Benjamin, he wouldn't have known."

"The biggest credit for this proposal goes to us."

"I know you're salty 'cause Daphne didn't tell you, but you can't blame anyone. Blame yourselves for being too close to Evan."

Everyone knew the bond between Evan and Benjamin.

Even if it was Daphne, Evan would have totally ratted her out since it was a proposal.

"Benjamin, wasn't your proposal a bit rushed?" Chris and Sierra also came out, eyes full of teasing. "You even used Daphne's drones and fireworks for the proposal."

Originally, they were supposed to give Benjamin flowers one by one.

But things changed 'cause Benjamin didn't play by the rules, skipping some proposal steps.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow, holding Daphne's hand. "You wouldn't even have had the chance to use them."

"I haven't given my ring yet." Daphne pursed her lips, still holding the custom-made ring.

Benjamin extended his hand, smiling gently. "Please, Mrs. Reynolds. Put it on for me."

Daphne's eyes curved with a smile as she swiftly put the ring on him.

"Have all the drones been pulled back?" Benjamin glanced at the sky, no longer seeing the blue lights.

Daphne nodded. The previous tweaks were to sync the fireworks with the drones.

This way, they could nail the pattern and put on a killer fireworks show.

Most importantly, the upgraded drones wouldn't lose control or crash because of the fireworks.
