Chapter 396 How Could Friends Make Him Feel Both Love and Hate

"Hacker?"

Sierra's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.

Daphne shoved a piece of meat into her mouth, her gaze shifting.

Benjamin never played matchmaker, especially not without Evan and Kevin in the loop.

So, was Chris into Sierra? Was Benjamin doing this on purpose?

"They're solid. If you don't believe me, ask Daphne," Benjamin said, giving Daphne a look that screamed, "Back me up here."

Daphne caught on and said, "Both of them are awesome. Evan's gentle and detail-oriented, super upright, and Kevin's lively and cheerful, with a great personality."

"Really?" Sierra got the hint and played along.

Only Chris was clueless.

But Sierra was confused. Why would Benjamin do this? Chris didn't even like him.

"Yep," Daphne nodded.

Out of the corner of his eye, Benjamin noticed Chris's appetite tanking, and frustration creeping onto his face.

Daphne turned to Sierra, "How about you join us after dinner? They're both free today, so you can meet them."

"Sure," Sierra agreed, all smiles.

"I wanna go too!" Chris suddenly blurted out.

Everyone's eyes zeroed in on him, and Sierra felt a flicker of hope.

"I heard there are two girls who are tight with Evan?" Chris tried to act casual. "Why not invite them too? I might as well find someone to date."

Sierra's hope crashed and burned, and she shot back, "Someone who hits up nightclubs every other day looking for a date?"

"That's not fair. Nightclubs are just for fun," Chris defended himself. "It's not like I'm doing anything shady."

"Yeah, right. Just out there hunting for women," Sierra retorted coldly.

Chris had no comeback. Last time he went out with friends, they pushed two women on him. Before he could refuse, Sierra had caught him.

Since then, he knew he couldn't talk his way out of it.

During the meal, everyone was lost in their own thoughts. During a break, Benjamin asked in the group chat who was free to hang out.

He and Daphne couldn't have pulled this off without Emma and Kevin's help, so they figured they should at least treat them to a meal and spill the beans.

After the message went out, everyone quickly replied that they were free.

Then the private messages started flooding in.

Emma: [Ben, wtf? Thought u were into Daphne. Why bring another girl to our hangout?]

This was super weird! Their hangouts were usually just them, no outsiders.

Zoey: [Benjamin, u change ur mind?]

Kevin: [Benjamin, don't you like Daphne?]

Evan: [What's going on?]

Dominic and Sam also sent their questions.

Benjamin and Daphne were a big deal to them. Seeing them together was what everyone wanted.

So why was Benjamin bringing another girl now?

Benjamin gave a quick rundown and looped in Evan and Kevin. They were good at playing along, so they agreed.

Once everyone got the gist, they felt relieved.

After everything was sorted, Benjamin and Daphne explained the situation to Sierra. To make future contact easier, Sierra and Daphne added each other on Facebook.

After a bit, they paid the bill and bounced.

Daphne and Benjamin hopped in one car, while Sierra and Chris took another.

"So, you really gonna date Evan and Kevin?" Chris asked Sierra, who was chilling in the passenger seat.

"What else?" Sierra shrugged.

"Don't you have a thing for Mr. Fisher?" Chris pressed.

"He’s got someone he likes. My feelings are a dead end. Might as well see other people," Sierra said, all nonchalant.

Chris bit his lip, staying quiet for a moment before saying, "Beg me, and I'll help you get him. I promise you'll win him over."

"Don't bother him," Sierra shot back. She didn’t want to spill her guts. "I don’t want my feelings to mess with his life."

Chris clammed up. He just couldn’t wrap his head around why the Fisher family heir was such a big deal that Sierra had been hung up on him for years.

Meanwhile, Benjamin and Daphne were chatting too. Daphne asked, "Does Chris like Sierra?"

"Probably," Benjamin replied.

"Probably?" Daphne echoed, confused.

"I spend most of my time with the organization and only come back for short hangs with them," Benjamin explained, his voice smooth. "I’m not super clear on what went down between them, but it’s weird that Chris has been single all these years."

"So you wanna test it with Evan and Kevin?" Daphne asked.

"Yep," Benjamin nodded.

Daphne nodded, getting the picture.

They drove to the hangout spot, which was packed with fun stuff.

There was a racing area, a golf course, a tennis court, and even a nightclub-like spot.

This place was a Winston Group special, covering a huge area.

When they rolled up, only Kevin was there since he lived the closest.

"Daphne, Benjamin," Kevin greeted them, eyes curious about their vibe.

They both nodded back.

Daphne saw Sierra and Chris pulling in and whispered to Kevin, "That’s Sierra. Just play along, but don’t overdo it."

"No problem!" Kevin said with a knowing grin.

Kevin was naturally lively, and his acting was spot on. After the intros, he whisked Sierra away for some fun, leaving Daphne and Benjamin a bit surprised.

Chris, on the other hand, was frowning.

"Are you seriously telling me Kevin is that simple-minded?" Chris asked, pretending to be all righteous. "The way he’s so smooth with Sierra makes him seem sketchy."

"Anyway, he’s more reliable than you," Benjamin said slowly.

How could Benjamin say that?

"Sierra’s been with us since we were kids," Chris reminded him, hinting. "If you hurt her, I’ll be the first to come after you."

"And how will you come after me?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow, his tone maddening. "Hack my phone or beat me up?"

Chris almost choked with anger. He just couldn’t get how friends could make him feel both love and hate. When things were good, they were awesome, but when they were annoying, they were really annoying!
