Chapter 352 Confession Over the Phone
"How would you know if you don't try?" Daphne thought for a moment before saying it.
Everyone's eyes were on Daphne.
Benjamin, looking surprised but composed, asked, "You think I should confess?"
"Yes," Daphne replied.
"Why?" Benjamin asked.
"If you don't tell her, how will she know you like her?" Daphne said.
"What if we can't even be friends after I confess?" Benjamin countered.
"Then so be it," Daphne said simply. "You want her to be with you, not just friends."
"No," Benjamin said slowly. "Unless I'm sure she'll be with me, I won't confess. She's too important to lose."
Daphne thought, 'Does he like her that much?'
"What kind of person is she?" Daphne asked.
"Very much like you," Benjamin said, thinking Daphne was blunt.
"Then you can confidently confess," Daphne said seriously. "If she's like me, even if you fail, you won't lose her as a friend."
"Really?" Benjamin asked.
"Really," Daphne confirmed.
"Will she still interact with me like before?" Benjamin asked again.
"I don't know," Daphne admitted. "If rejecting you would hurt you a lot, she might keep her distance for a while. If it doesn't hurt much, she should act the same as before."
Benjamin opened the recording app on his phone and handed it over. "Record what you just said."
Daphne was puzzled. "Why?"
"If she hides from me, you have to help me find her," Benjamin said slowly.
Daphne, focused on helping Benjamin, agreed. "Okay."
In Daphne's view, if Benjamin confessed, it would likely be successful because he was great.
Charles, realizing Benjamin was planning to confess, discreetly texted Mark: [Is everything ready?]
Mark: [Ready.]
Charles: [Start in ten minutes.]
Mark: [Got it.]
Charles thought, 'A confession, huh? I'll join in too. I want to see who Daphne will choose.'
"It's still early; let's play a bit more," Benjamin said, signaling Kevin. "Continue."
Kevin started dealing the cards.
"Heart 9," Emma revealed her card first.
Evan showed his. "Club J."
Charles said, "Diamond 7."
"Daphne," Kevin said nervously. "What's yours?"
"Heart K," Daphne revealed her card.
Everyone looked at Benjamin. Under their gaze, he slowly revealed his card: spade 5.
Daphne had the highest card, Benjamin the lowest.
"Benjamin, truth or dare?" Daphne asked, already knowing what she'd make him do.
If it was truth, she'd ask who he liked. If it was dare, she'd make him confess after the party.
"We've been playing truth all night; no one has chosen dare. Benjamin, why don't you pick dare?" Emma suggested with a look.
Kevin chimed in, "Dare is more exciting."
"Dare," Evan added.
"Alright," Benjamin said, curious about Daphne's dare. "Dare."
"After the party, go confess to the person you like," Daphne said, wanting Benjamin to be happy. "Take us with you."
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, amused. "Are you sure?"
Daphne nodded. "Sure."
"Alright," Benjamin agreed, wondering how Daphne would react when she found out she was the one.
"Why wait until the party ends? Call and confess now," Emma urged, thinking Daphne might forget by the end of the party. Striking while the iron is hot was key.
Kevin agreed. "Yes! Call and confess."
"Wouldn't that be inappropriate?" Daphne said seriously. "Isn't it more sincere to confess in person? Over the phone, Benjamin can't see her real reaction and can't be sure of her true feelings."
In Daphne's view, important matters should be discussed face-to-face. Over the phone, you missed out on seeing the other person's emotions and reactions.
Emma and Evan coughed lightly, hiding their amusement.
"Let Benjamin decide," Kevin said, eager to watch the drama unfold.
"Either way is fine," Benjamin said, feeling a bit nervous.
Seeing Daphne hesitate, Benjamin added, "Or I could call her first and tell her I have something important to discuss in person?"
"That works," Daphne agreed.
Benjamin said, "Then I'll call?"
Daphne nodded. "Go ahead."
Everyone's eyes were on Benjamin as he unlocked his phone, opened his contact list, and dialed the number of the person he had marked as special.
Benjamin's heart was racing. Even though he was prepared for rejection, he was still nervous. He wondered what Daphne's reaction would be when she saw his call. Would she think he dialed the wrong number?
Emma and the others were also nervous, their eyes turning to Daphne as the call went through.
At that moment, Daphne's phone rang. She was stunned and confused, thinking, 'Why is my phone ringing?'
"Daphne, your phone is ringing," Kevin reminded her calmly, though he was nervous too.
Daphne knew her phone was ringing. She thought, 'Could it be that Benjamin likes me? If so, should I answer the call?'
Under everyone's gaze, Daphne, with mixed feelings, took out her phone and saw the caller ID. Charles?
Emma, Evan, and Kevin were all puzzled. They immediately looked at Benjamin, clearly asking what was going on.
Did Benjamin not call Daphne?
