Chapter 65 Without Hesitation, Sending You to Death

One thing was already enough to irritate her, and she didn't want to explain a second thing.
This month, it seemed like it was going to be filled with setbacks; otherwise, wouldn't things go more smoothly?

Rex sensed that something was off, "What happened?"

"Just listen to me, please." Daphne responded. Although Rex had doubts, he didn't ask anything further. Whatever her reason, they would find out later.

An hour later. The surgery was completed. Kayla was transferred to a regular ward, and the doctor briefed the two of them on the situation.

"The patient lost the baby, and there are several abrasions on her body, but other than that, there are no major issues."

"The baby?" Rex was surprised.

He instinctively looked at Daphne, who remained calm, and for the first time, his heart felt a slight tension. Could this baby be Charles'?

Daphne didn't answer his question; she just thanked the doctor, "Thank you, doctor."

After speaking, he walked towards Kayla's ward. Rex followed closely behind her and couldn't help but ask on the way to the ward, "Is this child Charles'?"

"I don't know." Daphne answered truthfully. Although Charles claimed that he never slept with Kayla, no one except them knew for sure.

Rex was thinking that this was going to be trouble. If the child, Kayla had lost, was Charle’s, then things were not going to go well when he arrived.

"I'll make a phone call." Rex, had to make Charles come over. so that he could ask him face to face. "You go ahead, I'll be there soon."

Daphne knew he was going to call Charles and didn't stop him. After what happened, she couldn't be bothered anymore.

When she arrived at Kayla's ward, five minutes later, Kayla was already awake. The nurse had just finished giving her an IV drip.

"Where's Charles?" Kayla spoke as soon as she saw Daphne.

Daphne, couldn’t believe those were Kayla’s first to her. How audacious of her to ask.

"The person who drove earlier, the one you found secretly behind Charles, right?" Kayla spoke softly, but her eyes were fixed on Daphne. "What do you think would happen, if I told him that your secret lover, hit me to get back at you?"

Daphne was confused, but she kept it to herself. Doesn't Kayla know Rex?

"I don't want to frame you, but I won't feel safe, until I have completely severed all your ties with Charles," Kayla said in front of Daphne. "I have to be with him, and he can only be mine."

"The car has a black box recorder," Daphne said, uttering just that.

Kayla smiled. "Do you think Charles will believe your black box recorder or believe what I say?"

She knew her injuries, as well as the child in her womb, would stir Charles' protective instincts.
She never expected to get pregnant, from her little encounter, before returning to the country.

She couldn't keep this child, even if Charles thought it was the result of the abuse at the hotel and didn't care, she wouldn't keep it. Not caring now, well it didn’t mean that she wouldn’t care in the future. The best way to get rid of this child, was to use Daphne.

Daphne clearly didn't even have any emotional fluctuations. She didn't even have the mood to argue. Of course, Charles would believe what Kayla said.

He had already dismissed the evidence, found before as fake, and he would definitely say that the black box recorder was forged by Daphne.

"Were you not afraid that the car wouldn’t stop, and will kill you, or leave you disabled?" Daphne asked calmly.

"If I die, I will live forever in Charles' heart. If I'm disabled, Charles will cherish me even more." Kayla took an extreme stance. "Either way, it's worth it."

Her life had already become like that. If she couldn’t hold onto Charles tightly, her future days would be even more hellish. That person wouldn't let her go. He would torment her day and night, making her suffer.

It's better to die. Charles was her lifeline. No matter the cost, she had to hold onto him!

"You better hold onto him tightly," Daphne said without warmth, "don't let anyone take him away from you."

"No one can take him from me!" Kayla blurted out.

Daphne looked at her with pity. Living like this, alone, was truly miserable. She shared a new discovery with Kayla, her words still as plain as before, but with a hint of emotion at the end.

"Who told you I wanted to take him?"

"What do you mean?" Kayla narrowed her eyes.

"Your accident, your experience at the hotel," Daphne revealed, "if it wasn't someone targeting you, why would those things happen?"

And there was her assault. She had Kevin look into it, but the results were far from what she expected. The person behind it was hiding too well; since it wasn't easy to investigate on her end, she might as well tell Kayla and let Charles investigate.

If Kayla were the only one in trouble, it could be attributed to Charles' enemies seeking revenge. But not only did Kayla get into trouble, she had also implicated Daphne. This was definitely the work of someone who admired Charles.

"Do you know who it is?" Kayla furrowed her brow.

"I don't know," Daphne wished Charles could be more efficient, with a hint of emotion, "you can ask Charles to help you investigate."

It was laughable, really. She was actually willing to let Miss Baker go to Charles. Looking at Kayla's expression, she had a moment of hesitation.

Kayla didn't doubt Daphne's words, since their first meeting at the hospital, she knew that the accident wasn't Daphne's doing.

Though she didn't like Daphne, after a few encounters, she had an idea that she was someone who didn't bother with lies. She didn't want to hurt Daphne, unless she was forced to. But she didn’t seem to have any other options.

"Daphne, I'm sorry for what happened today," she suddenly spoke, "but please forgive me, I still have to frame you."

"I never knew what a scheming bitch looked like until now," Daphne said lightly, "but now I know. You fit the bill perfectly."

Kayla was infuriated. "Say it again!"

"You can be its spokesperson," Daphne said slowly, "I've never met someone who is so duplicitous, opportunistic, and loves to put on a show like you."

"Daphne!" Kayla was getting angry. Daphne didn't respond, she was waiting for Rex to arrive.

Kayla was a reminder to everyone, if you encounter someone like her who engages in this kind of scam, report it to the police immediately, preserve the scene, and don't let the extortionists get away with it.

It wasn’t until ten minutes later that Rex finally arrived. He didn't introduce himself, but scolded Kayla a couple of times. He was the type of person who wouldn't go easy on someone, just because they were a patient. If it weren't for his quick brakes and slow speed, this person's life would have been lost today.

"Why are you like this?" Kayla, was infuriated by the accusation, her anger burning inside her.

"If you're looking for death, no one can stop you." Rex still had that careless demeanor, sitting with his legs propped up on the chair. "If you try to scam me again, I won't hesitate to send you to your death."
