Chapter 88 The Stunning Daphne
The men laughed. "Don't worry about being upset; we'll make you feel better," one teased.
"Come with us. We'll show you what joy feels like," coaxed another.
They all reached for her, their eyes glinting with a predatory excitement.
As one hand dared to reach for Daphne's chest, she grabbed the wrist with all her might. "Ow!" the assailant yelped in agony, his voice trembling, "Stop! Let go, or else you're gonna regret it!"
Alarm spread through the others as they realized something was off. In an instant, they swarmed her.
But Daphne was ready.
With a swift kick aimed at the nearest thug, she connected with a thud. The man's body slammed against the wall, emitting a dull echo.
As the rest closed in, Daphne threw punches, no hesitation, no fancy moves—just straight blows to the face, venting her frustrations with every strike.
"Wham!"
"Augh!"
Each attacker that approached was met with a swift beating. For Daphne, these unskilled brawlers required no special techniques; all it took was a hearty dose of knuckles and kicks.
"Damn! Who is this chick?"
"We're getting schooled today."
They muttered under their breath.
The last of them, not yet in the fray, grabbed an iron rod swinging for Daphne as if a weapon would turn the tide. But the reality was harsh.
Just as the rod came down, Daphne caught it with a deft move, snatched it, and used it to land a couple more hits. Down went the man, howling in pain.
"What the heck is going on over there?"
"Isn't that the bully who's always hassling girls at the bar?"
"Why doesn't anyone stop him?"
"Such matters are hard to handle—tough to investigate, and harder to find evidence."
Murmurs filled the bar, everyone's eyes drawn to Daphne wielding the rod, captivating them with her icy demeanor and stunning beauty.
What a badass!
Daphne's gaze swept over the group.
Three with broken ribs, two with broken hands, and their faces and bodies peppered with other injuries.
"I'm gonna sue you for assault!" The first guy who had tried to drug Daphne winced, holding his kicked stomach, "After the beating you gave us, you're gonna end up behind bars!"
Daphne dropped the rod with a clatter, the sound making them flinch in fear.
"Do you need me to call the cops for you?" Daphne asked nonchalantly, sitting back on the sofa in the VIP booth, her presence dominant.
This was self-defense.
The assailants exchanged glances, gulping nervously. Quickly, they hatched a new plan.
"Do you even know who we are? Cross us, and you can say goodbye to your life in Ivrea City!"
"Listen, sweetheart," they sneered, "just beg us to let you off, and because you're pretty, maybe we'll make life a little easier for you."
"Think about your family. You might have the skills to protect yourself, but what about them?"
Their threats were relentless.
Daphne had initially planned just to lay them out with a good beating, but now, with her ribs and hand broken, it wasn't a minor injury.
It looked like she'd have to make sure they'd be dining on prison food for a few years.
"Just take my advice if you want to lead a good life from now on." They had already schemed how they would handle Daphne, "Spend one night with us, and we'll let bygones be bygones. We won't hold today's incident against you."
"Okay." Daphne agreed.
Everyone: "???"
The bystanders and thugs were all dumbstruck, struggling to process the sudden turn of events. They hadn't expected her to agree.
Their proposal was merely a stall tactic, hoping to buy time for their boss to show up.
And now this crazy woman had actually said yes?
"You... really agree?" They couldn't believe how surreal it felt.
Daphne remained composed, her eyes betraying no emotion, "Isn't that what you said? That the debt is cleared if I spend the night?"
That got through to them.
They had thought she was all that, but it turned out, she was just posturing!
Here she was, cool as a cucumber, capitulating with such aplomb.
"Let's go, then. Where to?" Daphne stood up, giving them a once-over, already plotting to give them the thrashing of a lifetime once she got the chance.
"Upstairs. We have a room."
"Help me up."
"Damn it, I'm gonna teach her a lesson later!"
Grimacing in pain, they got to their feet, looking at Daphne the way a starving wolf eyes a lamb.
Daphne stood undaunted, exuding a powerful presence: "Lead the way."
Everyone: "???"
They were questioning life itself.
How did this seemingly spineless little wretch muster the courage to utter that command?
"What are you waiting for?" Daphne's impatience was clear, "Lead the way, now."
"Fine, let's go." They replied through gritted teeth, resolute in punishing her to the extent that it would make up for the humiliation they endured that day.
Unsuspecting, they took Daphne for someone who was just trying to save face.
No sooner had they led her away than other girls stepped forward, worried glances cast in her direction.
"Miss, you can't go with them. If you give in to them even once, they'll only demand more," one girl whispered urgently.
"Yes!"
"Don't be afraid. We'll call the cops; they wouldn't dare mess with your family."
Several girls took a stand, all concerned for Daphne's well-being.
Daphne felt a sudden softness in her heart, and as she looked at them, she reassured, "Don't worry. I'll be fine."
"But..." they wanted to say more, but Daphne's determined expression said it all. She wasn't a victim; she was a fighter.
"Say one more word and I swear I'll toss you out," snarled a guy who wasn't too badly hurt, standing up threateningly. "Keep nosing around, and you'll end up dead in the street by tomorrow."
"Boom!" Daphne kicked him squarely and he toppled face-first onto the ground with a thud — a classic face-plant.
"What the hell!" he shouted.
"Still want to make life tough for your family?" she retorted.
"You're asking for it, lady," the group cursed and mumbled angrily.
Daphne stood protectively in front of the other women, her eyes locked on the thugs menacingly. "Is leaving bodies in the streets how justice works here?" she challenged.
"Just keep it up and our boss will make sure you never see the sunrise again," they spat back furiously.
Daphne glanced at them like they were complete idiots. She wanted to pull out her phone and call the cops — these guys' boldness and their mode of operation screamed trouble.
Reaching into her pocket, she remembered she'd left her phone behind.
Not wanting to waste any more breath on them, she simply said, "Another word out of you, and I'll break your other arm."
They remained infuriatingly silent, none daring to challenge her. They were clearly still unsettled by Daphne's skills, especially the man who'd just been kicked.
