Chapter 14 You Had a Fight
"It seems like Mr. Winston and Daphne have a good relationship," Austin noticed something and wanted to probe further.
"Yeah, we've known each other for a long time," Evan didn't hide this fact, "Our relationship has always been good."
Austin muttered a few words in Charles's ear, speaking softly, "It seems like they're just friends. If they had feelings for each other, they would have already been together. Why wait until now?"
"Get lost." Charles felt annoyed in his chest.
Daphne would never bear the brunt of something unjust alone. She would drag along the person who caused her grievances.
She shifted her gaze onto the quiet Samuel, greeted him, and then spoke, "Samuel, I think you're a morally upright and worthy man to marry."
"?"
"?"
Everyone present. No one could keep up with her train of thought anymore.
"What does that mean?" Samuel instinctively looked at Charles and indeed, Charles didn't look good.
"I watched the reality show you appeared on," Daphne brought it up again, using it to mock Charles. "I thought those things you said there were particularly good."
Samuel's mind was a blur.
Austin asked, "What things?"
"They mentioned a question during their chat after completing the mission. Basically, it was about choosing between staying with a crush who came back or staying with a wife. Samuel shared his opinion, and I agree with what he said," Daphne spoke clearly, word by word.
Hearing this, Austin instinctively looked at Charles. Wasn't this about Charles?
Samuel also caught on.
When that question came up, everyone was saying that those who chose the crush were assholes.
He seemed to have said, "He's not a jerk."
Suddenly, he remembered when they were having dinner, Charles suddenly cursed at him, saying, "As a jerk, he still has the nerve to drink."
So, did Daphne watch the reality show in front of Charles?
"What did you say?" Austin nudged his arm.
Samuel, now calm, briefly thought and didn't answer Austin's question. He said to Charles, "Charles, I think your approach is problematic."
"..."
"..."
"You're happy to be praised, right?" Charles grew increasingly irritated.
Considering there were many people around, Samuel didn't say it directly, but he raised his hand and rubbed his weary forehead.
At the time they appeared on that reality show, the divorce between these two hadn't happened yet, so he answered their question from an objective standpoint.
Now that he learned Charles wants to divorce Daphne for Kayla, this decision will surely be regretted in the future.
"I have something to attend to," Charles stood up and gave a reminder to the two, "Don't forget what we talked about."
When he walked next to Daphne, his dark and deep eyes glanced at her, and the following words were said to Mr. Winston, "If Mr. Winston wants to be with her, he needs to be prepared to have his assets divided. The small amount won't satisfy her."
"As long as Daphne needs it, my assets are hers," Evan wasn't joking.
Charles abruptly tightened his hands hanging at his sides. Austin and Samuel also felt shocked. The implications of those words were quite significant.
"Well then, I wish you happiness," Charles left with those mocking words and his heart sank even deeper, unable to find solace.
Evan also left with Daphne.
Daphne looked at him disapprovingly, "Why did you say those things to him?"
"I'm handling things on behalf of Mr. Murphy, he asked me to say that," Evan smirked, exuding an extraordinary temperament, "But your relationship with him is worse than I imagined."
"It wasn't like this before," Daphne leaned back on the seat, "I don't know what got into him today."
"He's jealous," Evan revealed the truth.
Daphne's lip twitched. Without much hesitation, she said, "That's impossible."
This guy only has his crush in his heart. How can he be jealous because of her?
"He's probably jealous without realizing it," Evan analyzed accurately, showing a little more interest, "He'll only realize it once he truly loses you."
"..."
It sounded so real.
"If he asks you to remarry him, you won't agree, right?" Evan asked a more concerned question.
"No," Daphne quickly answered, stating her own thoughts, "If it's really as you said, then it's not my problem. I've given him opportunities in the past six months, but he didn't cherish them."
"That's good," Evan felt relieved.
"When will you return to Gedser?"
"After you get the divorce certificate."
"?"
Evan raised his eyes slightly and smiled politely, "That's Mr. Murphy's intention, and I also have two collaborations to discuss in Ivrea City."
"Okay," Daphne didn't say much.
Evan was a star in the legal field, but he also held a significant position in the business world. He had always been praised by others since he was a child, and her dummy dad liked him very much.
Their relationship was excellent. She wouldn't interfere with Evan's relationship with her dummy dad just because her relationship with him was not good. So, she wouldn't ask him not to listen to dummy dad in the future.
They didn't say much more. Evan escorted Daphne to the iron gate of the villa, and when she got out of the car, he added, "Call me if you need anything, I'll always be there."
He knew Daffy's abilities and believed she could handle her relationship with Charles well. But knowing and believing were two different things, and providing her with a sense of security was another.
Daphne smiled, her lips gently curved, "Okay."
As they bid farewell, this scene was seen by Charles on the balcony upstairs. He tightened his grip on the railing, unable to hear what the person on the phone was saying to him.
He only had one thought now. To grab Daphne and ask her what exactly happened between her and Evan?
"Boss?"
"Boss, are you there?"
"Boss?"
Mark called several times on the other end.
He had finished reporting everything one minute ago, but the boss didn't say a word.
"What's the matter?" After Daphne sent Evan off and came inside, he put his phone down and headed inside.
"..."
For the sake of salary, Mark said: "the news just came from the police that the suspect behind the Miss Baker car accident has been arrested. Would you like to go over there?"
"No."
When Charles went downstairs, he had to ask, "Just let them follow the normal process."
Mark wondered about Mr. Lancelot's attitude change, but didn't ask, "all right."
Charles hung up and came to the living room, and Daphne happened to change his shoes.
