Chapter 658 The New Little Boy

After saying this, Diana seemed to think of something, and her eyes instantly turned red. "Charles, does your heart stop beating?"

Louis, who had been silent in a corner of the room, was helpless.

"Charles wasn't talking about heartbeat." Louis couldn't stand it anymore, put down his book, and walked over. "You don't understand this now, but you'll get it in the future."

"It's getting late, go back to your room and sleep," Louis urged her, not wanting her to discuss feelings with Charles. "You have to get up early tomorrow."

"I'm not done talking to Charles yet." Diana was a bit stubborn about this matter.

"What Charles said is something you don't quite understand yet." Louis was confident in his ability to persuade Diana.

Diana was even more puzzled and began to doubt, "Louis."

"What?"

"When Mom was pregnant with us, did you steal my nutrients? Why do you understand things that I don't?" Diana asked confidently.

"When you were playing games with Lon, I was studying," Louis wasn't afraid of hurting her feelings at all. "When you were goofing around with them, I was reading. When you were being punished, I was doing exercises."

"And then?" Diana continued to ask.

"That's it," Louis gave her a straightforward answer. "That's why."

Diana scratched her head, still not understanding. But Louis must be right!

"Then I'll study hard tomorrow," Diana said, making up her mind. "I won't go out to play."

Louis wisely didn't respond to Diana's words, knowing very well that her promise wasn't very reliable.

Especially since she said this in front of Charles, not at home.

Louis knew Diana very well.

The next day, Diana was determined to study hard and catch up to Louis as soon as possible.

But she wanted to go out and play after studying for just a little while.

Every time, Diana could find a good excuse. "Charles, let's go out and play. I haven't met the kids around here yet."

"Let's go," Charles took her and Louis out.

Charles chose a place with many families and kids of the same age so that Louis and Diana could have enough playmates.

As soon as Charles took them to the playground in the community, Diana quickly made friends with the other kids.

As for Peyton, he had something to do and left early in the morning.

"Get on your knees!" A stern and angry voice suddenly appeared, full of reprimand. "You always play around and don't study. Are you trying to embarrass me?"

A crisp sound followed.

Bodhi Garcia's stick hit the little boy, Caspian Garcia.

Caspian hung his head, his messy hair wet, and a red handprint remained on his cheek.

Diana was drawn to the commotion. From her angle, she couldn't see Caspian's face, only Bodhi hitting him again and again.

"Stop!" Diana rushed over.

Charles and Louis followed Diana's voice and saw her running towards Bodhi and Caspian.

Diana shielded Caspian behind her, raising her little head to talk to Bodhi. "You're hurting him."

"None of your business," Bodhi was not polite to Diana at all. "Where did this kid come from? Get lost!"

"Say it again." Charles's cold voice suddenly appeared, carrying a strong sense of oppression.

Bodhi blurted out, "You..."

The rest of his words were swallowed in his mouth when he saw Charles's face, his previous fierceness gone. "Mr. Lancelot..."

"Child abuse is illegal," Charles glanced at the still-kneeling Caspian, his eyes cold. "Do you want me to send you to jail?"

"I'm just disciplining my own child, it has nothing to do with the police," Bodhi was still a bit scared.

Everyone in the circle knew who Charles was.

If he really wanted to send him to jail, he would definitely find the best lawyer.

"No one will stop you from disciplining your child, but the law will if you are abusing them," Charles reached out to pull Caspian up, then he saw the bruises on his waist.

In that instant, Charles's eyes turned cold.

He lifted the child's sleeve, and his arm was covered in scars.

"Did you do this?" Charles asked.

"He doesn't behave and study . I must hit him," Bodhi swallowed and pulled Caspian behind him. "We'll go back to our home now."

"Aren't you taking him to the hospital?" Diana asked innocently.

Bodhi was about to get angry again. If it weren't for Diana meddling, Charles wouldn't be involved.

Diana, as if not sensing his anger, walked over to Caspian with her short legs and extended her chubby little hand. "Let me take you to the hospital."

"No need," Caspian coldly refused.

At that moment, Diana finally saw his face.

Unlike Louis's maturity and Lon's coldness, Caspian had a sense of isolation and detachment. Even though he was very good-looking, the gloom in his eyes made no one want to play with him.

He was the isolated child in the community.

"You need to," Diana quickly replied, then looked up at Charles. "Charles, can we take him to the hospital? He has so many injuries, it must hurt a lot."

"Okay," Charles agreed.

At that moment, no one noticed that Caspian, standing with his head down, had a glimmer of light in his previously lifeless eyes because of Diana's words, only to return to dead silence shortly after.
