Chapter 256 Daphne's Student, Nina

Although Nina often helped him with things elsewhere, she was still quite familiar with this place.

She arrived at the basement door, entered the code, and opened the door to go inside.

She intended to help Daphne deal with those snakes. After all, she was Charles's ex-wife, and more importantly, K was coming over later.

What if they ran into each other?

Maybe doing something good could soften her heart a bit.

However, when she walked in and saw the scene inside, she was stunned, staring at the basement in disbelief.

She walked down the stairs step by step, looking at the pile of dead snakes. "Did you do this?"

Daphne glanced at her but said nothing.

"Why aren't you talking?" Nina was a bit puzzled.

"Is there anyone else in this basement besides me?" Daphne said, not knowing what kind of person she was and not wanting to say much.

In this place, she should try to stay silent.

Who knew, this girl might have been sent by Michael on purpose.

"You don't have to be so hostile toward me." Nina sat down on the stairs, her long hair making her small face look even smaller. "I'm not the same kind of person as that man outside."

Daphne looked at her.

She wondered for the umpteenth time and thought, 'Do I look like an idiot?'

Nina could enter freely with the code, and she dared to say she wasn't the same kind of person as Michael.

"He helped me before, and now I'm just repaying the favor." Nina thought Daphne was really beautiful and wanted to pinch her face.

So she stood up and walked towards her, her brown eyes filled with a bit of a smile, and pinched Daphne's face.

Daphne was confused and was about to speak when Nina said, "Your face is so soft."

Daphne wanted to push her hand away but found her hands were still tied. She could easily untie them, but if she did, she would be exposed.

Nina smiled. "You're so cute."

She didn't know why, but even though she had never met Daphne before, she inexplicably liked her.

"Take your hand off." Daphne's tone was cold.

"Don't be mad, I just wanted to pinch," Nina let go, sat down on the floor opposite her, and told her the purpose, "Don't worry, Michael won't harm you. He's only after Charles."

Daphne looked at her, waiting for her to continue.

"He kidnapped you to lure Charles out," Nina continued, "Once Charles comes, you'll be free."

Daphne didn't believe it at all.

With Michael's personality, torturing people was the norm. How could he possibly let her go?

"I've already divorced Charles. Even if he tells him, he won't come." Daphne said word by word.

"That has nothing to do with me; it's Michael's business." Nina kept staring at her, curious about how there could be such a beautiful woman in the world.

She really wanted to take her home.

Daphne felt her gaze was too enthusiastic.

Just as she was about to tell her to leave, Nina introduced herself with a smile, "Nice to meet you; I'm Nina Adams."

Daphne's eyes flickered.

Nina?

Was she the hacker she had trained?

Although she was surprised, she didn't show it on her face.

"Daphne," Daphne replied calmly.

"I know." Nina inexplicably wanted to talk more with her, "Are you scared of being alone? I'll go get some blankets and stay with you."

Daphne said, "No need."

Nina said, "You need it."

Not giving Daphne a chance to refuse, Nina stood up and left.

When she asked Michael for two blankets, Michael finally shook off her reverie and returned to her senses. He stared at the blankets in her hands and asked, "What are you doing with those?"

"The basement is cold; I'm going to sleep with Daphne," Nina said matter-of-factly, her face casual, unlike the full smile she had in front of Daphne.

Michael raised his eyebrows slightly, "Do I need to remind you why I have Daphne tied up here?"

"You want a video of Daphne panicking and scared, right? I'll fake one for you later." Nina understood his purpose.

Michael wanted to say more but ultimately let her go.

Before Charles arrived, he could temporarily keep Daphne alive.

But once Charles came, he would make Charles watch Daphne die in front of him, making him feel the pain of losing someone he cared about.

Nina took two blankets and two pillows, laying one blanket on the floor and covering it with the other.

She knew Michael's bottom line—Daphne couldn't leave the basement.

So she had to bring things here.

"You lie down first; I have something to do and will be back," Nina said to Daphne, untying the ropes on her hands.

Daphne was confused, not understanding what she wanted to do.

After Nina left, she went to Michael's study to get a laptop, edited the footage of Michael having Daphne taken to the basement, and sent it to Michael.

"Is this the panic you told me about?" Michael knew Nina tended to compromise easily when she saw a beautiful woman.

But at this time, she still dared to do this.

"Charles has spent time with Daphne; he probably knows her personality," Nina explained thoughtfully, "Instead of faking a scene of Daphne being scared by snakes, we might as well use this video first to test his reaction."

Michael watched the video again.

The ending showed them leaving Daphne alone in the basement.

From an outsider's perspective, one would automatically imagine Daphne being scared and panicking.

"After he responds, I'll make the next video for you," Nina said seriously.

Michael's narrow eyes showed a hint of danger.

He was clearly dissatisfied with Nina making decisions on her own.

"Daphne is crucial to this plan; don't mess it up." Michael reminded. "No matter how much you like that face, you have to hold back."

"Got it." Nina gave a very perfunctory answer.

Michael pinched his brow, feeling a headache for the first time.

He had considered replacing her, but besides K, Nina was the best. Moreover, during their cooperation, he trusted her more.

Daphne didn't expect Nina to come back again. When she saw Nina, she instinctively frowned.

Nina didn't know her real identity, but if they had spent too much time together, she would definitely have been exposed.

Thinking of this, she immediately put on a colder attitude. "What are you doing here?"

"Of course, I'm here to keep you company." Nina sat down beside her familiarly. "When you married Charles, you were the young mistress of the Lancelot family. After the divorce, you're still the eldest daughter of the Murphy family. You probably never stayed in such a poor environment."

"I'm here; you don't have to pretend to be strong. If you want to cry, just cry." Nina patted her shoulder. "You can lean on my shoulder."
