Chapter 483 Leave the Things, You Go Out
"Next year."
"What about the marriage paperwork?"
"Next year." Daphne couldn't figure out why Alexander was asking the same thing again.
"Have you thought about the wedding? Are you gonna reveal your identity first, or just drop the wedding bomb?"
Daphne paused, then got it. "No need."
Alexander and Lydia were both confused, not sure what she meant by "no need."
"We're planning to have the wedding on the lawn in front of his base," Daphne had already hashed this out with Benjamin. "Just inviting our closest family and friends to witness it."
As for the rest, she hadn't planned a thing.
Alexander was caught off guard; he hadn't expected that. "No wedding banquet?"
He had it all figured out; as soon as Daphne set a date, he'd book the swankiest hotel for her wedding, making sure it was grand and lively.
"Nope." Daphne shook her head.
"What about the ceremony?"
"Skipping it."
Alexander and Lydia were both stunned.
Lydia frowned and softly said, "If you don't have a full-on wedding, you'll definitely regret it later."
Lydia pictured weddings as super romantic, but now everything was getting skipped.
"I won't." What Daphne cared most about was the proposal; she was all for a simple wedding.
"Anyway, you're getting hitched next year, so there's still time to think about it." Alexander was also worried she might regret it, as many girls dreamed of a romantic wedding. "If you change your mind, let me know."
As long as Daphne said so, no matter how last-minute, Alexander would make sure everything was perfect, including the invites.
"It's already decided. If it weren't for Benjamin insisting on a wedding, I wouldn't even invite friends to witness it," Daphne blurted out.
She hadn't let Alexander announce her existence before, and it was the same now.
For the rest of her life, she hoped to live more freely.
"Daphne." Lydia was shocked by Daphne's thoughts. "Are you out of touch with the times?"
"It's not about that. I talked to Emma and Zoey, and they also don't want overly grand weddings." Daphne felt everyone had different priorities. "Of course, it could also be that we're really getting old."
To Daphne, a grand wedding didn't mean much.
Some people needed the wedding to make them look good, some to network with more seniors, and some just to see how much their partner loved them.
Of course, some simply liked weddings and wanted to fulfill this wish.
But Daphne didn't care about these things; as long as they were together, nothing else mattered.
"Are you sure?" Lydia still didn't want Daphne to regret it.
"I'm sure."
"Won't you really regret not having a wedding?"
"For those who want a wedding, it would be regretful, but for me, it won't be," Daphne respected everyone's choices and stuck to hers. "When the other person makes me feel secure and respected enough, all I want is being with him.
Hearing this, Alexander and Lydia's eyes both softened.
It was at this moment that they realized Daphne really liked Benjamin.
They also got that Benjamin was like, the perfect guy in Daphne's eyes.
"As long as you're happy, I got your back on all your decisions!" Lydia hugged Daphne, her face all soft and tender. "You'll always be my favorite sister."
Daphne ruffled her hair, her eyes full of love.
Alexander's heart, which had been all knotted up, finally relaxed, and he let out a big sigh of relief.
It was clear that this time he was totally cool with Daphne being with Benjamin.
"Got something on your mind?" Daphne noticed his slight reaction.
"I used to." Alexander was straight-up. "But not anymore."
Daphne looked confused.
Alexander pursed his lips, looking a bit scared. "Don't get mad after I say this."
"Okay, spill it." Daphne nodded.
"Before today, I always thought you picked Benjamin 'cause he was good to you and seemed like a good fit, not 'cause of love," Alexander's mood got heavy again as he spoke, his nose a bit stuffy.
Daphne paused, but before she could say anything, Alexander continued, "But today, I'm chill and not worried you'll regret it."
For a long time, Alexander had been scared that Daphne would suddenly regret it one day.
After all, it's tough to be happy with just one person in love; mutual love is the real deal.
"Don't worry; we dig each other." Daphne gave a solid answer.
Daphne got why Alexander had those worries and concerns.
She was a slowpoke when it came to showing love and affection, and her personality was pretty reserved, making it hard to see her emotional ups and downs from the outside.
But she knew herself well; she loved Benjamin.
Meanwhile, Benjamin just got home.
He had just stepped through the door when Anouk came up, looking around and asking, "Where's Daphne?"
"I left her at home," Benjamin joked.
Anouk gave him a playful punch on the shoulder.
Anouk had someone close the door. "Don't bother to come in. Bring Daphne next time, then you can come in."
"She went home to be with her dad and sister." Benjamin knew Anouk was serious, so he quickly handed over the stuff Daphne had prepared. "She asked me to bring these for you and said she'd visit next time."
"Leave the stuff; you go out," Anouk still said.
Benjamin decisively went in.
He knew very well that if he really went out, he wouldn't be able to get back in today.
"Did you bring gifts for Daphne's dad and sister?" Once in the living room, Anouk immediately asked the crucial question.
Benjamin naturally replied, "I did. I left after dropping her off at home."
In Anouk's eyes, was he that thoughtless?
"That's more like it." Anouk was slightly relieved.
Henry, however, looked disdainful, full of disapproval.
This puzzled Benjamin; how had Henry started disliking him again after just a few months?
"Relying on a woman, and you still have the nerve to come back?" Henry put down his newspaper and took a sip of water.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. "Are you jealous?"
"What's there to be jealous of?" Henry snorted, giving him a sideways glance. "I heard from Chris and the others that Daphne proposed to you. Aren't you embarrassed?"
