Chapter 494 Marriage

"Yo, she didn't just flirt with him; she totally trashed his rep," Benjamin spilled the tea, his eyes gleaming with the juicy gossip.

Everyone turned to Emma, jaws practically on the floor. No one could believe she'd pull something like that.

"Hold up, how did I ruin his rep?" Emma shot back, feeling totally wronged. "I was just messing around like usual. Don't act like we hooked up or something."

"That's the word on the street," Benjamin said, shrugging. "People are saying you stole Emery's thirty-year-old innocence."

"That's straight-up BS," Emma thought Emery was being a total drama queen.

"Should we mess him up?"

"Isn't this defamation?"

"What’s your move?"

The crowd was eating up the drama but also a bit on edge.

In all these years, no one had ever dared to mess with Emma like this.

"If he said so, I'll make it real," Emma was already plotting.

"For real?" Zoey asked, needing confirmation.

Emma lounged back, all chill. "Yup."

Zoey and Daphne exchanged looks and dragged her into a room for a private chat.

Some things were better kept on the down-low.

"We can clear this up," Daphne said. "Don't do anything crazy."

Zoey nodded. "Yeah, think it through."

"I'm not being rash. Emery's hot, and I dig his attitude," Emma said, totally confident. "I'll just treat it like dating."

"Gavin told me Emery's got a nasty temper," Daphne remembered. "Real unpredictable."

Emma thought for a sec. "Yeah, kinda."

One minute he's flirting, the next he's like, "Think I won't break your hand right now?"

"And you still wanna go for it?" Zoey was worried.

"I can handle him," Emma said, totally sure of herself. "Relax, I got this."

Daphne sighed and gave up trying to talk her out of it. "Hit us up if you need anything."

"Actually, there is something."

"What’s up?"

"Help me dig up some dirt on him," Emma decided. "I wanna know everything."

She figured Emery probably already had her info.

Except for some private stuff, she hadn't asked Daphne to hide anything.

So, might as well know the enemy.

"Got it," Daphne agreed.

Digging up info was no biggie for her.

Daphne got to work on the computer. At first, she didn't find much, but after some serious hacking, she had all of Emery's deets.

She didn't even look through it, just sent it straight to Emma.

"Dinner's on me, whether this works out or not," Emma was in high spirits.

Daphne thought for a moment and made a decision. "Hold up, I got something for you."

"What is it?"

Emma was curious.

Zoey was all ears too.

Daphne left the room and came back with a small box, blushing a bit. She handed it to Emma. "Whether you sleep with him or not, better safe than sorry."

Emma suddenly burst out laughing.

Daphne, feeling super awkward, shoved the box into her hand.

Emma handed it back, still grinning. "Nah, you keep it for you and Benjamin."

"You sure you don't want it?"

"Chill, I know how to take care of myself," Emma reassured her, feeling all warm inside.

She was gonna make Emery's "accusation" real, but that didn't mean she was gonna go wild. She could handle herself and wasn't scared of a little drama.

"Don't sweat it. I might be a rookie in this game, but my theory game is strong," Emma joked. "You just focus on getting ready for the wedding at the base tomorrow."

Daphne thought it over and nodded.

Emma was always the sharpest in their crew, and her skills were top-notch.

Even if Emery tried something, he probably wouldn't stand a chance against Emma.

"But let me make one thing clear," Emma said, leaving herself an out.

Daphne asked, "What?"

"If I end up in a big fight with Emery, you two gotta have my back," Emma said seriously.

Both of them agreed.

After their little pow-wow, they headed back to the others.

They were there to talk about the wedding plans for the next day. Even though it was just a small gathering, they wanted it to look nice.

Actually, Benjamin had already sorted everything out.

That afternoon, after everyone left, it was just Daphne and Benjamin in the villa.

Daphne, with her enchanting eyes, looked at Benjamin and said seriously, "Benjamin."

"Yeah?"

"Let's have a baby."

Daphne loved kids, especially the idea of having one with Benjamin.

Benjamin paused and asked, "Are you serious?"

"Yeah." Daphne nodded.

Seeing she wasn't joking, Benjamin agreed.

The next day, they had the wedding on a big field outside the base. Only their closest family and friends were there.

The ceremony was simple, taking less than ten minutes.

Those ten minutes were the result of many discussions between Benjamin and Daphne.

Otherwise, it might have only taken two minutes.

With two "I do's," the ceremony was done.

Gavin, seeing such a quick wedding for the first time, walked up to Daphne and said, "You really just wanted us to witness it?"

"Yeah."

"It's over?"

"Yeah."

Gavin looked around, feeling like it was all too unreal.

In his mind, watching Daphne get married should've been a tear-jerker, happy yet bittersweet.

But now, he felt nothing!

"If you like big weddings, you can have one when you get hitched," Daphne said, knowing what he was thinking.

Gavin waved it off. "I'm not getting married anytime soon."

Seeing his expression, Daphne sensed something but didn't call him out.

She and Benjamin went to change clothes and then joined their family and friends for a meal.

This was the simplest wedding anyone there had ever seen.
