Chapter 488 Is it the meaning she understood

Daphne was freakin' out when she saw him, so much that she blurted out, "Benjamin, what are you doing up here?"

"To get some answers. Like, why'd you kick me out the other night?" Benjamin leaned in, hands on the table, boxing her in.

Anouk had been around for five days, and for four of those nights, he'd been booted out.

Basically, he'd been ditched for four whole days and nights.

Daphne's big, clear eyes stared at him. "I did it for your own good."

"Yeah? How's that?" Benjamin leaned in closer, feeling her breath. "If you can't explain, you owe me for those four days."

Daphne bit her lip. 'Does he have to be so intense?'

Benjamin could read her like a book. "Why so quiet?"

"I'm worried you will try too hard to hold back," Daphne finally said, her ears turning red. "Emma and the others said holding it in too long is bad."

"Emma said that?" Benjamin's tone perked up.

Daphne's internal alarm went off, her heart racing.

Benjamin whipped out his phone and dialed Emma right in front of her.

Emma, clueless, answered all chill, "Benjamin, what's up?"

"What did you tell Daphne?"

"What?"

"She said you told her holding it in too long is bad." Benjamin's eyes stayed on Daphne, his tone casual. "Because of that, she kicked me out for days."

"Yeah, I said that," Emma admitted, stirring the pot. "But Daphne must've misunderstood."

Daphne felt like she was being played. "What did I misunderstand?"

"I meant you should be more proactive." Emma's words were quick. "You two have been close before, and now you're engaged. Just take precautions, no need to hold back."

"But you said..."

"I gotta go, bye-bye."

Emma hung up, feeling flustered. She'd dodged a bullet there.

Offending Daphne was one thing, but crossing Benjamin? No way!

"Got anything else to say?" Benjamin asked.

"She lied to you." Daphne pulled up her chat history with Emma. "See for yourself."

"Even if she lied, you still kicked me out because of what she said," Benjamin teased. "Isn't that a bit much? Hmm?"

Daphne knew she was cornered.

From the moment Benjamin came up to confront her, whether it was her idea or Emma's, the result was the same: she was toast.

"Why so quiet?" Benjamin asked, seeing her hang her head.

"I was wrong," Daphne admitted, still looking down. "I won't do it again."

Benjamin gave her a knowing look; she got the message.

"And if you do it again?"

"I'll do frog jumps and weighted runs."

"You said it."

"Yep."

Daphne was being super compliant.

Benjamin reached out and pinched her cheek, liking the feel. "Alright, we'll do it your way."

Daphne let out a sigh of relief.

It wasn't until dinner that she realized she had the freedom to decide whether or not to sleep with Benjamin.

They were just engaged, and even if they were married, there was no law saying they had to sleep together every night.

So why was she freaking out earlier?

"What's on your mind?" Benjamin handed her a piece of meat.

Daphne pursed her lips. "Nothing."

She decided not to argue with Benjamin. Given his skills, she couldn't win, so she might as well let him have his way.

Thinking this, Daphne felt way better and the food tasted even more delicious.

After dinner, Benjamin went to the study to handle some work, while Daphne read a book by the window. They were both doing their own thing.

At ten o'clock, it was bedtime, and Benjamin joined her to wash up and hit the sack.

With her soft body in his arms, and Daphne giving him a kiss, Benjamin felt a bit stirred.

Daphne noticed this.

Her back pressed against his warm chest, she made up her mind and spoke, "Benjamin, why don't you stop holding back?"

"Sleep."

"Can you sleep? Anyway, we're getting married soon, and we have condoms; it's no big deal," Daphne told him.

Daphne knew why Benjamin had been holding back, afraid that she would worry if her period was delayed.

But that time it was just because her schedule and diet were messed up; normally, she was regular.

Benjamin still didn't touch her, for a simple reason: once they started, who knew when they would be able to sleep?

But not doing anything at night didn't mean not doing anything in the morning. When Daphne was still half-asleep, she felt something strange in her body and heard Benjamin's voice in her hazy consciousness.

When she opened her eyes, she understood everything.

By the time they were done, it was already ten o'clock.

This was more than four hours later than their usual wake-up time.

Benjamin, satisfied, carried Daphne to the shower, gently helped her get dressed, and carried her downstairs to eat, providing full service.

Daphne was too lazy to move; she already regretted what she said last night.

She was exhausted by the simple exercise early in the morning. Why was it more tiring than her training? It didn't make sense.

"Looks like I still need to take you to the base for some training," Benjamin said, seeing her looking sleepy even while eating.

Daphne immediately perked up. "When?"

Daphne asked, "Why? You want to go?"

"Yep," Daphne answered very straightforwardly. If she had been hesitant before, now she was determined.

She would rather be exhausted at the base than go through the physically and mentally draining exercise in the morning again.

"Alright, I'll take you in a couple of days." Benjamin saw right through her with just one look. "You'll spend three days a week at the base, train for three days at home, and have one day off."

Daphne paused her eating. Was that what she thought it meant?
