Chapter 434 When Are We Going to Have a Baby?

"What?" Daisy asked, like it was no big deal.

"The day you had Molly, Austin showed up. I didn't even tell him your due date. He just came on his own," Daphne spilled, trying to help Daisy figure things out. "Before you came out of the delivery room, he hid."

Daisy was floored; she'd be lying if she said it didn't hit her in the feels.

People were emotional, always easy to forgot the pain.

Daisy stayed quiet for a while before finally saying, "It's normal for him to come. Molly's his kid too."

Daphne didn't push it. She knew Austin came for Daisy, and Daisy knew it too.

Since she said that, it meant she didn't want any drama with Austin.

"I'll go talk to him," Daisy said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, still keeping it cool.

Daphne told her to go ahead, promising to keep an eye on Molly.

Looking at Molly, who was sleeping like an angel, Daphne smiled softly. She wanted to poke her cheek but didn't want to wake her.

Unable to resist, Daphne pulled out her phone and shot a message to Benjamin.

To make sure the special notification sound wouldn't wake Molly, she turned it off for a bit.

Daphne: [When are we having a baby?]

At that moment, Benjamin had handed all his work to his secretary.

Seeing Daphne's message, he put his work aside, a big grin spreading across his face as he replied: [Anytime after we get married.]

Confession, dating, proposal, engagement, marriage, pregnancy, childbirth—this order couldn't be messed up.

Desmond, holding some papers, waited and watched Benjamin's face, making a wild guess.

Benjamin was definitely texting Daphne.

"Mr. Reynolds," Desmond called.

"Go ahead and get back to your work. I'll call you if I need anything," Benjamin said, thinking Desmond was getting antsy.

Desmond asked curiously, "I'm not busy. Are you texting Mrs. Reynolds?"

Benjamin thought for a sec, then his eyes lit up with a satisfied smile, and he nodded.

"Can Mrs. Reynolds beat you?" Desmond was curious, remembering Benjamin's criteria for a wife. "Can she protect you?"

"I can protect her," Benjamin said simply.

Desmond was puzzled, standing there looking at Benjamin, wanting to say something but holding back.

Benjamin noticed and asked, "What's up?"

"Didn't you say you wanted to find someone who could beat you and protect you?" Desmond asked, holding the papers but not really focused. "Why have your criteria for a wife changed?"

"You don't get it," Benjamin said lazily, totally chill.

Desmond was super confused.

Benjamin finished his message and looked at him, spelling it out, "When you really love someone, you let them win. As long as it's her, I'm cool with losing."

"I'll leave the rest to you," Benjamin said, handing him the last paper from the drawer. "Call me for any big stuff you can't handle. For everything else, just make a call after thinking it through."

"What about you?" Desmond asked, adjusting his glasses.

"I'm gonna prep for my proposal and wedding," Benjamin said, all chill, standing up with his phone, feeling good thanks to Daphne's earlier message. "Unless it's super important, don't bug me for the next few months."

Desmond felt a bit overwhelmed. Should he remind Benjamin that he had only been at the Reynolds Group for two months? And now he was bailing?

"Mr. Reynolds," he called out.

"What's up?" Benjamin asked.

"Are you serious?" Desmond asked, dead serious.

Benjamin replied, totally laid-back, "Of course."

Desmond thought he could grind hard with Benjamin, but it seemed Benjamin wasn't as career-obsessed as he thought. "Didn't Mr. Reynolds want you to run the Reynolds Group well? I can get someone to help you with the proposal and wedding."

"When it comes to her, I don't wanna delegate," Benjamin said sincerely, "As for the Reynolds Group, just keep things steady."

Given the situation now, Benjamin could do whatever he wanted.

Desmond could only nod, but he was super curious about who could make Benjamin willingly take a backseat.

"Do a good job," Benjamin said, sticking to the idea that good pay keeps good people. "Starting this month, your salary doubles, and your performance bonus goes up by two points."

"Yes, Mr. Reynolds!" Desmond replied, suddenly pumped. "Don't worry. I'll handle the company while you focus on your love life."

Benjamin patted his shoulder and left with his phone and car keys.

Desmond saw him off with a grin. 'Double salary, two-point performance bonus! All money! Benjamin is indeed generous!'

Daphne had no clue that Benjamin had already sorted out the Reynolds Group's affairs. Seeing his reply, she hesitated.

Anytime after marriage?

In about a month, the engagement ring should arrive.

After the proposal, she would take Benjamin to visit Alexander. After one or two months, they could get hitched.

Thinking this, Daphne quickly replied: [Okay.]

After replying, she snapped a few pics of the sleeping Molly.

As for Daisy, she was still chatting with Austin.

After hashing out some basic stuff, Austin seemed to get Daisy's worries. "Don't stress. I won't tell my folks about the kid, nor will I let them find out," he said, trying to reassure her.

Austin knew his parents well. Once they knew Daisy had a kid, they'd do everything to take the kid away.

Molly was Daisy's baby, and no one had the right to take her, including him.

"Thanks," Daisy said. She was really worried about that.

"I've also had someone reassure your parents. I didn't tell them about your pregnancy and childbirth," Austin said slowly, "You don't have to worry about them causing you trouble."

Daisy pressed her lips together, feeling all sorts of complicated, and thanked him again. For most people, parents were warm and loving.

But for Daisy, they had always been nightmares and trouble.

"Austin," Daisy called him.

"Yeah?" Austin replied softly.

"Can you lift the blacklist on me?" Daisy said, looking up at him, feeling a bit stifled. "I wanna go back and chase my dream."

Ever since her fallout with Austin, her agent had told her that the company decided to blacklist her, forcing her to completely vanish from the public eye.

A year was enough for the audience to forget her.
