Chapter 240 Here's a Word for You, Run

Daphne was still in a daze.

She had thought Benjamin's reaction was odd, but she didn't expect Kevin's response to be so intense.

Kevin: [Benjamin is back and brought breakfast for Daphne.]

Emma: [?]

Zoey: [?]

Dominic: [?]

Chris: [?]

They all sent a series of question marks; even Dominic and Chris, who rarely chatted, were shocked.

Emma: [Daphne, listen to me, you should run.]

Dominic: [I still remember the last time Benjamin brought me food. It wasn't a good thing; you should get out of there.]

Chris: [I drank a bottle of water Benjamin gave me, and I ended up running 6 miles with weights.]

Daphne: [...]

Evan looked at the messages in the group and replied: [Is it really that scary?]

Dominic initiated a group call.

The call connected.

Seven people appeared on the screen.

As soon as Dominic saw Daphne had joined, he quickly said, "Daphne, we're not joking. Benjamin, suddenly being nice to you is not a good thing. Last time he saw me being punished and pitied me, so he bought me a meal. After I ate, my training tripled! Do you know what he said to me? He said if I still had the strength to eat, the punishment wasn't enough! He's really cruel!"

Dominic complained mercilessly.

Daphne had deep impression of this incident. At that time, he had pretended to have a stomachache to skip training; as a result, Benjamin punished him even more.

Dominic had such a miserable outcome for slacking off once. If she saw Benjamin as an antidote, wouldn't she be worse off?

"Don't scare Daphne," Evan said in time. He didn't want this group to ruin Benjamin's pursuit of Daphne. "Benjamin is retired now, and Daphne hasn't offended him. He has no reason to punish her. Maybe he simplywants to be nice to her."

"That sounds too funny!"

"Evan, are you sure you're not lying?"

"There's no humanity in Benjamin!"

They refuted his words.

Benjamin's retirement had been discussed in the eight-person friend group with Benjamin last night, so everyone knew.

The more Daphne listened, the more uneasy she felt. "I did offend Benjamin before."

As soon as she said this, everyone paused; even Evan was stunned.

"Daphne, come to my place." Emma began to feel sorry for her. After all, they were all friends. "I'm really worried about your safety."

Zoey said, "I think so, too."

Daphne was silent for a moment, then replied, "Let me handle things here first. Benjamin probably doesn't have a place to train me now."

After reassuring them, she exited the group call.

When she returned to the chat interface, Emma and Zoey had a few messages in their three-person chat.

They were probably asking how she had offended Benjamin.

They were her best friends since childhood, her closest confidants.

They had almost no secrets.

Daphne originally intended to keep it a secret, but considering she couldn't handle Benjamin alone, she told them.

As a result, she received the following responses.

Emma: [Run.]

Zoey: [Run fast.]

Emma: [What you said, a call with Benjamin might calm things down quickly, but you'll be doomed afterward.]

Zoey: [Daphne, you poor thing.]

Daphne held her forehead.

She knew it wouldn't be that simple.

Emma: [Don't even think about outsmarting Benjamin. He's very clever, you can't beat him.]

Zoey: [If Benjamin wants to mess with someone, no one can stop him.]

After replying to them, Daphne looked at the breakfast in front of her and fell into deep thought.

Half an hour later.

She blocked out all those thoughts and decided to take things one step at a time.

Until she found out who was supporting Kaylad, she couldn't ignore everything because that person was connected to Charles and the rest of them.

Thinking of this, she went out to meet Lydia and her boyfriend.

Benjamin was sitting in the living room.

He knew Daphne had gone out, but this time, he didn't follow. Instead, he chatted with Evan.

At eleven in the morning.

Daphne arrived at the private room of the restaurant they had booked.

"Sis Daphne!" Lydia stood up happily when she saw her, her eyes sparkling. "You're here!"

Daphne had already composed herself. "Yes."

"This is my boyfriend, Nick Davis." Lydia was also nervous but tried to lighten the mood. "Nick, this is my sister, Daphne."

"Hello, Daphne." Nick greeted her somewhat awkwardly.

Daphne was much calmer. "Hello."

She glanced at them. Lydia was cute, and Nick was sunny and cheerful. They looked quite compatible.

Lydia nudged Nick with her elbow.

Nick immediately handed the menu to Daphne, feeling extremely nervous. "Daphne, take a look at what you like to eat; order anything you want; it's on me!"

Daphne took the menu and ordered a few dishes that Lydia liked.

She never had much preference when it came to food.

Throughout the meal, Daphne ate calmly, no different from any other meal, but Lydia and Nick, the young couple, were different.

They kept observing Daphne's expression, afraid something might go wrong.

Lydia knew loved her. From childhood to now, Daphne would give her whatever she wanted.

But when it came to dating, she was still worried.

What if Daphne thought Nick was unreliable?

Lydia asked, "Daphne, how do you like the environment here?"

Daphne said, "It's okay."

Lydia asked, "Is the food good?"

Daphne replied, "It's fine."

"What do you think of my boyfriend?" Lydia asked this question in the same tone and mood as the previous two, hoping to get through it smoothly!

However, Daphne never brushed off her questions or concerns, so when she heard this, she paused her drinking and looked at them.

Nick kept a smile on his face, but his mind was racing.

Why was Lydia's sister so intimidating?

"Do you want to hear the truth?" Daphne's gaze fell on Nick, her expression unreadable.

Lydia was extremely nervous.

Did Daphne not like Nick?

Nick was equally nervous but still replied steadily, "I want to hear it. If there's anything wrong with me, please point it out, and I'll definitely change!"

"Daphne..." Lydia began to act cute.

Seeing their reluctant expressions, Daphne's eyes softened with a gentle smile. "Why are you so nervous? I didn't say I disapproved of you being together."

Lydia shouted, "You approve?!"

Daphne said, "You two look quite compatible."

Lydia frowned.

So, Did it mean Daphne thought their other conditions were not suitable?

"You're Nick, right?" Daphne was afraid she had remembered his name wrong.

Nick's palms were sweaty, and he spoke nervously. "Yes!"

"Take good care of my sister. She's the treasure of our family and the person I love the most." Daphne didn't want to put them under psychological pressure.
