Chapter 421 Next Time You Get Angry, Remember to Shake Me Off First
"Brian said that if you don't get good sleep, your body will have problems," Mark reminded him.
"That's him, not me," Charles said, resistant to medication. "You should go back and rest early. I can handle things here myself."
"Really not going to take it?" Mark checked again.
"No," Charles insisted.
"Then at least drink this glass of water," Mark said, putting the medicine away and handing over the water.
Luckily, he had prepared in advance and put a pill in the glass.
"If I'm not mistaken, there's medicine in the glass too, right?" Charles asked calmly, glancing at it.
Mark tried to bluff, "No."
"Take it away," Charles commanded.
"Mr. Lancelot," Mark called.
"I'm not thirsty right now, and I don't want to drink," Charles declined. "Leave it there. I'll get some water myself later if I feel like it."
Mark sighed silently and resignedly put the glass down.
Sometimes, Charles being too clever wasn't necessarily a good thing.
He put down the glass and sent a message to Brian: [Mr. Lancelot refuses to take the medicine, and he has figured out it is in the glass too.]
Brian: [I've never seen such a disobedient patient.]
After replying, Brian put his phone down and played with it, his brows furrowed.
He thought about messaging Daphne to ask her to persuade Charles, but after much consideration, he decided it wasn't appropriate.
Although Charles would listen to Daphne, he didn't want to bother her with his issues. If Charles found out he had contacted Daphne, it might worsen his mood and the situation.
With that in mind, he decided to put his phone down. Just as he placed it on the table, he saw a notification from Facebook pop up on the screen. Coincidentally, the first post was from Daphne.
There were nine pictures and a caption: "Benjamin, my boyfriend."
Brian was puzzled. Daphne posting on Facebook? And a lovey-dovey post at that?
Brian immediately commented: [Are you sure your account wasn't hacked?]
He deleted the words as soon as he typed them and just silently liked the post.
At times like this, it was better not to seek attention.
Daphne was already hard to deal with, and offending Benjamin would have dire consequences.
Daphne didn't check her phone. After posting on Facebook, she handed her phone to Benjamin and snuggled on the couch with him. "I've announced you as requested. Now you can't say I don't care about you."
Benjamin planted a kiss on her lips.
Why another kiss?
"Good girl, that's your reward," Benjamin lazily said.
Daphne said boldly, "That reward doesn't seem very impressive."
"What?" Benjamin asked.
"Other people's rewards are clothes, bags, and makeup," Daphne enumerated.
"I'll buy them," Benjamin said.
"No need," Daphne refused decisively. She always gave the new and limited edition items sent by brands to Lydia, and she rarely wore makeup except on special occasions.
"What kind of reward do you think is better?" Benjamin asked.
Daphne looked him over, her beautiful eyes twinkling. "How about taking me home to visit your parents?"
Benjamin was caught off guard.
He considered many things about Daphne, some aligned with her character, others not, but was surprised by this.
"Really?" He was happy but also suspicious that Daphne was teasing him.
"Yes." Daphne nodded, adding a reason, "Last time I pretended to be your girlfriend and didn't bring any gifts. This time I want to visit them formally."
"No need for gifts. They'll be very happy just to see you," Benjamin said, smiling happily.
Although Daphne's behavior was a bit unusual, it didn't matter. Her willingness to suggest visiting his home was already a cause for celebration.
"How about we go tomorrow?" Daphne had already planned it out. "It's the weekend."
"Okay," Benjamin replied, his smile unwavering.
He immediately called Henry and Anouk to inform them about bringing Daphne home the next day. They were delighted.
Once the time was set, Benjamin held Daphne in his arms, scrutinizing her. "Why the sudden desire to visit my home? Be honest, what's your plan?"
"No plan, just want to visit them," Daphne said calmly.
In fact, visiting was secondary.
Daphne mainly wanted to ask Benjamin's parents what his childhood nickname was.
Benjamin had said he didn't have one, but her intuition suggested otherwise.
After all, when she asked Sierra a few days ago, Sierra had avoided the question.
"Do you think I'll believe that?" Benjamin knew she had a motive but couldn't figure out what it was.
"Believe it or not," Daphne snapped, getting off his lap with an angry expression. "If you don't believe me, why ask?"
Benjamin chuckled softly.
'What's so funny? I'm genuinely angry,' Daphne thought to herself.
"How about I find some videos of couples arguing for you to watch?" Benjamin said in a playful tone, looking at her leisurely. "Study the details, so your acting is more convincing."
"You think I'm joking?" Daphne's acting was on point.
"In front of Evan and the others, you'd pass," Daphne commented.
"Benjamin!" Daphne called out angrily.
"What?" Daphne replied.
"I'm not joking. I'm really angry," Daphne said in a cold tone, and she seemed more distant than before.
She could compete with Benjamin, admit defeat if she lost, and accept it if she couldn't deceive him. But she couldn't lose in this.
Benjamin responded indifferently, "Yeah, I know."
'That's it? No more words?' Daphne thought angrily, glaring at him.
"Daphne," Benjamin called in high spirits, his eyes full of laughter.
Daphne looked at him and replied gently, "What?"
"Do you know there's a huge flaw in your anger?" Benjamin said.
"What?" Daphne asked in surprise.
She thought she was doing well, even convincing herself.
"Have you ever seen a couple argue while sitting on each other's lap?" Benjamin's lips curved into a beautiful smile, his dark eyes full of amusement.
She looked down and realized she had been sitting on Benjamin's lap the whole time since he held her.
"Next time you get angry, remember to push me away first," Benjamin said lazily, his eyes full of tenderness. "That way, the act can last longer, and I can join in and play along."
