Chapter 258 We Have No Relationship Anymore
"You can't go," Kevin said, grabbing Charles with a serious look. "He's just trying to scare you. Daphne will be fine."
"But what if?" Charles's voice was cold, his presence in a suit intimidating.
He couldn't take chances.
Soaking in ice water was extremely harmful to a woman's body; he couldn't just stand by and watch it happen.
"Daphne can handle it. You have to trust her." Kevin insisted.
"How? She's been taken as my ex-wife, not as Daphne. How can an ordinary woman handle it in an unfamiliar environment? Do you want her to reveal her identity?" Charles's question left Kevin speechless.
If Daphne didn't want to reveal her identity, she wouldn't show her exceptional skills. If she did, Michael would definitely suspect she was K.
"Sitting on the beach all night in just a shirt, you'll get sick." Kevin tried again. "The place he wants you to go to is only two or three degrees at dawn."
Even wrapped in a thick coat, it would be cold, let alone just wearing a shirt.
Charles paused and said, "I don't care about myself, as long as she's safe."
"Didn't Daphne ask you to trust her?" Kevin played his last card. "If you go now, it means you don't trust her. Aren't you afraid she'll completely give up on you afterward?"
Charles asked himself, 'Wasn't I afraid?' Actually, he was afraid.
However, he also knew that Daphne had already given up on him. Her words of forgiveness proved everything.
"We have no relationship anymore," Charles said, the realization dawning. No matter what I do, she won't come back to me, right?"
Kevin was speechless. He opened his mouth but said nothing.
Charles ignored him, got in his car, and drove to the place Michael mentioned. He didn't know why Michael was targeting him, nor did he understand the purpose of Michael's actions.
He didn't think about it; he just hoped Daphne would be safe.
He already regretted agreeing to plan this with Daphne.
Even though Daphne had a grudge against Michael, he shouldn't have let her take the risk. He should have handled it alone from the start.
Kevin couldn't stop him, so he contacted Evan immediately.
After hearing everything, Evan just told him to stay calm and keep an eye on Daphne's location.
As for Charles...
They really couldn't control him.
No one could interfere with his decisions.
It was just past 9 AM in Gedser and 1 AM where Michael was.
After the call with Charles, Michael went to sleep. When he woke up, had breakfast, and did some other things, it was already 10 AM.
In Gedser, it was already 6 PM.
He glanced at the time and had someone bring Daphne up from the basement, seemingly treating her as an ordinary person.
After a night, he no longer had Daphne tied up. When she was brought up, he politely and gentlemanly offered her a seat.
Daphne didn't know his true intentions. "How long are you going to keep me here?"
"Don't worry; I'll take you away soon." Michael smiled. "Before we leave, I want you to see something first."
Michael turned on a tablet and handed it over.
Daphne didn't know what he was up to but looked anyway.
The tablet showed a live surveillance video of a man in a white shirt sitting on a beach.
Although she couldn't see Charles's face clearly from the surveillance, Daphne recognized him by his silhouette.
"Why are you showing me this?" she asked indifferently.
"Your ex-husband still loves you," Michael said with a playful smirk, "I gave him the choice of sitting by the sea all night or letting you soak in ice water all night. He chose to sit by the sea."
Daphne frowned, knowing Kevin probably hadn't persuaded him.
If Michael really wanted to deal with Charles, he wouldn't just threaten her now. He preferred to torment people face-to-face rather than from a distance.
So when he said she would soak all night, it would probably be less than an hour. She could endure that.
"Didn't you say you don't like him anymore?" Michael saw her lack of reaction and chatted with her, "Doesn't this help you vent your anger?"
"What grudge do you have against him?" Daphne asked bluntly.
Michael's interest visibly waned. "That's none of your business."
Michael called out, "Nina."
Nina replied, "What?"
"Pack up. We're going to Sparkle Isle in three hours," Michael ordered.
Nina glanced at Daphne and replied, "What about them?"
Michael said, "Take them."
Nina nodded. "Okay."
Saying that, Michael went upstairs.
Daphne racked her brain but couldn't recall a place called Sparkle Isle. She had to ask Nina, who was packing up the computer, "What is Sparkle Isle?"
"Sparkle Isle is actually Butterfly Island," Nina said directly, as it wasn't a secret, "Michael bought it and renamed it Sparkle Isle."
Butterfly Island?
Daphne immediately thought of the place and confirmed it was in the country.
At that moment, she finally sighed in relief.
According to their plan, if Michael wanted Charles to come abroad, she would have to find a way to get Michael to the country.
Fortunately, everything was going smoothly.
"Why is he taking me there?" Daphne asked another question to avoid suspicion.
"He probably wants Charles to come see you." Nina guessed while packing up the equipment. "I don't know the specifics. He just told me to take you and Kayla there."
Daphne fell into deep thought. She waited there.
Three hours later, Michael came down, carrying a pink suitcase.
After giving Nina and the others an order, he got into the car first. Naturally, Nina took Daphne and Kayla into the car behind.
After several transfers, Daphne was taken onto a ship.
Michael placed the pink suitcase in a very safe spot, handling it with extreme care. After securing it, he returned to his usual self.
"Aren't you curious about where I'm taking you?" Michael sat down, legs crossed, looking nonchalant.
Daphne said, "Will you tell me?"
"Why not?" Michael hugged Kayla, his smile making the surrounding scenery pale in comparison. "You are someone I like."
Daphne was speechless. She didn't respond.
"In six hours, you'll see your ex-husband," Michael said slowly, "Are you happy?"
