Chapter 531 Why Aren't You Saying Anything

"Looks like it," Zoey said, taking another glance.

Daphne squinted, a bit confused. "Did we meet him somewhere before?"

Emma, Zoey, and Evan all turned to look at her.

Daphne felt their stares and asked, "What?"

"I always thought you were all about the books and didn't care about people," Emma teased. "Turns out you're more observant than me."

Daphne frowned. "What are you talking about?"

"Don't you think he's cute and want to get to know him?" Emma raised an eyebrow.

Daphne shook her head. "No."

She just thought he looked familiar but was sure she hadn't seen him before. Though, he was pretty good-looking.

"Let me introduce you; this is Benjamin. He'll be your new instructor and handle all your stuff," Efren announced as he walked over.

The seven of them straightened up and greeted Benjamin in unison.

Benjamin gave a nod and then looked at Efren.

Efren thought, 'Why are you staring at me?'

"Want to stick around and train with them?" Benjamin asked, his voice still carrying a youthful tone.

Efren left without a second thought but threw a parting shot, "Don't be fooled by his looks; he's a devil."

No one took it seriously.

It's just training; how bad could it be?

"No training today," Benjamin said after Efren left. "Let's just chat."

Everyone looked puzzled. Chat?

Benjamin scanned their faces. "Talk about your hobbies or what you used to do. You don't have to call me instructor, just Benjamin."

"Really no training?" Dominic asked, still skeptical.

Benjamin nodded.

Dominic exchanged a look with Sam and then started asking questions.

At first, everyone was a bit shy, but seeing Sam and Dominic chatting easily with Benjamin, they joined in.

In just half an hour, everyone was chatting freely.

Benjamin seemed to be just making small talk, but anyone who knew him would see it was all a setup.

The so-called familiarization was just to get to know them better for future intense training.

"It's getting late, let's go eat," Benjamin said, checking his watch. "After eating, rest for an hour and then come find me. I'll have someone do a full assessment on you."

Everyone agreed.

During the meal, the seven of them sat together.

Emma turned to Daphne and Zoey, "I didn't expect Benjamin to be so cool. Makes me want to get to know him better."

Zoey and Daphne exchanged a look.

They both quietly took a bite of their food without saying anything.

"Why aren't you guys talking?" Emma was still lost in Benjamin's charm.

"Did you forget what Efren said when he left?" Daphne, though also finding him attractive, wasn't in the mood to think about that here. "Anyone Efren calls a devil won't be simple."

Zoey nodded. "Exactly."

"Doesn't matter, as long as he's chill day-to-day, even if he trains me to the ground, I don't mind," Emma shrugged.

Training's all about getting stronger, so a little harshness is no big deal.

Zoey and Daphne just kept eating quietly.

After they finished eating and took a break, they headed to the high-tech base Benjamin had mentioned.

"Why did Benjamin want us here?"

"Didn't he say something about a full assessment?"

"Sounds kinda fun."

They chatted as they walked.

When Benjamin saw them arrive, he greeted the base staff and then told the group, "This afternoon, follow the schedule here. After that, you're free to do what you want. Training starts at 5:30 AM tomorrow."

"Got it," they all said together.

They were pretty surprised, not expecting a free day right off the bat.

After Benjamin left, he went back to his office.

Efren, who was checking things in Benjamin's room, looked up, surprised. "Why are you back?"

"Finished," Benjamin said simply.

"Aren't you supposed to be training them?" Efren asked.

"Resting today," Benjamin replied.

Efren gave him a suspicious look. "You're acting weird."

Benjamin took a sip of water, his face as calm as ever.

"Are you up to something again?" Efren asked, knowing Benjamin too well. "I'm telling you, these kids aren't like your usual team. Go easy on them."

"They all have potential," Benjamin said.

"So you're planning to train them like your team members?" Efren asked, hitting the nail on the head.

Benjamin nodded. "Yes."

Since they were here, he was going to take full responsibility for them. It would be tough, but they'd learn a lot.

"You've seen their files, right?" Efren asked, worried. "Some of them are rich kids. If something goes wrong, how will you explain it to their families?"

"They passed the first and second assessments, which means they're just as capable as anyone else here," Benjamin replied.

Efren wanted to argue more. He got the logic, but these kids were delicate. Could they handle it?

"Are you serious?" Efren asked again.

Benjamin nodded.

Efren wanted to say more but held back. He couldn't train people better than Benjamin, nor could he see potential the way Benjamin did.

But Efren knew, if Benjamin called them potential talents, it meant he saw something special in them, which was rare.

Two hours later, the physical stats of the seven were delivered.

Seeing this, Efren silently prayed for them.

At that moment, the group had no idea their carefree days were over. After the assessment, they teamed up and wandered around.

"Honestly, not training feels kinda weird," Sam said while walking.

Evan, looking youthful without his glasses, replied, "After tomorrow, you probably won't say that."

And Evan was right.

At 5:30 AM the next day, the seven gathered at the training ground, each with a backpack in front of them.

"Grab your gear and get ready for a 6-mile weighted run," Benjamin commanded coldly, no longer the friendly guy from before.
