Chapter 642 Talk to Her Alone

Given the grandeur of the wedding, Jesse was concerned that Elara might become exhausted, so they went through a simple ceremony.

By the end of the day, Elara was still exhausted and went upstairs to rest after the reception.

Knowing she hadn't eaten much all day, Jesse brought in some of her favorite desserts.

"Thank goodness we didn't have the wedding on that island," Elara thought, feeling relieved about their decision. "If we had, I would be even more exhausted."

"Have a bite to tide you over," Jesse said, placing the food on a small table in front of her and squatting down, "Put your legs up, I'll give you a massage to relax."

"No need," Elara said, stuffing a small piece of cake into her mouth.

Jesse had been up and about longer than Elara, so he must be more tired.

Jesse just lifted her legs and massaged them for a while.

Elara paused, wanting to stop him, saying, "Jesse..."

"Just for a bit," Jesse said, gently massaging her, making her feel very relaxed. "There's nothing much. After you finish eating, take a nap in the room. I'll come get you if anything comes up."

"No," Elara refused, "I want to be with you."

Jesse looked at her tenderly and, after finishing the massage, coaxed her to rest.

There wasn't nothing much after the wedding reception, but the elders were still there, and as the focal point of the day, he couldn't just disappear.

Meanwhile, in another room across the hall.

Brian pulled Richard inside, closed the door, and pinned him against the wall, "What did you mean earlier? What do you mean you have a girl you like?"

"Let go," Richard said, still with a casual and indifferent attitude.

Brian didn't want to let go.

Richard's slightly lowered eyes stared at him, and even though he said nothing, Brian felt unsettle.

After a silent standoff, Brian released his grip on Richard's hand, saying, "Are you serious?"

Brian's voice was hoarse as he asked.

"Yes," Richard wanted to sever ties with him.

"Does she know what kind of person you used to be?" Brian tried to persuade Richard from this angle, his eyes showing a hint of emotion, "Do you know that what you're doing is deceitful?"

"I've been honest with her about my past and told her about what happened with you," Richard's words were like a dagger to Brian's heart, "She said as long as I'm devoted to her from now on, she doesn't care about the past."

"Who is she?" Brian asked directly.

Richard responded indifferently, "You don't need to know."

"I don't believe you would like a woman," Brian moved closer to Richard, placing his hand on his waist, "I know your body better than you do."

Richard removed Brian's hand, his beautiful eyes devoid of any emotion. "Then you should know that the body is controlled by the heart."

Brian froze.

Richard distanced himself from Brian, saying, "I hope you won't bother me again in the future."

"Swear that what you said is true," Brian still found the situation strange.

Richard was always attractive, whether in his teenage years or now. He effortlessly stood out in any crowd, attracting the admiration of many. But Richard, with his charming eyes, turned everyone away.

Even Brian had to use many methods to win Richard over.

It seemed impossible for someone like him to develop feelings for another person, regardless of who they were, in such a brief period!

"None of your business," Richard said indifferently to Brian.

Brian stood by the window.

Seeing Brian's behavior, Richard's beautiful eyebrows furrowed slightly.

Brian noticed this subtle change.

Brian quickly thought of a plan, saying to Richard, "If what you just said is false, I never find happiness in my life."

Richard thought, 'how childish'.

"Well?" Brian asked him.

"Suit yourself," Richard was determined.

Richard knew that Brian cherished his life more above all else. He said this just to see if Richard would tell him the truth.

Brian walked over from the window and questioned Richard, "How can you be so heartless?"

"Not as much as you," Richard replied.

"Bring that woman here for me to see," Brian knew Richard better than Richard realized, "If what you say is true, I'll leave immediately and never appear in your life again."

"You'd better keep your word," Richard felt satisfied seeing his goal achieved.

"I mean it," Brian confirmed.

"Alright," Richard agreed.

The next day.

After Jesse and Elara's wedding officially ended, Richard brought over the woman he "liked," Layla Scott.

Brian met her at Richard's house. She was very beautiful and pure-looking, a style hard to imagine Richard would like.

"Now you've seen her," Richard said, standing with Layla, who was half a head shorter than him, "You can leave."

"How do I know you didn't just find some woman to deceive me?" Brian stood up from the couch and walked over to them, glancing at Layla before continuing, "I want to talk to her alone."

"That wasn't part of the deal," Richard refused.

Layla smiled slightly, looking pure and gentle: "It's okay, I'll talk to him."

Richard paused, then agreed, "Alright."

Seeing their sweet interaction, Brian's handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly.

Was Richard serious?

"If you need anything, call me. I'll be upstairs," Richard said gently to Layla, his eyes clearer than usual.

"Don't make it seem like I'm a villain," Brian was unhappy with Richard's gentleness towards Layla, "I'm just talking to her, not doing anything."

Richard glanced at Brian and went upstairs without saying a word.

Soon, only Brian and Layla were left in the living room.

"Tell me, how much did he pay you to act?" Brian took out a bank card from his pocket and handed it over, "I'll give you three times that amount if you confess."

"Do you think he is the one for you?" Layla looked pure and gentle, but her words carried a hint of coldness, "That being with anyone else is just an act?"

Brian's eyebrows furrowed, clearly not expecting her to say that.

"If you want money, I'll give you money," Layla also took out a bank card, very generously, "Here's a million dollars. I hope you won't bother us again."
