Chapter 716 Acting Spoiled
"Got it," Diana agreed without arguing.
After that, neither of them spoke much. Louis drove while Diana texted Caspian.
When they arrived at the hotel.
Louis looked a bit worried, clearly still concerned about Diana and Caspian.
After some thought, Louis turned his gaze to Diana, who was playing on her phone on the couch, and asked, "How's Caspian doing?"
"He's fine." Diana stopped what she was doing and looked at Louis. "It's not like you thought. He was calm the whole time and didn't hurt me."
Louis was skeptical. "Not at all?"
"At first, he wanted me to leave, but after I persisted, he calmed down," Diana explained everything without hiding.
Louis wanted to say something but was afraid it might be inappropriate.
Diana and Caspian were already together.
All Louis could do was hope they got along well.
"Don't worry, he won't have another episode," Diana promised, emphasizing, "I think the doctor's conclusion and your guess were based on the idea that I would oppose or fear Caspian, which would trigger his behavior."
"But now, I get along with him well. I meet his demands, even the ones he hasn't made," Diana continued seriously. "He will get better, bit by bit."
In the end, being with Caspian had only two outcomes.
Either his condition would worsen because of her, or it would improve.
Based on today's performance, Diana was 100% confident she could help Caspian heal and make him feel secure.
"You..." Louis hesitated.
Diana was more straightforward in this regard. "Just say what you want to say."
"Don't you feel wronged, always accommodating him?" Louis thought about what Diana had told him before, feeling complicated. "You love being around people."
Diana had always been a social person.
She was happy in crowds and got along with everyone.
But now, for Caspian, she had to give up her old friends.
For someone who loved socializing, this was like a form of imprisonment.
"If I were forced, I'd feel wronged, but I'm doing this willingly." Diana had no negative feelings, quite the opposite. "I enjoy the life where it's just me and Caspian."
Caspian was quiet but interesting. He just didn't talk much, but his soul was fascinating.
"What if Caspian needs you to give up your freedom for a lifetime to heal him?" Louis asked tentatively, feeling both sorry for Diana and worried about Caspian. "What would you do?"
"Then I'll do that," Diana answered directly.
Louis asked again, "What about your friends?"
"I've already talked to them." Diana was thorough. "Except for Lon, whom I asked you to talk to, I've explained to everyone else."
Her friends had other friends besides her. But Caspian only had her.
Moreover, her friends weren't sad about her not contacting them; they were more curious.
"When do you plan to tell Mom and Dad?" Louis asked, not interfering further.
Since Diana had it under control, Louis, as her brother, shouldn't meddle too much.
After all, she was an adult now, and he shouldn't overstep.
Diana coughed lightly. "Can I just tell them I'm dating Caspian without mentioning his condition?"
"What do you think?" Louis retorted.
Diana smiled. "I can."
"No," Louis said sternly. "You said before that if I told you why Caspian disappeared, you'd tell Mom and Dad about his condition. I told you the reason, and I helped you with other things. Shouldn't you..."
Before he could finish, Diana started to act cute. "Louis."
"Will you tell them, or should I?" Louis was firm.
"Can you give me one more month?" Diana pleaded, looking pitiful. "If Caspian's condition improves in a month, we won't worry Mom and Dad. If not, I'll tell them."
Diana's voice was soft. "Please?"
"No," Louis refused again.
"I know I shouldn't break my promise, but have you thought about the consequences if I tell them?" Diana reasoned seriously. "It would only worry Mom without any benefit."
Louis looked at her, unwilling to admit it, but she was right.
Benjamin never interfered with their relationships as long as they behaved properly.
But Daphne was more sensitive. If she knew about Diana's situation, she would worry but hesitate to interfere too much.
"Right?" Diana saw Louis waver and continued.
Louis looked at Diana with more emotion, knowing she was being manipulative.
"If you still want me to tell Mom, I'll call her right now," Diana said, holding her phone. "But if Mom can't sleep because she's worried, you'll be responsible..."
"Wait," Louis stopped her.
Diana felt a bit triumphant but didn't show it. "Hmm?"
"I'll give you one month," Louis finally relented. "If there's no improvement in a month, you'll tell Mom in person."
Given the current situation, Diana could help Caspian calm down.
But nothing was certain.
Louis couldn't just hope for the best.
"No problem!" Diana agreed quickly.
Louis felt a mix of fatigue and complexity, emotions swirling in his heart.
Why did he always compromise to her?
"If there's nothing else, I'll go now," Diana said, standing up with her phone. "I haven't told Charles yet. I need to tell him."
"Shouldn't you tell Mom and Dad first?" Louis reminded.
Diana didn't hesitate, quickly saying, "I'll do it now."
The next moment, she called Daphne.
As soon as the call connected, Diana told her about dating Caspian.
Daphne always gave her children the most freedom in their relationships. After Diana told her, she just reminded her to have a good relationship and bring Caspian home when possible.
