Chapter 501 Jealous Benjamin

"Mom, chill. I'll look after Diana," Louis said, his voice way too mature for a kid. "Whenever you wanna come back, Gavin and I will pick you up."

"No need," Benjamin shot back, all casual-like.

Louis's tone dropped, showing the tension between him and his dad. "I was talking to Mom, not you."

"She's my wife. I'll pick her up. You don't need to stress about it," Benjamin snapped. "Instead of worrying about this, why don't you focus on growing taller and getting stronger?"

Louis's fists clenched. Anyone who knew him knew his height and physique were his sore spots. Benjamin always used that to get under his skin.

"Mom," Louis said, looking down and holding Daphne's hand. "Do you think I'm not good enough too?"

"No," Daphne said, ruffling his hair and squatting down to his level. "You and Diana are my most precious treasures."

"Really?"

"Of course."

Daphne ruffled his hair again.

Louis shot a glance at Benjamin before asking Daphne, "What about Dad?"

"He..." Daphne hesitated.

Benjamin had just ticked Louis off, and if she praised him now, Louis would probably feel even worse.

Kids' hearts were fragile.

If Benjamin knew what Daphne was thinking, he'd probably say, "Fragile? Do you even know what Louis has been up to behind our backs?"

"Mom," Louis called softly.

Daphne's voice was gentle. "Yes?"

Honestly, even though Daphne had thought about some alone time with Benjamin, looking at Louis and Diana made her not want to leave.

"Can you give me a kiss?" Louis was clearly trying to get under Benjamin's skin.

Diana rushed over too, her eyes no longer teary. "I want one too!"

Daphne kissed both kids on the cheeks, ruffled their hair, and gave them some final instructions. "Remember to listen to Gavin. If you miss me, just call."

"Okay," Louis and Diana both said obediently.

Daphne wanted to stay with them a bit longer.

But Benjamin pulled her away.

On the way to the airport, Daphne turned to Benjamin and asked, "Why are you always clashing with Louis?"

"Me? Seriously?" Benjamin's voice got a bit louder.

Daphne thought back and said, "Most of the time, it's you. Even if Louis clashes with you, it's 'cause you started it."

"Daphne." Benjamin chuckled and pinched her cheek. "Aren't you being a bit biased?"

Daphne stayed quiet. She was a bit biased, but they were all her precious ones.

"Why aren't you saying anything? Realized you're biased?" Benjamin kept going.

"Louis is really well-behaved." Daphne still thought their father-son relationship needed mending. "If you don't provoke him or confront him, he's a really sweet kid."

Smart, disciplined, good at studying, and always polite to elders—a perfect child.

"Then think about how I've spent this past year," Benjamin reminded her.

During the nearly ten months of her pregnancy, he didn't touch her once, scared he might hurt her or the baby.

After the babies were born, Benjamin stuck around for the whole postpartum recovery thing and then took care of the kids.

Sure, they had a nanny, but these were his and Daphne's precious little ones, so he took it seriously.

Finally, the kids got a bit older and easier to handle, and he and Daphne got some alone time.

But that alone time went out the window when Louis and Diana turned three and started preschool.

Especially Louis—every time Benjamin tried to get some private time with Daphne, Louis would stir up some trouble.

So, during the year when they were three, he and Daphne barely had any intimate moments.

Daphne paused, feeling a bit guilty. "He just needs some company."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"He's already four," Benjamin reminded her.

Daphne nodded. "I know."

"Since he's not three anymore, he should sleep on his own." Benjamin knew Louis was doing it on purpose, so he had to get Daphne on board. "We need to teach him independence early."

Daphne pursed her lips. If Louis wasn't independent, then no one was.

"From now on, if he messes with our alone time again, I'm sending him to the organization." Benjamin wasn't about to lose his sex life.

Daphne coughed lightly and asked, "Isn't that a bit too early?"

Benjamin said, "He can already solve fifth-grade math problems. He's also secretly learning your hacking skills."

"Still think it's too early?" Benjamin pressed.

Daphne, giving in to Benjamin's "resentment," said, "Not exactly."

Louis was crazy talented. He picked up a lot on his own. At first, they thought he was just pretending to read, but then they realized he understood way too much.

Diana was smart too, but her talents were different from Louis's.

Louis was a whiz at school stuff, hacking, and picking up new concepts. Diana, on the other hand, was a natural at piano, painting, and acting, just from watching Daisy perform. It was like the siblings had split their talents.

"They don't need us to worry too much now. We just need to make sure they don't go off the rails," Benjamin said to Daphne, hoping she'd get how serious this was. "We're the ones who are gonna be together forever."

"Are you jealous of the kids?" Daphne asked, lips pursed.

Benjamin thought about Louis's antics and shot back, "Is he a normal kid?"

Daphne knew it had been rough on him these past few years, but a man without sex for years could be pretty scary.

"Are you planning to leave me sexless for the rest of my life?" Benjamin saw her expression and his tone got a bit louder.

Daphne felt guilty. "No."

Compared to the romantic vibe here, things were chaotic on Gavin's side.

Even though Louis was young, he was never into playing. He either had his nose in a book or was messing around with computers and coding.
