Chapter 220 Have You Decided to Keep This Child?

The heaviest burden in Daisy's heart was finally resolved, but she still felt a bit sad and lost.

Daisy felt a bit suffocated and reached out to Daphne, saying, "Daphne, hug me."

Daphne gave her a warm and comforting hug.

Daisy didn't let go. She just kept holding on.

After some time passed, Daisy spoke up, her voice slightly hoarse, "Daphne."

"What's wrong?" Daphne asked.

"Do you think I'm being foolish?" Daisy rested her chin on Daphne's shoulder, tears welling up in her eyes. "He treated me that way, but when he agreed to divorce, I still felt a bit sad."

"Everyone has their own emotions and desires," Daphne comforted her, "People are complex, and you're doing great."

It was normal for people to have love and hate, and it was not a big deal.

After all, matters of the heart and emotions are not something that can be easily controlled at will.

"I also want to be as carefree as you," Daisy was truly distressed, saying, "But I felt I can't."

Daphne held her without saying a word.

People could forget about pain and distress unconsciously.

She had loved Charles. He was gentle and patient back then, taking care of her emotions, and she quickly fell for him.

At least before the incident with Kayla, he was really good.

During the six months after the incident, Daphne seemed fine, focusing on their respective lives with Charles.

But only she knew how she got through those days. Whenever she was alone at home, she would occasionally stare blankly at a spot, lost in thought, and by the time she snapped out of it, one or two hours had passed.

Or she would go for a run to vent or go to the boxing gym to release her emotions.

She didn't cry in front of Charles, nor did she beg him to stay.

Although those days were tough and oppressive, she knew that once she got through them, it would be okay.

No matter how significant an event was, as time passed, it eventually faded and became increasingly insignificant.

Therefore, she became what she was now, appearing as if she had never loved Charles in his heart.

"Daisy," Daphne suddenly called out to her.

"What's wrong?" Daisy asked.

"Have you decided to keep this child?" Daphne wanted her to think carefully, so she said to her, "Once the child is born, you'll be raising them alone. From birth, vaccinations, and school, everything will be your responsibility."

If the Hills found out, they would definitely come to claim the child.

Daphne didn't mention this.

After all, when it really comes down to it, she could help Daisy intercept. However, raising a child is not something that can be solved just by having money.

"I've made up my mind," Daisy sat down on the sofa with her, saying, "It's definitely challenging, but with my current savings, I can manage for two years."

"Being a single mom can be exhausting," Daphne remarked.

"I'm not afraid," Daisy insisted.

A slight smile appeared on Daisy's lips. She had already made her decision.

Seeing that she had thought it through, Daphne felt reassured. As long as Daisy could handle the pressure, she didn't mind helping her raise a child. After all, she also liked kids.

After settling this matter, Daphne began to focus on another issue.

She was straightforward with Daisy. "Does anyone know about your situation here?"

Daisy shook her head.

She was afraid of attracting Austin, so she hadn't told anyone.

Even though she posted on Facebook occasionally, she didn't mark the address, and most of the content was purely text without images. Even if there were pictures, most of them were sourced from the internet and were not from around here.

"Now that you're pregnant, rest well and don't worry too much about Austin," Daphne just wanted her to stay happy, so she comforted her, "If you want to go out, just have the bodyguards take you out. Don't worry about being recognized."

Daisy was a celebrity and quite well-known, so many people knew her.

But the places Daphne instructed the bodyguards to take her were mostly exclusive, and even if she was recognized, there wouldn't be much of a reaction. After all, those people were the ones who made the stars and invested in them.

Daisy nodded. "Okay."

Daphne stayed with her for a while longer. As she was about to leave, Daisy suddenly said, "Daphne."

"What is it?" Daphne asked.

"Do you think I can be considered your kept woman?" Daisy smirked mischievously.

"Not at all," Daphne replied.

"Why not?" Daisy asked.

"Because you're my precious one," Daphne smiled and said.

Daisy suddenly burst into laughter.

Daphne raised an eyebrow at her, feeling puzzled. "Did I say something wrong?"

"You're absolutely right." Daisy reached out and gently poked her cheek, a warm smile in her eyes. "I just didn't expect you to say those words. It's a bit clumsy yet adorable."

Daphne felt a bit helpless. She playfully tapped Daisy's forehead and said, "I think you need to go back to school and learn how to use rhetoric for expression and description."

Daisy just smiled without saying a word.

Daphne didn't linger any longer. After briefing her and the bodyguards on a few things, she drove away.

By the time she returned to Murphy & Sis International Group, it was already noon.

After finishing up some work, Jesse ordered lunch.

While they were eating, Jesse hesitated, looking at Daphne several times, contemplating whether to say something.

"What's wrong?" Daphne noticed and asked.

"Mark is investigating me," Jesse said seriously, adding, "To be more precise, Charles is investigating me."

Daphne paused and said, "I know."

The last time Charles coincidentally appeared there because he was investigating Jesse.

However, she didn't understand why he was looking into him.

"You don't know." Jesse corrected her. "He's not investigating other information about me, but where I used to work."

Daphne took a bite of spaghetti, her eyes even deeper than before.

In an instant, she made a decision. "If Charles wants to investigate, let him do it."

"Aren't we keeping it confidential?" Jesse asked.

"No need, just let it be," Daphne replied calmly.

Charles wanted to know where Jesse used to work, probably to find out if Jesse's mysterious supporter was Daphne.

For her current self, it didn't matter whether he knew or not.

If he wanted to investigate, she didn't mind.

Because Daphne hadn't intentionally blocked anything, Mark's investigation went particularly smoothly.

In just a few days, he found out about Jesse.

Upon learning that Jesse worked at Murphy & Sis International Group, Charles almost immediately confirmed that Daphne owned this group.

When Mark heard this conclusion, he was somewhat puzzled, asking, "How did you figure out that Ms. Murphy is the owner of Murphy & Sis International Group?"

Charles replied confidently, "The name of this company overlaps with her and her family's names. Besides, based on Jesse's attitude towards Daphne, it's not hard to guess the result."

If Jesse was just Daphne's part-time assistant, he wouldn't have the same rapport with her.

Most importantly, Mark mentioned that Jesse's boss had been on two years of leave, coinciding with Daphne's two-year marriage.

"And then?" Mark asked a crucial question.

Charles narrowed his eyes, a hint of sharpness in his gaze. "What?"

"Now that you know Jesse is from Murphy & Sis International Group, and Ms. Murphy is the owner of this group," Mark said seriously, "What do you plan to do?"
