Chapter 101 Can You Please Stop Messing Around?

After a few seconds of silence, Ava's tearful voice came. "I know, but I don't know who else to turn to besides you. I'm sorry. I'll figure it out myself and won't bother you anymore."

Then, she hung up.

Alex frowned, feeling a surge of irritation.

He liked Ava's gentleness and understanding, but he didn't want to get involved with her family. Otherwise, they'd come to him for everything, and he wasn't running a charity.

But Ava was carrying his child, and if he didn't step up, she might not be able to handle it.

After a long hesitation, Alex finally grabbed his suit jacket and left.

Upstairs, Sharon came out of the shower and heard the rumble of an engine starting.

She paused in the middle of drying her hair, walked to the window, and saw Alex's car driving away.

Sharon calmly turned away, finished drying her hair, did her skincare routine, and went to bed.

Meanwhile, when Alex got to the hospital, Ava was sitting in front of the operating room, trembling.

Next to her was a middle-aged woman with a sorrowful expression and graying hair, clearly worn down by a hard life.

Alex walked up to her and asked coldly, "What happened?"

Ava looked up with red eyes and. Seeing Alex, she instinctively threw herself into his arms.

"Alex, my dad had an accident on his way to bring me stuff. The doctor said it's serious, and I'm so scared."

Alex frowned, patted Ava's back, and said in a steady voice, "Don't worry. Let's wait for the surgery to end first."

Just then, an angry voice rang out.

"What are you doing!"

Alex and Ava turned to see Robert striding toward them, his face livid with rage.

Karen tried to hold him back but failed.

Robert stormed up to Alex and slapped him hard.

Alex didn't dodge, and the slap landed squarely on his face, leaving an instant handprint.

Ava's face changed. "Alex."

Robert's face was flushed with anger, and he was trembling all over.

"Alex, what did you promise when you married Sharon? Now you're here in the dead of night hugging another woman in the hospital. How could you do this to my daughter?!"

Robert had been puzzled by Sharon's recent unhappiness and her decision to move out alone. Tonight, he finally understood.

It turned out Alex was cheating!

Thinking about how Sharon had been suffering and still forced a smile every time she saw him, Robert was heartbroken.

"Robert, it's not what you think. Let me explain."

Robert looked at Alex coldly. "I'll call Sharon over, and you can explain in front of us!"

Saying this, Robert shakily took out his phone to call Sharon.

Before he could dial, Alex snatched the phone away.

"Robert, I know you're very angry right now. She's my secretary, and her dad had an accident and is in surgery. I was just comforting her."

Alex had to find a way to calm Robert down; otherwise, if Sharon wanted a divorce, no one would be on his side.

However, Robert didn't believe a word of Alex's explanation.

No boss would rush to the hospital in the middle of the night to comfort a secretary whose father was in surgery, and no comfort would involve hugging.

Robert had never seen a secretary call her boss so affectionately.

"Alex, I'm old but not a fool. Do you think just because the Wright family is down, we have to endure any grievance you throw at Sharon?"

Alex frowned, "Robert, you're not feeling well. Let me take you back to your room, and I'll explain everything thoroughly."

He reached out to support Robert, but Robert pushed him away.

"Don't touch me. Give me back my phone. I said call Sharon over, and you can explain in front of her!"

"Dad, this is a matter of life and death. Can you stop making a scene?"

Seeing the impatience in Alex's eyes, Robert sneered, "I was wrong about you from the start. I'll persuade Sharon to divorce you!"

With that, Robert turned and walked away.

After taking just two steps, he suddenly blacked out and collapsed.

In the middle of the night, Sharon was awakened by the ringing of her phone.

By the time she arrived at the hospital, it was already past 1 a.m.

"Aunt Karen, what happened? Why did Dad suddenly pass out, and Alex, why are you here?"

Karen sneered, "Ask him yourself. He was just hugging that other woman, and your dad saw it."

If she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have taken Robert for a walk when he couldn't sleep.

They had just reached the small garden downstairs when they saw Alex rushing into the hospital building. Robert thought something had happened to Sharon and pulled Karen to follow him, only to see that scene.

Sharon looked at Alex, her eyes cold.

"Alex, you couldn't hold back, could you? Hugging Ava outside. Do you have any shame left?"

Alex was already fuming inside, and Sharon's questioning made his eyes turn cold instantly.

"Ava's father was in a car accident and is in surgery. I saw she was upset and was just comforting her."

Sharon laughed lightly, "When my dad was in surgery, you wouldn't come to be with me because of a company meeting. Now Ava's father is in surgery, and you rush to the hospital in the middle of the night to comfort her."

"If you care about her that much, I'll make it easy for you. Tomorrow morning, I'll personally tell Sandra and Tyler about Ava's pregnancy."

Alex's face turned extremely dark, "You wouldn't dare!"

If Sharon told Tyler about this, Alex could forget about staying in the Smith group.

"With you being so blatant, it won't stay hidden for long even if I don't say anything. I'm tired; let's just let each other go."

Sharon had told Alex multiple times that Robert's current condition could not handle any stimulation, but he never took it to heart.

At the root of it, Alex just didn't care about her.

"I said I wouldn't divorce you, and don't forget about the kidney donor..."

Before Alex could finish, Karen suddenly interrupted, "What kidney donor? Sharon, did you find a donor for your dad?"

Sharon's hand tightened involuntarily at her side. Seeing Karen's expectant gaze, she pressed her lips and slowly said, "He said he found one."

Alex spoke in a deep voice, "Sharon, don't forget, I found the donor for your dad because you're my wife, and he's my father-in-law. If you divorce me, the donor will go to someone else."
