Chapter 323 The One Who Should Be Thanked Is Someone Else
Seb gave a curt nod. "Alright."
They both went quiet for a bit. Sharon packed up the ice pack and looked at Seb. "Mr. Smith, can you give me Randy's contact info?"
Seb narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
Sharon said, "I'm worried about Sophie. I want to see if he caught up with her."
Seeing the worry and guilt in Sharon's eyes, Seb said in a deep voice, "Don't worry. With him there, Sophie will be fine."
Sharon said, "Please, I need to know she's okay."
Seb frowned, about to say something, when his phone rang.
Seeing it was Randy, his gaze turned icy. He let it ring a bit before answering.
Randy's anxious voice came through. "Uncle Seb, can you let Sharon come over? I caught up with Sophie, but she's really upset and locked herself in the car. I think Sharon needs to come and clear things up."
Seb's face hardened, ready to refuse, but Sharon's pleading look flashed in his mind. He tightened his grip on the phone. "I'll ask her."
Seb looked at Sharon and said in a low voice, "Randy caught up with Sophie. She's really emotional and wants you to come over. Do you want to go?"
Sharon quickly nodded. "Yes. Mr. Smith, can you ask your driver to take me there?"
Seb didn't answer. He just told Randy, "Send me the address," and hung up.
He put away his phone, stood up, and grabbed the car keys. "Let's go."
Seeing that Seb intended to take her personally, Sharon was shocked and quickly said, "Mr. Smith, you don't have to take me yourself. The driver can take me."
Before she finished speaking, Seb impatiently looked down at her. "The driver is already asleep. Do you want to wake him up in the middle of the night just to take you?"
Seb walked out quickly, without waiting for a response.
Watching his tall figure, Sharon bit her lip and followed him.
Forty minutes later, the black Maybach stopped in an open area on the outskirts.
Sharon quickly opened the door and got out. Randy walked up and said, "Sharon, Sophie has been crying. She's calmed down a bit. Take your time explaining. I'll be nearby. Call me if you need anything."
Sharon nodded. "Okay, thank you!"
With that, Sharon took a deep breath and slowly walked to Sophie's car.
Sophie was sitting inside, her eyes red and swollen.
Seeing Sharon's figure from the corner of her eye, Sophie turned her face away.
Sharon walked to the other side and gently knocked on the window. "Sophie, can you open the door? Let's talk."
Sophie turned her head away, ignoring her.
Sharon had lied to her for five years. Sophie wouldn't forgive her so easily. Thinking about her sadness and pain over the past five years, Sophie felt both wronged and sad.
Sharon had no idea what she had gone through in those five years at all!
Sharon sighed and continued to patiently persuade Sophie.
After a while, Sophie finally opened the car door and shouted at Sharon, "I treated you as my best friend, but you lied to me!"
Sharon grabbed Sophie's hand. "Sophie, I had my reasons."
Sophie yanked her hand away. "What reasons could make you hide the truth from me for so long?"
Sharon took a deep breath and started explaining everything from the past few years.
As Sophie listened, her anger slowly turned to surprise and heartache.
Finally, Sophie hugged Sharon and cried. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
Sharon, also in tears, hugged her back. "No, it's my fault."
Seeing the misunderstanding between Sophie and Sharon clear up, Randy finally relaxed.
Randy said, " Seb, thanks for bringing Sharon over."
Seb frowned. "I told you, she's not your aunt."
Randy glanced at him. "Seb, don't you like her?"
Seb shot back, "Why should I?"
Randy smirked. "If you don't like her, why did you stop Sophie from finding her? Why did you bring her over yourself?"
Seb said, "I didn't want to wake Demetrius. It was just convenient."
Randy said, "Is that so? Seb, you're not usually this considerate."
Seb's gaze darkened. "Do you know me that well?"
Sensing his displeasure, Randy raised an eyebrow. "No, I just think you're too insensitive about feelings. Sometimes you hurt the people who matter to you without realizing it."
Seb stayed silent, but a strange emotion flickered in his eyes.
After Sophie calmed down, Randy took her home, while Sharon went back to the villa with Seb.
Sophie said, "Sharon, I'll come see you tomorrow."
Sharon nodded. "Okay."
She looked at Randy. "Mr. Randy Smith, thanks for tonight. I'll treat you to dinner another day to thank you."
Randy smiled meaningfully. "No need. There's someone else you should thank. We'll head back now. Goodbye, Sharon."
Sharon blushed and was about to explain, but Randy had already driven off.
Sharon turned to look at Seb, who was also looking at her intently. She felt uneasy and turned her head slightly. "Mr. Smith, thanks for tonight!"
Seb looked at her side profile, his gaze deepening. Randy's words echoed in his mind, and Seb frowned. "It's late. Let's go back."
On the way back, Sharon and Seb didn't speak; there was a subtle tension in the car.
Back at the villa, Sharon got out of the car, said a quick goodnight to Seb, and hurriedly left.
Seb watched her rush off, his eyes narrowing unconsciously.
It wasn't until she returned to her room and closed the door that Sharon breathed a sigh of relief, leaning against the door, feeling lost. She didn't know why, but for the past few days, she always felt flustered when facing Seb.
On the other side, after watching Sharon's figure disappear, Seb turned and went to his study.
Just as he reached the study door, his phone rang.
Seeing it was Rufus calling, Seb's eyes flashed with surprise. He answered, "What's up?"
Rufus said, "Mr. Smith, we've found out who is behind Keith."
Rufus said something that made Seb's face turn extremely grim, his eyes filled with coldness. "Are you sure?"
