Chapter 171 Is Miss Hall the Mistress?
Sharon got a call from Sophie in the evening, inviting her to dinner.
When Sharon arrived at the restaurant, Sophie wasn't there yet.
She had just sat down when she saw a familiar face at the door.
Sharon's eyes landed on the woman next to Seb. The woman wore a white strapless dress, light makeup, and a faint smile. She looked elegant.
Sharon had never met Grace, but she could tell who she was by the way she held Seb's arm.
Sharon quickly looked away, pretending not to notice.
But she didn't see that Seb had noticed her too.
Grace, seeing Seb pause, looked up confused. She saw him staring at a woman and tightened her grip on his arm.
Grace had seen Sharon's photo before coming back.
Sharon was already beautiful in the photo, so much so that even Grace was drawn to her.
Grace returned because she feared Seb would be taken by Sharon.
But in person, Sharon was even more stunning, with delicate features that drew attention.
Grace took a deep breath, suppressed her jealousy, and smiled gently.
"Seb, why did you stop? Victor and the others are waiting for us in the private room."
Seb snapped out of it and said coldly, "Let's go."
Not long after Seb and Grace left, Sophie rushed into the restaurant.
Sitting down in front of Sharon, she took a sip of water. "Traffic was crazy. You haven't been waiting long, have you?"
Sharon shook her head. "No, I just got here too."
"Good."
"So, why the sudden dinner invite?"
Sophie put down her glass and smiled. "I've got good news!"
Sharon looked puzzled. "What news?"
"I got a job offer!"
"Really? Congrats! But don't you need more time to rest?"
"Nope. The doctor said I'm almost good to go. Staying home, my mom keeps nagging me about blind dates. If I don't get a job and move out soon, she'll probably marry me off!"
Sophie exaggerated, making Sharon laugh.
"Alright, let's order; I'm starving."
Sharon nodded. "Okay, my treat to celebrate your new job."
"Then I won't hold back."
After ordering, they started chatting.
In the private room, as soon as Seb and Grace walked in, everyone cheered.
"Grace, impressive! After so many years abroad, you got back with Mr. Smith right away. First love is powerful."
"Of course. When Grace went abroad, Seb chased her to the airport and waited for years. It's a dream come true."
"Seeing you two makes me believe in love again."
Most people in the private room were part of Seb and Victor's circle. When Seb and Grace were dating, Seb had brought Grace to a few gatherings, so she knew them well.
Seb frowned, about to say something, but Grace cut in softly, "Seb, they're just teasing. Don't mind them. Anyway, in three months, you can go back to Ms. Wright. Just bear with it for now, okay?"
Seb's eyes darkened. He said nothing, just pulled his arm away from her and pulled out the chair closest to Grace. "Sit down."
Without another glance at Grace, Seb sat down next to her.
Grace's smile wavered but she quickly recovered and sat beside him.
Others might not have noticed, but Victor sensed Seb's coldness towards Grace.
It didn't seem like they had reconciled, but if they hadn't, why was Seb with Grace?
Suppressing his unease, Victor smiled and said, "Alright, tonight's Grace's welcome party. Glad everyone could make it."
The room buzzed with conversation, mostly about Grace.
For a moment, Grace felt like the star she used to be when she was with Seb.
She knew that if Seb hadn't come with her, these people wouldn't be so enthusiastic.
But it didn't matter. Her goal was to marry Seb.
Amidst the praise, a mocking voice cut through.
"If I remember right, Mr. Smith was with Sharon before. How come he's back with Miss Hall in less than two weeks? Is Miss Hall the mistress?"
The room fell silent, and Grace's smile froze.
Everyone's eyes turned to Rebecca, many secretly admiring her boldness.
In Metropolis, almost no one dared to offend Seb, let alone call Grace a mistress to his face.
Grace looked at Rebecca, eyes filled with confusion and innocence. "What are you talking about? I don't understand."
Rebecca sneered. "Do you really not understand, or are you pretending?"
Sensing the tension, the girl next to Rebecca, Brenda Green, gently nudged her. "Rebecca, stop it."
If Rebecca offended Seb, Brenda wouldn't be spared either.
Victor hadn't originally invited Rebecca.
When Brenda got the invite, she was out shopping with Rebecca and mentioned it. Unexpectedly, Rebecca asked to come along. After Brenda asked Victor and got his okay, she brought Rebecca.
Victor's expression turned cold. "Rebecca, if you can't speak properly, then shut up. This gathering is to welcome Grace back, not for you to cause trouble."
Rebecca smiled slightly and looked at Victor. "Mr. Edwards, don't be mad. I'm just telling the truth. If the truth hurts, maybe she shouldn't be doing those things, right?"
Grace's face turned pale, and she looked at Rebecca with teary eyes. "Miss Walker, this is our first meeting. Why are you so hostile towards me?"
A man nearby, Chris Morris, raised an eyebrow and said teasingly, "Grace, you probably don't know. Rebecca went on a blind date with Mr. Smith before, but he didn't like her. Later, she tried to pursue him a few more times but was rejected. She's probably holding a grudge, so she's picking on you."
Anger flashed in Rebecca's eyes, and she gritted her teeth. "Chris Morris, shut up!"
