Chapter 490 I Hope Mom Can Come
Sharon was momentarily stunned before she managed to ask, "Because of me? How could that be?"
Even though Leo had confessed his feelings to her five years ago, it felt like a lifetime had passed. Leo now had a family with Ayla and a child. How could he still be hung up on her?
She didn't think she was attractive enough for him to leave Ayla over her.
"I just heard it from someone. Don't take it too seriously. Who knows what he's really thinking? Maybe he just doesn't like Ayla anymore and used it as an excuse."
"I gotta go now. I have an experiment to prep for."
After hanging up, Sharon didn't dwell on what Sophie had said. She put down her phone and started getting the equipment ready for her experiment.
In the top-floor office, Seb had also heard the news about Ayla and Leo's divorce. His eyes narrowed, and a dangerous aura surrounded him.
It seemed Leo was gearing up to go after Silvercrest Group.
"Mr. Smith, Leo gave the gaming company back to the Bridges Group to finalize his divorce with Ayla."
Seb's expression remained indifferent. "Let's see what he does next."
"Understood."
That evening, on the way home, Sharon brought up Ayla and Leo's divorce to Seb.
"I already know about it."
Seb's grip on the documents tightened, his knuckles turning white. He didn't tell Sharon that Leo's real target was her, not wanting to worry her.
Seeing his troubled expression, Sharon asked, "Is something bothering you? Is everything okay at the company?"
"Everything's fine. Don't worry." Seb looked at her, his eyes reassuring.
"Really?" Sharon asked.
"If there was a problem, I'd be working late at the office right now."
Sharon thought about it and nodded, finally relieved. "Alright then."
When they got home, as soon as they stepped into the living room, Demetrius ran up to Sharon with a drawing. "Mom, look! I drew a picture of the three of us today."
Sharon took the drawing and saw a picture of the three of them holding hands. She couldn't help but smile.
"It's wonderful, sweetheart! Great job!"
She kissed him on the cheek, her face full of affection.
Demetrius happily showed the drawing to Seb, who also praised him, making Demetrius beam with pride.
"I'm going to hang my drawing in my room."
Seeing his smile, Sharon smiled too. "Alright, after dinner, I'll help you hang it up."
"Thanks, Mom!"
During dinner, Dana mentioned that Demetrius's teacher had said there would be a parent-child sports day at the kindergarten on Friday and that it would be great if Demetrius's father could attend.
Sharon looked at Seb. "I can take the day off on Friday. Do you have time? If not, I can go alone."
"It's Demetrius's first sports day. Even if I'm busy, I'll make time."
"Okay, I'll request the day off then," Sharon said with a smile.
After dinner, Sharon went upstairs with Demetrius to hang his drawing, while Seb went to his study.
Sitting down, he called Paul. "Move Friday's meeting to Thursday and bring any urgent documents to my office in the next two days. Clear my schedule for Friday."
"Mr. Smith, do you have new plans for Friday?"
"Yeah." Seb flipped through some files, his tone calm. "Demetrius's kindergarten has a parent-child sports day. I need to be there."
"Got it."
Friday morning came quickly. After breakfast, the family headed to Demetrius's kindergarten.
Sharon wore a pink tracksuit with a simple white T-shirt underneath. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and she wore light makeup, looking fresh and pretty.
Seb wore a matching tracksuit, but in black. It was the first time Sharon had seen him in casual clothes, which made him look several years younger. If it weren't for his strong presence, he could easily pass for a college student.
Demetrius wore a light gray tracksuit, his face clean and looking both obedient and adorable.
As soon as they got out of the car and walked into the kindergarten, they attracted a lot of attention.
Noticing the envious looks from his classmates, Demetrius walked with his chin up, feeling more confident than usual.
Demetrius's teacher, Connie, approached them. Seeing Seb and Sharon, she was momentarily stunned by their looks.
No wonder Demetrius was so good-looking; he had inherited the best features from both parents.
"Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, good morning. The sports day starts at ten. You can walk around the campus or head to the field. The seats have the children's names and numbers on them, so you can rest there."
Sharon smiled. "Thank you, Ms. Price."
"You're welcome. I'll be around if you need anything."
After Connie left, Seb and Sharon walked around the campus with Demetrius. When it was almost time, they headed to the field.
As they found their seats, they noticed Jerold and Leo sitting nearby.
Seb's eyes turned cold as he looked at Leo without any warmth.
Leo smiled, seemingly unfazed by Seb's coldness. "Mr. Smith, what a coincidence. You found time to attend the sports day."
Seb sat next to him, his face expressionless. "Mr. Wendy, you manage a big company like Vertex Innovations Group and still find time to scheme against others, of course, I can make time too."
"Mr. Smith, business is like a battlefield. It's normal to scheme against each other. Just don't end up being the one schemed against, right?"
Catching the underlying meaning, Seb nodded. "You're right, Mr. Wendy. Just hope that if you ever become the one being schemed against, you can handle it gracefully."
"Of course."
Sharon sat nearby, holding Demetrius and talking to him gently, seemingly unaware of the tension between the two men.
Jerold, sitting next to Leo, looked at Demetrius in Sharon's arms with envy and jealousy.
Why did Demetrius have such loving parents while his own were divorced?
He looked away, still feeling deeply unbalanced.
"Dad, isn't Mom coming?"
Leo looked down at him. "No, your mom is injured and in a wheelchair. She can't join the sports day."
"I just want Mom to be here... Even if she just watches us, Dad, I want Mom to come."
