Chapter 157 It's Not Good for Either of Us

Seeing Sharon stay put, Karen whispered, "Staying won't help. It'll just make Robert angrier."

Seb, nearby, smiled at Sharon. "Don't worry, I got this."

After a few seconds, Sharon nodded. "Alright."

Sharon and Karen left the ward and sat in the hallway. They were silent for a bit.

Karen broke the silence. "Sharon, staying here isn't bad. This hospital's pretty good, I..."

Sharon cut her off coldly. "Karen, you don't want to go abroad because Leo's coming back, right?"

Karen looked shocked and guilty. "How did you know?"

"He called me yesterday."

Karen frowned, surprised Leo told Sharon so soon.

"Since you know, I'll be straight. Yes, I don't want to leave because he's coming back."

"You and Dad would be safer abroad."

"I know, but I don't want your issues with the Smith family to affect him. If we stay, you'll think twice before acting against them."

Sharon smirked. "Finally, some honesty."

Sharon had doubted Karen from the start. Robert always listened to Karen, so why would he refuse to go abroad now? It was Karen who didn't want to leave.

"I know it's unfair to you, but it's also unfair to Leo if your issues mess up his future. He's my only son. I hope you get that."

"If you don't want to go, I can't force you. But I won't stop my plans just because you're staying. I hope you understand."

Karen frowned, anger flashing. "Why make everyone miserable to be happy? That accident bankrupted Robert Pharmaceuticals, and Robert doesn't even dig into it. Why are you so stubborn?"

If Sharon's actions didn't affect Karen, Robert, or Leo, it would be one thing. But opposing the Smith family was another.

Sharon replied slowly, "He doesn't pursue it because he can't, so he convinces himself to let it go."

Karen sneered. "And you think you can? Know your limits. You'll regret being stubborn!"

Sharon's hand tightened, her eyes cold.

Seeing no response, Karen continued, "I don't care what you're gonna do, but if you harm Leo, I won't let you off!"

Seb's cold voice came from a distance. "Mrs. Wright, you don't get to lecture my girlfriend!"

Karen turned and met Seb's icy gaze, shivering but quickly regaining composure.

"Mr. Smith, you and Sharon are just dating, not married. Our family matters are none of your business."

Seb's eyes narrowed dangerously.

Sensing Seb's anger, Sharon stood up and walked over to him.

"Did you finish talking with my dad?"

Seb looked down at her and said, "Yeah."

"I'll go in, say a few words, then we can leave."

"Alright."

Sharon walked into the hospital room. Surprisingly, Robert looked calmer, though still stern.

"Dad, think about the treatment abroad. If you really don't want to go, I won't force you."

Robert looked up at Sharon and said coldly, "No need to think. I've made up my mind. As for you and Seb, think it over carefully. He's Alex's Uncle. Being with him means public scrutiny and opposition from the Smith family. It'll be a tough road."

Sharon was taken aback, curious about what Seb had said to Robert to change his attitude.

"Dad, I've thought it through."

"As long as you're sure. I won't say more. I can't help you now. The path you choose is yours. Whether it's joy or hardship, you'll face it yourself."

Sharon nodded. "I understand."

On the way back to the villa, Sharon couldn't help but ask Seb what he had said to Robert.

Seb smiled. "It's a secret."

She kept asking, but Seb didn't reveal anything, so Sharon gave up.

As soon as they returned to the villa, they saw Alex's car parked at the entrance.

Seb's smile vanished, replaced by a menacing aura.

As they got out of the car, Alex and Clara approached.

Clara looked extremely displeased, glaring at Sharon with anger and resentment.

Alex spoke first. "Uncle Seb, I need to talk to Sharon. Alone."

"No."

Seb's immediate refusal made Alex frown, but he suppressed his anger, remembering they were there to apologize.

He looked at Sharon, trying to control his tone. "Sharon, my mom and I are here to apologize for her accusing you of hitting her. We hope you can be lenient and let this go."

Because Sharon refused to reconcile, the matter had spread widely in Metropolis.

If it wasn't resolved soon, it would inevitably reach the company.

Alex had just taken over the company from David, and the shareholders were already dissatisfied with him. If they found out about this, they would definitely use it against him.

Before he could firmly establish himself in the company, Alex couldn't allow such a thing to happen.

Sharon raised an eyebrow and looked at Clara, who was glaring at her resentfully, and smiled slightly. "You say you and Mrs. Clark are here to apologize, but I don't see any remorse on her face. Instead, she looks like she wants to tear me apart."

Clara, who hadn't wanted to come in the first place, almost exploded at Sharon's sarcastic remark.

Alex shot her a warning look, and she swallowed her words.

Taking a deep breath, Clara forced a smile. "Sharon, I did go too far this time. I apologize. We were once family, and making this public won't help anyone. Can you ask your lawyer to withdraw the lawsuit?"
