Chapter 270 Exactly the Same as When You Were a Kid!

Sharon was caught off guard for a sec and turned to Seb. "Nah, Mr. Smith. Why do you ask?"

Seb's eyes were locked on her, full of some deep, unreadable stuff.

"If not, why you keeping your distance?"

Sharon stiffened up, quickly sat up straight, and mumbled, "Mr. Smith, I just didn't wanna mess with your work."

When Sharon straightened up, the gap between her and Seb shrank a lot.

She put her hands neatly on her lap, eyes down, looking all prim and proper.

Seb dropped the documents, suddenly remembering the day he saw her chatting with someone in a car, all smiles. But with him, she seemed to wanna keep her distance.

Seb couldn't figure it out. Did he look that scary?

They stayed quiet all the way to the Silvercrest Group branch office. When they got out of the car, Sharon finally let out a sigh of relief.

She'd been all tense in the car, not her usual self at all.

Rufus grinned at her. "Ms. Roach, this way, please."

Sharon followed him into a conference room packed with seventy or eighty Silvercrest Group employees.

She'd given tons of lectures before, so she wasn't nervous at all facing a crowd. She stepped up to the podium and started sharing her research findings and process.

The lecture went on for over three hours, ending with loud applause. Some folks even recorded the whole thing. Her lecture video spread like wildfire within Silvercrest Group, and it wasn't long before Paul saw it too.

Seeing Sharon in the video, he was shocked.

Wasn't Sharon supposed to be dead?

How could she just pop up after five years? And she even gave a lecture at the Silvercrest Group branch. Did this mean she met Seb?

Thinking about it, Paul quickly called Rufus.

Meanwhile, Rebecca also saw the video.

Using her status as Seb's fiancée, she had built good relationships with many Silvercrest Group employees. One of them, always trying to please her, sent her the video.

Rebecca opened it and saw Sharon's lecture, her face turning furious.

Rebecca realized she had to keep Sharon away from Seb for good!

After the lecture, Sharon was about to leave when she got a call from the nanny, saying Demetrius had fallen and hurt his head, maybe needing stitches, and was on the way to the hospital.

Hearing this, Sharon's face went pale, and she quickly headed for the door.

But it was rush hour, and she couldn't get a ride even after waiting for over ten minutes.

Just as she was getting super anxious, Seb's car pulled up beside her.

The passenger window rolled down, and Rufus looked at her. "Ms. Roach, where you headed? We'll take you."

In her panic, Sharon didn't think twice and jumped into the passenger seat.

She said nervously, "Mr. Warren, please, I need to get to Radiant Care Hospital."

As she was buckling up, she noticed someone in the back seat.

Seeing it was Seb, her face went pale, and her hands started shaking.

"Mr. Warren, maybe I should just grab a cab. Mr. Smith is really busy, and I don't wanna waste his time."

She started to unbuckle her seatbelt, but before she could open the door, Seb's voice came from the back.

"I got nothing going on tonight. Ms. Roach, you seem really worried; it must be a family member or friend in the hospital. Rufus, go to the hospital."

His voice was cold but had that bossy vibe.

"Got it," Rufus replied, locked the doors, and hit the gas.

Sharon wanted to say no, but the car was already moving, so refusing now would just look weird and might make Seb suspicious. She had no choice but to buckle up.

The half-hour drive felt like an eternity for Sharon.

She didn't want too much interaction with Seb, but now it seemed like fate had other plans.

When the car finally pulled up at Radiant Care Hospital, Sharon hopped out and said, "Mr. Smith, Mr. Warren, thanks a lot."

Rufus gave her a warm smile. "No problem, Ms. Roach."

Sharon hurried into the clinic, searching for Demetrius.

After a bit, she found Demetrius sitting on a hospital bed with a bandage on his forehead, still bleeding. She rushed over, almost in tears. "Demetrius, how are you, sweetie?"

Seeing her, Demetrius pouted but held back the tears. "Mom, I'm okay. I didn't cry at all today. The nurse said I was really brave."

"Yes, my brave little man, good job!"

Seeing he was in good spirits, Sharon finally relaxed. She then turned to the nanny beside him, asking, "Bonnie, how did Demetrius hurt his forehead?"

Bonnie shook her head, looking guilty. "Ms. Roach, I was in the kitchen cooking, and Demetrius was playing in the living room. I don't know how he fell. He came to me, tugged on my clothes, and when I turned around, his face was covered in blood. I was so scared I almost fainted. I'm really sorry, it's my fault for not watching him closely."

Sharon looked at Demetrius. "Demetrius, do you remember how you hurt your forehead?"

Demetrius nodded. "I was playing in the living room and stepped on a toy by accident, then slipped and fell."

"Okay, got it."

There were cameras in the living room; Sharon thought she'd check the footage when she got home to see what really happened.

"Bonnie, you can head back now. I'll take care of Demetrius."

"Okay, Ms. Roach. I've almost finished preparing the food; you just need to cook it."

"Alright." Sharon carried Demetrius out of the hospital and grabbed a cab home.

On the way back, Demetrius fell asleep, his little face still stained with blood, making Sharon's heart ache.

When they got home, she gently put Demetrius on the bed, carefully wiped the blood off his face with a wet towel, covered him with a blanket, and then went to check the living room cameras.

Seeing that Demetrius had indeed fallen on his own, Sharon finally felt relieved.

Meanwhile, not long after Sharon got out of the car, Rufus couldn't help but comment. "Mr. Smith, Paul hit me up today asking about Ms. Roach."

Seb paused his reading and frowned. "Why's Paul asking about Ms. Roach?"

"Ms. Roach's lecture at the branch office got recorded and shared in the company group. Paul saw it and got curious, so he asked me. He probably thought Ms. Roach was pretty and just asked casually."

Seb closed the document, narrowing his eyes.

He knew Paul wasn't the type to get interested in pretty faces. If he suddenly asked, there had to be a reason.

However, Seb wasn't too interested in this. As long as his team did their jobs, he didn't meddle in their personal lives.

The next second, his phone rang.

As soon as Seb answered, an excited voice came from the other end. "Seb, you won't believe it! I saw a kid at the hospital today who looks exactly like you did when you were little!"
