Chapter 518 We Will Meet Soon
Sharon had initially planned to have a calm discussion with Demetrius, hoping he would gradually open up and tell her the truth.
But now, she felt an urgent need to find out where the money in Demetrius's account had come from.
Sharon rarely spoke to Demetrius so sternly, and it startled him so much that he dropped his building blocks.
His eyes reddened, but he stubbornly stared at Sharon, refusing to speak.
"Demetrius, who exactly is this so-called teacher of yours?"
Why would someone transfer so much money to Demetrius's account for no apparent reason?
"I'm not telling!"
Sharon's brow furrowed, her expression growing increasingly severe.
"If you don't tell me, I'll take away all your electronics starting today."
Hearing this, Demetrius immediately got angry. "Mom, I hate you! You're not the loving, gentle mom you used to be!"
After shouting this, Demetrius turned and ran upstairs. Soon, a loud door slam echoed from above.
Seb quickly emerged from his study, seeing Sharon standing in the living room with a clear look of anger on her face.
He hurried over to her. "What happened? Did you have a fight with Demetrius?"
Sharon nodded, her voice low. "I just asked him where the money in his account came from. He accidentally let slip that he has a teacher, and it seems that teacher is the one who transferred the money."
She looked at Seb. "You were right. We need to figure out what's going on with that money."
The thought of someone transferring such a large sum to a five-year-old made Sharon uneasy.
What could the person's intentions be?
Seeing Sharon's unease, Seb pulled her into his arms and softly reassured her, "Don't worry too much. I've already got someone looking into it. We should have answers soon. And since the person transferred so much money to Demetrius, it's unlikely they're trying to scam him. Just keep a close eye on Demetrius for now to ensure he's safe."
Sharon lowered her gaze, thinking for a moment before nodding. "You're right. Starting tomorrow, I'll keep Demetrius at home. I don't have any work right now, so I'll wait until you find out what's going on before deciding our next steps."
"Okay."
Upstairs, in Demetrius's room.
He took out his phone and went into the bathroom to dial a number.
After a few rings, a young man's voice answered. "Demetrius, what's wrong?"
Demetrius choked up. "Sir, I might not be able to contact you for a while."
"Why are you crying? What happened?"
Demetrius sniffled. "My mom asked about the money in my account. I accidentally mentioned you, and now she wants to take away all my electronic devices."
The person on the other end paused before speaking. "That money is what you earned yourself. Didn't you tell your mom that?"
"I did, but she doesn't believe me..."
"Alright... Just listen to your mom for now. We'll meet soon."
Demetrius's eyes widened in disbelief. "Really?"
He had been learning from his teacher for two years but had never met him. His teacher always said they would meet one day, and Demetrius thought it would be when he was older.
He didn't expect his teacher to say they would meet soon.
"Really. I never lie to you, do I?"
"No, you don't!"
Hanging up the phone, Demetrius felt much better knowing he would meet his teacher soon.
He jumped off the toilet and walked out of the bathroom with his phone.
As soon as he returned to his bedroom, there was a knock on the door.
"Demetrius, are you in there? Can you open the door? Dad wants to talk to you."
Seb's gentle voice came from the other side of the door. Demetrius hesitated for a moment but then opened the door.
"Dad, if you're going to ask about my teacher like Mom did, I'm not telling you."
Seb smiled and patted his head. "Don't worry, buddy. I'm not here to grill you. Mom and I talked, and she won't ask you again either. She was just worried about you and didn't want you to be in danger."
"My teacher would never hurt me!"
"I know, but Mom was just concerned. She realizes she was too harsh and wants to apologize. Will you accept her apology?"
Demetrius hesitated, then nodded. "I will forgive Mom."
"Great. Let's go downstairs together so Mom can apologize, okay?"
"Okay."
Seb took Demetrius downstairs, and Sharon indeed apologized to him.
"Demetrius, I'm sorry. I was too anxious earlier. Please don't be mad at me. I won't ask you about it anymore, okay?"
"Okay, Mom. I'm not mad anymore."
"That's good. You can go back to playing with your building blocks. Dad and I will join you."
The three of them played with the building blocks until after nine, when Dana took Demetrius to bathe and go to bed.
After Demetrius went upstairs, Sharon turned to Seb. "The money in Demetrius's account could save Silvercrest Group. If we can't use it, is there really no other way to save the company from bankruptcy?"
Seb looked at her. "No, there isn't."
Sharon bit her lip, hesitating before speaking. "What if... you use the money to save Silvercrest Group first, and then repay it once the company stabilizes?"
After a moment of silence, Seb spoke softly. "Let's wait until we find out who transferred the money to Demetrius before deciding what to do with it."
"Why are you so stubborn? By the time you find out, Silvercrest Group might already be bankrupt. We have this money now, so let's use it and deal with the rest later."
Seeing him remain silent, Sharon continued, "And only if Silvercrest Group survives will you have the power to stand up to Leo and protect Demetrius and me. The most important thing is to save Silvercrest Group."
Thinking about Leo's recent harassment of her and Demetrius, Sharon's eyes flashed with disgust.
"Sharon, let me think about it."
He didn't want to use the money because he feared it might cause problems for Demetrius later.
But on second thought, Sharon was right. Only if Silvercrest Group survived could he protect them.
If the money turned out to be problematic and Silvercrest Group went bankrupt, he would be even less able to protect them.
"Alright, take your time, but Silvercrest Group is already in the process of filing for bankruptcy. You don't have much time to think."
Seb nodded. "I know. You go to bed. I still have some documents to finish in the study."
