Chapter 563 Do Not Need His Pretense

Sharon's face changed, and she quickly asked, "Which hospital?"

After getting the details, she hung up and looked at Seb.

"My dad suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital. I need to go back."

"I'll go with you."

"No, you stay here with Demetrius. I'll go check on him first. If it's not serious, I'll come back to you guys."

"If he's sick, Demetrius and I will just worry if we stay here. We'll go with you."

Seeing the determination in Seb's eyes, Sharon hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

They arrived at the hospital over an hour later.

As soon as they reached the hospital room, the housekeeper hurried over. "Ms. Roach, Mr. Wright hasn't woken up yet."

"What happened? Why did he suddenly collapse?"

The housekeeper shook her head. "I don't know. This morning, a well-dressed middle-aged woman came to see Mr. Wright. He asked me to go buy some groceries. When I came back, the woman was leaving, and shortly after, Mr. Wright collapsed."

Sharon's face darkened. She immediately took out her phone and pulled up the surveillance footage from Robert's house.

She rewound to the time the housekeeper mentioned and saw that it was Carolyn who had visited Robert. She frowned.

The housekeeper saw the footage on her phone and quickly said, "That's the woman. She seemed to have an argument with Mr. Wright. When I came back, he was red with anger."

Sharon put away her phone and asked, "What did the doctor say? Does my dad need to stay in the hospital?"

"The doctor said he needs to stay for three days for further tests to see if there's any issue."

"Okay, we'll stay here. Can you go back and pack some clothes for my dad?"

"Sure, Ms. Roach."

After the housekeeper left, Sharon pushed open the door and walked into the hospital room.

Robert was still unconscious, a breathing mask on his face, rising and falling with his weak breaths.

Seb walked up to her and said softly, "Sharon, don't worry too much. Dad will be okay."

"Yeah, you should take Demetrius home. I'll stay here."

Seeing her pale face, Seb said, "I'll stay here. You and Demetrius go home and rest. I'll call you when Dad wakes up."

"No, I'll feel better staying here. It's not suitable for Demetrius to stay here. You should take him home."

Seeing Sharon's insistence, Seb had no choice but to agree. "Alright, I'll take Demetrius home first and then come back to be with you."

"Okay."

After Seb and Demetrius left, Sharon glanced at Robert on the bed, then stepped out of the room and called Alton.

After a few rings, he picked up. "Sharon, what's up? Did you get the plane ticket I sent you?"

Sharon's voice was cold. "Is she with you right now? I need to talk to her."

Sensing something was wrong, Alton paused before speaking. "We're not at the same hotel. What's going on? Did something happen?"

"She and my dad have been divorced for years. They're from two different worlds now. Why did she go to my dad's place and make him so angry that he collapsed and is now lying in the hospital?"

"Sharon, there must be some misunderstanding. She's not that kind of person."

"Do I need to send you the surveillance footage to prove it was her?"

Alton was silent for a moment before speaking softly. "Sharon, I'll ask Carolyn about it and get back to you. By the way, which hospital is your father in? I'll come visit him."

"There's no need. My dad has nothing to do with the Roach family and her anymore. I hope she won't disturb my dad's peaceful life again."

With that, Sharon hung up the phone.

On the other end, Alton immediately called Carolyn.

"What is it?" Carolyn's voice was cold, with a hint of annoyance.

"Aunt Carolyn, did you go see Sharon's father?"

"How did you know?"

"Sharon just called me. She said her father collapsed because of you and is still unconscious in the hospital."

There was a brief silence on the other end, followed by Carolyn's mocking voice.

"I just told him I was taking Sharon to Stellaria and mentioned some past things. If he couldn't handle that and collapsed, his mental strength is really lacking!"

Alton sighed. "Aunt Carolyn, you and Sharon's father have been divorced for years. There's no need to see him again. If you hurt him, Sharon will definitely be upset with you. Don't forget, she's lived with her father all these years. Her feelings for him are definitely deeper than for you."

Carolyn snorted. "Whether she's upset with me or not is none of my concern. Don't expect me to cater to her."

"Didn't you say you wanted to get along with her before you came?"

The other end was silent for a while before Carolyn spoke again. "Got it. Don't worry, I don't plan to see Robert again."

With that, Carolyn hung up.

Alton called his assistant to find out which hospital Robert was in.

Soon, the assistant sent over the hospital and room number.

Alton was about to change and visit when he stopped, reconsidered, and called his assistant again.

"Can you send some supplements to Mr. Wright's hospital room?"

"Sure, Mr. Roach."

After hanging up, Alton returned to his desk to continue working.

Meanwhile, Sharon waited in the hospital room for over an hour before Robert finally woke up.

She quickly called the doctor, who confirmed that Robert's condition was stable, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Dad, how are you feeling? If you're uncomfortable anywhere, let me know, and I'll tell the doctor."

Robert shook his head and reached out a trembling hand to her.

Sharon quickly held his hand. "Dad, what is it? Tell me."

"Don't... don't go to Stellaria."

Robert's voice was faint, but Sharon heard him.

She lowered her eyes and said softly, "Dad, I've already agreed to go to Stellaria. The flight is in a couple of days. Don't worry about it. The most important thing now is for you to get better."

Robert shook his head. "Don't go. Your mom... she's lying to you."

She never intended for Sharon to inherit the Stoll family. She already had her own family and two children.

To Carolyn, Sharon was just a tool to be used.

The Carolyn of today was no longer the woman who was willing to endure hardships with him.

Sharon tightened her grip on his hand and said softly, "Dad, don't worry. I know what I'm doing. You rest well. I'll go home and make you some chicken soup."

Seeing that Sharon wouldn't listen to him, Robert's eyes reddened, and he stared at her intently.

"Sharon, if you go to Stellaria... you'll be hurting yourself."

Sharon pressed her lips together. "Dad, don't worry. Since I've decided to go to Stellaria, I'm prepared to face everything. You don't need to worry about me."

Robert wanted to say more, but the door opened just then, and the housekeeper walked in with Robert's clothes.

"Ms. Roach, has Mr. Wright woken up?"

Sharon nodded. "Yes, he's awake. The doctor just checked on him and said there's no immediate concern. They'll keep observing him."

"Okay, Ms. Roach. If you have things to do, you can go ahead. I'll notify you if anything comes up."

Sharon thought there wasn't much she could do here, so she nodded and stood up. "Alright, call me if anything happens. If you need help, I'll hire a couple of nurses."

The housekeeper quickly waved her hands. "No need, I can manage."

"Okay."

Sharon turned to Robert and said softly, "Dad, I'll go home and make you some chicken soup. I'll bring it over this afternoon. As for going to Stellaria, it's my decision. Don't worry too much and focus on getting better."

Robert was silent for a moment before he spoke slowly. "You have your own ideas. I can't control you anymore... do as you wish."

Sharon didn't say anything else and left the room.

As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she received a call from Seb.

"Sharon, I just dropped Demetrius off at home. I'm heading to the hospital now."

"No need, Dad's already awake. I'm heading home now."

"I'll come pick you up."

"I'll just take a cab. It'll be quicker."

Sharon took a cab and arrived at the villa a little after noon.

As she walked into the living room, she saw Seb on the phone, sitting on the couch, while Demetrius played with building blocks on the carpet.

Seeing Sharon, Seb spoke softly into the phone, "Let's leave it at that for now. I'll get back to you later."

He hung up and walked over to take Sharon's bag.

"How's Dad?"

"He's okay. The doctor said he collapsed from emotional stress. They'll observe him for a few days, and if everything's fine, he can be discharged in a couple of days."

"Good. Let's have lunch. You didn't get to eat breakfast this morning."

"Yeah."

After lunch, Sharon went to the kitchen to prepare some food. Seb walked up behind her, wrapped his arms around her, and sighed.

"I just wanted to spend these three days peacefully with you and Demetrius. Why do so many things keep happening? When will we ever have a quiet life without interruptions?"

Hearing the sadness in Seb's voice, Sharon lowered her eyes and smiled bitterly. "Probably when our son grows up and takes over your company, we'll finally have our time alone."

"Alright..."

Realistically, that would be another twenty or thirty years.

Sharon turned to him. "Okay, you have work to do, right? Go handle it. We're back now, so you can take care of your work."

Seb nodded, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. "Okay. Let me know when you're heading to the hospital. I'll go with you."

"Sure."

An hour later, Sharon packed the chicken soup and headed to the study.

She knocked on the door and was about to enter when she saw Seb asleep at his desk.

She paused, feeling a pang of heartache.

Seb had been busy with work and hadn't slept well these past few days. He was probably at his limit.

He hadn't mentioned it because he didn't want her to worry.

After a moment's hesitation, Sharon quietly closed the door and left.

Dana saw her leaving with the thermos and quickly approached. "Mrs. Smith, isn't Mr. Smith going with you to the hospital?"

Sharon turned to her and nodded. "He's asleep. He hasn't rested well lately. Let him sleep."

"Okay. Do you need a driver to take you?"

"No, I'll drive myself."

With that, Sharon left.

When she arrived at the hospital, she carried the chicken soup to Robert's room.

As she reached the door, she heard voices inside.

She pushed the door open and saw a young man in his twenties handing some supplements to the housekeeper, who was trying to refuse them.

Robert, lying in bed, was frowning and telling the housekeeper to send the man away, refusing to accept the items.

Hearing the door open, everyone turned to look.

Seeing Sharon, the housekeeper quickly approached. "Ms. Roach, this gentleman said he was sent by Mr. Roach to bring supplements for Mr. Wright. But Mr. Wright doesn't want to accept them and asked me to send him away. The gentleman said he can't go back without delivering them."

She seemed unsure how to handle the situation.

Sharon nodded, her expression cold. "Alright, I'll handle it."

She handed the chicken soup to the housekeeper and looked at the young man. "You were sent by Alton, right? Please step outside with me."

The man followed her out of the room. Once they were in the hallway, Sharon spoke. "Take the items back and tell Alton that I don't need his pretense. What I want is for the Roach family and the Stoll family to stop bothering my dad."

"Understood, Ms. Roach. I'll relay the message to Mr. Roach."

After sending the man away, Sharon returned to the room.

Robert looked better, the breathing mask removed from his face.

The housekeeper had already served a bowl of chicken soup and handed it to Robert.

Sharon sat by the bed and said, "Dad, I'll talk to the Roach family. They won't bother you anymore."

Robert sighed. "Sharon, it doesn't matter if the Roach family comes or not. What matters is that I hope you'll reconsider going to Stellaria. Your mom has a son and a daughter there. How could she possibly hand over her company to you?"

He's seen a lot over the years and suspected Carolyn's intention was to use Sharon, not to hand over the company.

If Sharon went abroad, she'd be isolated and at Carolyn's mercy.

"Dad, this is between me and her. Don't worry about it. Just focus on getting better. Worrying won't help."

"It's my fault... If the pharmaceutical factory hadn't gone bankrupt back then, you wouldn't have to..."

Sharon interrupted him. "Dad, that was years ago. Let's not talk about it. Drink the chicken soup before it gets cold."
