Chapter 542 I Despise Threats
"You mean... teaming up with other companies to take on Silvercrest Group?" Damon looked at Garry, frowning. "But Silvercrest Group helped us out before. If we turn on them now, won't people think we're ungrateful?"
Garry let out a cold laugh. "I gave Seb a chance, but he didn't appreciate it. Since that's the case, he can't blame me for being ruthless. We need to get back that 10% stake in the Bridges Group!"
With those shares in Seb's hands, it was like a sword hanging over Garry's head, keeping him up at night.
He had initially planned to buy back the shares from Seb, but Seb's greed got in the way.
"But..."
"No buts. Do you want the Bridges Group to end up being called Smith?" Garry glared at Damon, his face full of anger.
Damon quickly explained, "Grandpa, of course, I don't want the Bridges Group to become someone else's company. But the Bridges Group has just stabilized. If we rashly cooperate with other companies, it might create hidden dangers."
Seb had just helped the Bridges Group, and if they turned on him immediately, who would trust the Bridges Group in the future?
"The most important thing now is to get back that 10% stake. I can't worry about any other potential issues right now. We'll deal with them later."
Seeing Garry's determination, Damon had no choice but to nod. "Alright, what should I do? I'll follow your lead."
"You don't need to worry about it. You wouldn't handle it well anyway. Just manage the company properly. I'll take care of the rest."
Damon understood that he had just joined the company and hadn't achieved anything yet. Seeking cooperation from others would be difficult. He nodded, "Okay, I understand."
"Alright, you can go now. I need to think about who to contact."
"Okay, Grandpa, I'll leave now."
After Damon left, Garry fell into deep thought.
After a while, he took out a pen and paper and started writing down the names of the people he planned to contact.
After some consideration, he crossed out a few names, leaving only five.
He took a deep breath and called in the butler, handing him the paper.
"Send out invitations to these people for dinner at my mansion tomorrow."
The butler bowed his head. "Yes, Mr. Bridges, I'll do it right away."
Early the next morning, Garry had just gotten up when a servant hurried into the living room.
"Mr. Bridges, someone named Jesse is here to see you."
Garry's eyes flashed with confusion. He frowned, "Jesse? I don't know anyone by that name."
"What should I do? Should I turn him away?"
Garry thought for a moment, then stood up. "I'll go see him."
Soon, Garry was at the door.
Seeing the stretch Lincoln parked outside, Garry was puzzled.
As he wondered about the visitor's purpose, the back door of the car opened, and a tall, well-dressed man stepped out.
Garry frowned. "Who are you?"
Jesse smiled. "Mr. Bridges, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I apologize for not giving you a heads-up. I'm here to discuss a business deal."
"What kind of deal?"
"I heard that 10% of the Bridges Group's shares are in Seb's hands. If you're willing to work with me, I can help you get those shares back."
Garry's face darkened, and his gaze turned cold. "Who are you? I don't know you. Why should I trust you?"
Jesse's smile deepened. "Mr. Bridges, who I am isn't important. What's important is that I can help you and the Bridges Group."
"I asked, why should I trust you?"
"I can invest a hundred million dollars in the Bridges Group right now, no strings attached."
As he spoke, Jesse took out his phone and made a call. "Transfer a hundred million dollars to the Bridges Group's account immediately."
Almost seconds after he hung up, Garry's phone rang.
"Grandpa, someone just transferred a hundred million dollars to the Bridges Group's account!"
Garry's expression changed. He replied coldly, "Got it. Don't touch that money until I say so."
"Okay."
Hanging up, Garry looked at Jesse. "Come in, let's talk."
Jesse followed Garry into the study. Once the door was closed, Garry looked at him.
"I believe you have the ability to help me against Seb, but I need to know why you're targeting him. Otherwise, I can't trust you."
If Jesse was sent by Seb to trick him, trusting him could lead to the Bridges Group falling into the Smiths' hands.
Jesse took a sip of water and smiled. "Mr. Bridges, don't worry. I'm not with Seb. I'm the vice president of MK Group. I'm back in the country to bankrupt Silvercrest Group. Here's my card."
Garry took the card, glanced at it, and placed it aside.
He had heard of MK Group, a large company based in Stellaria.
He placed the card on the table and looked at Jesse. "Mr. Scott, if I remember correctly, MK Group doesn't have any partnerships with domestic companies. Why are you targeting Seb?"
"I have my reasons, but it's not convenient to share with you. Just know that I'll help you against Seb."
Garry smiled. "Mr. Scott, I'm afraid I can't work with you."
He could team up with other Metropolis companies against Silvercrest Group because they knew each other well.
But this Jesse, who appeared out of nowhere, was an unknown. Trusting him could lead to the Bridges Group being deceived and in even greater danger.
Jesse's eyes narrowed. "Mr. Bridges, I advise you to reconsider. Taking down the Bridges Group would be a simple task for me."
Garry's gaze hardened. "If it's so easy, why do you need our cooperation?"
"Mr. Bridges, I prefer not to get my hands dirty. I want the Bridges Group to be my weapon. If you refuse, the Bridges Group will go bankrupt in a few days."
With that, Jesse stood up. "Think it over and let me know."
Hearing the threat in his voice, Garry's face turned livid with anger.
He glared at Jesse's back, his voice cold. "No need to think. Mr. Scott, I despise threats. I won't work with you."
Jesse turned back, smiling. "Mr. Bridges, you'll change your mind."
Leaving the Bridges family, Jesse told the driver, "Back to the hotel."
Not long after Jesse left, Garry received a call from Damon.
"Grandpa, hackers are attacking our company's firewall. The system is down!"
