Chapter 609 I Hope Mom Gives Me a Little Sister
Seb glanced down at Demetrius and took the drawing he handed over.
The picture showed a family of four: Seb and Sharon holding hands with Demetrius and a little girl, with a backdrop of blue skies and white clouds.
Seb's lips curled into a smile as he pointed to the little girl. "Who's this?"
"That's my sister. I want Mom to give me a sister."
"What if it's a brother instead?"
"I'll protect him, too."
Seeing Demetrius's innocent face, Seb's smile deepened. "Well, looks like our Demetrius is growing up, thinking about protecting his siblings."
"Dad, when are you and Mom gonna give me a brother or sister?"
"Soon, just a little while longer."
Demetrius's eyes widened with excitement as he looked at Seb. "Really? Dad, you're not messing with me, right?"
"Of course not. When have I ever lied to you?"
Demetrius huffed. "You haven't lied to me a few times?"
Sharon had gone to Stellaria, saying she'd be back in a couple of days, but she ended up staying much longer. If Seb hadn't brought her back, Demetrius wouldn't have forgiven him.
"Alright, I know I was wrong. I promise I'll lie to you less in the future, okay?"
Demetrius remained silent.
"Demetrius, Dad has to go to work now. Mom is sleeping, so don't disturb her. Play in the living room, and if you need anything, come to the study and find me, okay?"
"Okay."
Back in the study, Seb called Paul and asked him to come over to the house.
Half an hour later, Paul knocked and entered the study.
"Mr. Smith."
Seb put down the document he was holding and looked at Paul. "I want to plan a wedding for Sharon. Contact a wedding planning company and have them come up with a few proposals."
Paul's eyes flashed with surprise, but he quickly nodded. "Alright, I'll get on it right away. Do you have any specific style requirements?"
"Let the wedding planners come up with the proposals first. I'll review them and then provide feedback and direction."
"Got it, Mr. Smith. If there's nothing else, I'll contact the wedding planners now."
"Good."
After Paul left, Seb called Randy. "Can you give me Sophie's contact information?"
"Uncle Seb, why do you need Sophie's contact info?"
"I need to discuss something with her."
"I'll send it to you on Facebook."
Soon, Randy sent over Sophie's phone number and Facebook profile.
Seb thought for a moment and added Sophie on Facebook.
A few minutes later, Sophie accepted his friend request and sent a question mark.
[It's Seb. Are you free tomorrow? I need to talk to you about something.]
She quickly replied.
[Is it about Randy?]
[No, it's not about him.]
[Okay.]
After setting the time and place, Seb specifically asked Sophie not to tell Sharon about their meeting, then put down his phone and continued working.
The next morning at ten, they met at a café near the Lee Group.
As soon as they sat down, Sophie raised an eyebrow at Seb. "Mr. Smith, what's this about? You don't want me to tell Sharon. Did you do something to upset her?"
Seb handed her a document. "Ms. Lee, I need you to fill out this questionnaire."
Sophie took it, puzzled, and opened it. The first question was: What is Sharon's favorite color?
She skimmed through it. There were over five hundred questions, all about Sharon.
Sophie looked up at Seb. "Mr. Smith, can I ask why you need me to fill this out?"
"I'm planning a wedding for Sharon. You've been her friend for many years, so you know her best. I need your help to fill this out so I can plan the wedding according to her preferences."
Sophie was surprised. "Alright, but there are a lot of questions. It might take me a day or two to finish. Is that okay?"
"That's fine, but the sooner, the better. Thank you."
Seeing Seb's serious expression, Sophie smiled. "It's no trouble at all. I'm happy to help with your wedding."
After parting ways with Seb, Sophie went back to her office.
As soon as she returned, she got a call from Randy.
"Sophie, what did Uncle Seb want? He didn't give you a hard time, did he?"
Hearing the concern in Randy's voice, Sophie put down her files. "Why would you think Seb would give me a hard time?"
There was a brief silence on the other end before Randy's low voice came through. "I was worried he might blame you for my decision to leave the Smith Group."
"Don't worry. He wanted to discuss something else. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."
"Sophie..."
Before Randy could finish, Sophie hung up.
Hearing the busy tone, Randy smiled helplessly and didn't call back.
It took Sophie two days to complete the questionnaire Seb had given her.
For some questions she wasn't sure about, she subtly asked Sharon for the answers.
"Mr. Smith, I worked hard on this questionnaire. You better plan a great wedding and not let me down!"
Seb took the questionnaire, his expression serious. "Thanks, Sophie. I promise I'll plan the perfect wedding for Sharon."
"Can't wait to see it."
Back at the office, Seb carefully reviewed the completed questionnaire and called Paul to discuss the details with the wedding planners.
For the next few days, Seb was swamped with wedding preparations, leaving early and coming home late.
On Friday night, Seb was discussing details with the wedding planners until after ten before heading home.
When he got back to the house, he was surprised to see Sharon still awake, watching TV on the couch.
"Sharon, why are you still up so late?"
Since becoming pregnant, Sharon had been very sleepy, sometimes going to bed as early as eight.
Sharon looked at him seriously. "Come here, I need to talk to you."
Seb changed his shoes and sat next to Sharon.
"What's up?"
"Tell me, why have you been working so late every day recently? Every time I call Paul, he says you're working late, but I asked the other shareholders at Silvercrest Group, and there haven't been any big projects requiring you to stay late. Are you just making excuses to stay at the office?"
Seeing the hurt in Sharon's eyes, Seb reached out to hug her, but she pulled away.
"Not until you explain yourself!"
Even when Sharon was angry, Seb found her adorable.
"Sharon, you're pregnant. You shouldn't get too worked up."
Sharon glared at him. "You know I'm pregnant, yet you work so late and leave so early. I haven't seen you before bed or when I wake up for days."
Pregnancy made her more sensitive, and Seb's long hours meant they missed out on spending time together, like their evening walks.
"I haven't been working late at the office. I've been doing something else, but I can't tell you what it is yet. You'll find out soon."
Sharon frowned at his secrecy. "What can't you tell me now? Why do I have to wait?"
"Because I want to surprise you. If I tell you now, it won't be a surprise."
Sharon suddenly remembered Sophie asking her strange questions recently. She had been puzzled, but now she thought it might be related to Seb's surprise.
"Alright, I won't ask. But you can't keep leaving early and coming home late. It makes me feel insecure."
Seb nodded. "Understood. Can I hug you now, honey?"
His eyes were full of warmth and love.
Sharon reached out to hug him. "Yes."
Just as Seb embraced Sharon, Demetrius's voice interrupted them. "Mom, Dad, if you want to hug, can you do it in your room? This is the living room, a public space. It's not appropriate to show off your affection here."
Seb let go of Sharon and looked at Demetrius. "Why are you still up so late?"
"I woke up thirsty and came down for some water."
As he spoke, Demetrius headed to the kitchen.
Sharon turned to follow him, but Seb stopped her.
"Sharon, Demetrius is five now. He can do a lot on his own. Let's wait and see if he needs help."
Judging by Demetrius's confident manner, it wasn't his first time getting water at night.
"Okay."
Soon, Demetrius came out of the kitchen with a glass of water.
Seeing Sharon and Seb still standing there, he exclaimed, "Mom, Dad, why are you still here?"
"We were waiting for you."
They all went upstairs together, stopping at Demetrius's bedroom door.
"Mom, Dad, I'm going in now."
After watching Demetrius go into his room, Sharon and Seb went to their own bedroom.
Seb took a shower, and when he came out, Sharon was already in bed.
He slipped under the covers and pulled Sharon into his arms.
"I haven't held you like this in days."
Recently, Seb had been so careful not to wake Sharon when he came to bed that he hadn't been able to hold her.
Sharon looked up at him. "That's because you've been coming home so late."
"My fault. From now on, no matter how busy I am, I'll come home to have dinner with you and Demetrius."
"You said it."
"I did. Now it's late. Let's sleep."
They fell asleep in each other's arms, the moonlight streaming through the window, casting a peaceful glow over the room.
The next morning, Sharon woke up and instinctively looked to her side, seeing Seb's handsome face up close.
Seeing he was still asleep, Sharon's lips curled into a smile, and she reached out to touch his face.
Just as her fingers were about to touch him, Seb's eyes suddenly opened.
Sharon's hand froze, and she was about to pull back when Seb caught it.
"Why did you stop?"
Sharon glared at him playfully. "Let go of me."
Seb chuckled and pulled her into his arms. "Sharon, you can touch me anytime you want. You don't have to wait until I'm asleep."
Sharon's face turned red, and she quickly retorted, "Who wants to touch you? I was trying to wake you up so you wouldn't be late for work!"
Seb raised an eyebrow. "Sharon, it's Saturday."
