Chapter 397 I Apologize to Ms. Roach

Seb tightened his grip on Sharon's waist a bit more before finally letting her go. He tidied up her slightly messy hair and whispered, "Let's go."

They got out of the car, and Sharon took Seb's arm as they walked inside together.

Leo and Ayla were at the door, greeting guests, and they spotted Seb and Sharon approaching.

Sharon was rocking a blue gradient strapless gown, her long hair flowing down her back like a waterfall. She looked like a mermaid, absolutely stunning and impossible to ignore.

Next to her, Seb was in a charcoal gray suit, tall and handsome, but his face was all business, giving off a vibe that kept people at a distance.

As Sharon and Seb walked gracefully towards them, everything else seemed to fade into the background.

Ayla, not knowing about Sharon and Leo's past, smiled warmly at them, "Mr. Smith, Ms. Roach, welcome to my grandfather's birthday party."

The driver behind Sharon and Seb handed over the gift, and the servant next to Ayla quickly took it and passed it to someone else to record.

From the moment Sharon appeared, Leo's eyes were fixed on her, an unabashed stare that held neither shame nor discretion, like he didn't care if Ayla or Seb noticed.

Seeing Leo's blatant stare, Seb showed a hint of annoyance on his face, and he stepped forward to block Sharon.

"Mr. Wendy, isn't it a bit much to keep staring at my girlfriend?"

Leo pulled his gaze away, a gentle smile on his lips, "Sorry, Mr. Smith, I didn't mean anything by it. It's just that your companion looks a lot like my sister who drowned five years ago, so I looked a bit longer. And if I remember right, you were after my sister five years ago, weren't you?"

Seb smiled but didn't clarify, instead turning to Ayla, "Ms. Bridges, we'll head inside."

Ayla kept her perfect smile, "Alright, if there's anything we've overlooked, I hope you'll forgive us, Mr. Smith."

After Seb and Sharon entered the Bridges Villa, Ayla frowned and looked at Leo, "Leo, how come I've never heard you mention you have a sister?"

Leo's expression was indifferent, "Stepsister."

Ayla frowned, about to ask more, but another guest arrived, so she put her curiosity aside to greet them, and with more guests arriving, she didn't get a chance to ask again.

Meanwhile, Sharon and Seb walked into the Bridges Villa garden.

By now, the garden was already packed with the elite and socialites of Metropolis. The Bridges family had only moved to Metropolis five years ago, but the Bridges Group had already gone public before that, so they knew a lot of people. Plus, the Bridges Group had been doing better and better over the years, with many folks eager to cozy up to them.

As soon as Sharon and Seb stepped into the garden, all eyes turned toward them. Due to the rarity of Seb bringing a date to such events, their apparent closeness stirred a palpable wave of curiosity among the guests.

"Who's that woman with Mr. Smith? She's gorgeous! But I don't think I've seen her before!"

"She looks familiar to me, like I've seen her somewhere. Oh, I remember! She looks just like Seb's niece-in-law who drowned five years ago!"

"What? I think I know some juicy gossip. An uncle and his niece-in-law, is it what I'm thinking?"

"But his niece-in-law drowned five years ago. This one must be a look-alike he found!"

People whispered among themselves but no one dared to approach Seb and Sharon directly. Instead, they stole glances at Sharon, their eyes filled with envy.

After all, Seb had almost no lovers around him for the past five years, and the only fiancée he had was a decision made on impulse, which was called off not long ago.

Noticing the stares around her, Sharon stayed calm and composed, letting them look.

Her poised and unpretentious demeanor actually made people feel good about her.

Seb led her forward to wish Garry a happy birthday, and as they turned around, they ran into Victor and Grace.

Seeing Victor now, Sharon was momentarily stunned.

She hadn't seen Victor for five years, and now he looked completely different from the confident and spirited man he used to be.

Victor's face was gloomy, without a trace of a smile. As he passed by them, Sharon felt a chill and couldn't help but shiver.

Victor and Grace didn't greet them, and Seb also looked indifferent, treating them as if they were invisible.

Sharon looked up at Seb, seeing his tense jaw and slightly darkened face, her fingers tightened around his arm.

"Seb, you and Victor..."

"Done." His tone was indifferent, with a hint of coldness.

After hesitating for a moment, she bit her lip and sighed, saying nothing more.

Soon, Sophie arrived with Dwayne.

Seeing Sharon, Sophie whispered a few words to Dwayne and then lifted her skirt to walk towards Sharon.

Sharon released Seb's arm, "Sophie is coming over. You go handle the business."

For a businessman like Seb, this birthday party wasn't just a celebration; it was also a prime opportunity to talk business.

But usually, people came to him to discuss deals, rather than him seeking them out.

Before Sophie arrived, several folks had already approached Seb to talk collaborations, but he had politely declined because Sharon was with him.

Seb raised an eyebrow, "You're gonna leave me for Sophie?"

Sharon gave him a playful glare, "I'm just trying not to hold you up from your business."

Seb chuckled, "Should I thank you for being so considerate?"

"No need."

She knew her place well.

Seb's smile deepened, "Alright, if you need anything, come find me anytime."

"Okay, got it."

As soon as Seb left, Sophie walked up to Sharon.

With just one glance, Sophie noticed the necklace around Sharon's neck.

"Sharon, your necklace is so beautiful. When did you change it?"

She remembered that before she left, Sharon was wearing a different one.

Sharon unconsciously touched the necklace, a wave of sweetness washing over her, her cheeks quietly flushed.

"Seb gave it to me. He said this necklace suited the dress better."

Sophie couldn't help but praise, "Indeed, Seb has great taste."

The necklace looked exquisite on Sharon's slender and graceful neck.

As they were talking, a commotion came from the entrance.

Sophie and Sharon turned their heads simultaneously to see Clarissa, looking charming, walking in with Randy.

Clarissa was wearing a pink puffy dress tonight, her makeup was on point, and Randy, in a white suit beside her, looked like the perfect match.

Sophie looked on expressionlessly and quickly averted her gaze.

Sharon looked at Sophie and couldn't help but advise again, "Sophie, I think you should reconsider the engagement."

Spending a lifetime with someone Sophie didn't love was truly a painful thing because every day felt like a repetition of the previous ones.

Sophie forced a smile, "Sharon, you don't need to persuade me. I know what I'm doing."

Seeing her stubborn expression, Sharon bit her lip. She wanted to tell her about Seb's plan to help the Lee Group but feared that if Seb changed his mind, it would leave Sophie disappointed.

Sharon sighed inwardly and decided to find an opportunity to ask Seb about it tonight.

"Sharon, I want to be alone for a while, so I won't accompany you," Sophie said.

"Alright, but don't go too far. The party is about to start."

Sophie nodded and quickly walked away, leaving Sharon adrift in a sea of unfamiliar faces and idle chatter.

Ever since marrying Alex, these social gatherings had become a rarity for her. The glittering crowd, with their practiced smiles and whispered intrigues, felt alien and unwelcoming. She decided to grab a glass of juice and find a quiet corner to stay for a while.

As she passed by the champagne tower, a servant named Briana suddenly rushed out and bumped into her. Briana was quite strong, and Sharon stumbled directly into the champagne tower.

The champagne tower shattered on the ground, with shards and champagne splattering everywhere, immediately drawing everyone's attention. Sharon's body was about to fall onto the broken pieces.

Sharon's face turned pale, her eyes filled with terror. She instinctively reached out to grab the tablecloth on the table but missed.

From a distance, Seb saw the scene, his face instantly turning grim, and he quickly ran towards Sharon.

However, he was too far away to make it in time.

Just when Sharon thought she was about to be disfigured, a slender hand grabbed her arm and pulled her up.

Once she steadied herself, Sharon's face was still pale, and she was clearly not recovered from the shock.

She took a deep breath and was about to thank her rescuer when she saw who it was, her eyes flickering.

The person who saved her was Leo!

She pursed her lips and took two steps back to create some distance, "Thank you, Mr. Wendy."

Seeing her distant and resistant actions, Leo's eyes narrowed slightly, and a smile appeared on his face.

"No need to thank me. It was my fault for not managing the household staff properly, which caused Ms. Roach to be bumped into. I should be the one apologizing to you."

As soon as he finished speaking, Seb arrived at Sharon's side.

Seeing that she was alright, just a bit pale, Seb let out a small sigh of relief.

He pulled her behind him and looked at Leo, "Thank you, Mr. Wendy."

Leo's smile remained gentle, "Mr. Smith, you're welcome."

Seb's gaze fell on Briana, who was standing nearby with a pale face, lowering her head. Briana immediately apologized. "Ms. Roach, I'm sorry. I didn't do it on purpose. You suddenly walked out from the side, and I didn't see you."

Seb's eyes turned cold, "So you're saying it's my girlfriend's fault?"

Briana's body trembled in fear, her face also pale, "Mr. Smith, that's not what I meant. It was my fault. Ms. Roach, I'm sorry."

Sharon frowned and was about to speak when Leo coldly said, "Briana, go to the butler and collect this month's salary. You don't need to come back tomorrow."
