Chapter 512 I Will No Longer Force You

"Alright, I'll keep paying you for the next three months."

Paul shook his head. "No need, Mr. Smith. I've been working for years without a proper break. I'll just treat this time as a vacation."

Besides, if Seb was planning to start over, he'd definitely be short on cash initially. Continuing to pay Paul would only add to the burden.

Seb, having been in the business world for so long, could easily see through Paul's intentions.

But he didn't call him out on it. "Alright."

"Mr. Smith, if there's nothing else, I'll head out. Call or message me if you need anything."

"Okay."

After Paul left, Seb opened his laptop and started working.

Upstairs in the bedroom, Sharon woke up from a nightmare, startled. It took her a few seconds to realize she was in her room. She got up and ran downstairs.

She burst into the study, relieved to see Seb working at his desk.

Her face was still pale from the fright.

Seb looked up and saw Sharon standing barefoot at the door. He frowned, got up, and walked over to her, lifting her into his arms.

"Why aren't you wearing shoes?"

Sharon bit her lip and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I had a nightmare."

"Dreamt something happened to me?"

"Yes."

Seb carried her upstairs, speaking softly. "Don't scare yourself. I won't leave you and Demetrius."

"But I'm still scared..."

Seb's grip tightened slightly, his voice deepening. "The company has weathered many storms over the years, even near bankruptcy several times. My mental resilience isn't that weak."

"Okay."

Seb laid Sharon back on the bed, went to the bathroom to wet a towel with warm water, and returned to the bedroom. He knelt in front of her.

Realizing what he was about to do, Sharon tried to pull her feet back. "I can do it myself."

Before she could finish, Seb grabbed her ankle.

His fingers were cool, sending a chill through her skin.

Sharon tried to pull her foot back but couldn't.

The next moment, she felt the warmth of the towel on her foot.

She looked down to see Seb diligently wiping her feet, and she bit her lip unconsciously.

After drying her feet, Seb put her shoes on and said sternly, "Next time, remember to wear shoes. The floor is cold."

"Okay."

"I heard from Dana that you didn't sleep at all last night. Try to get some rest."

He turned to leave, but Sharon tugged at his shirt. "I can't sleep alone. Can you stay with me?"

Seb turned back, meeting Sharon's pleading eyes, and his heart softened.

"Alright." He lifted the blanket and lay down beside her. "Sleep."

As soon as he settled in, Sharon wrapped her arms around his waist and nestled into his chest.

"You should rest too. Staying up like this isn't good for you."

"Okay."

Soon, the sound of steady breathing filled the room.

Seb gently moved her hand away and got out of bed.

After tucking her in, he quietly left the bedroom.

Downstairs, Dana emerged from the kitchen. "Mr. Smith, is Mrs. Smith up?"

Seb nodded. "Yeah. But she's asleep just now. Don't wake her."

"Got it."

The weekend flew by, and soon it was Monday.

After breakfast, Sharon took Demetrius to school while Seb headed to the office.

On the way, Demetrius looked at Sharon. "Mom, is Dad upset these past few days?"

Sharon glanced at Demetrius. They hadn't told him about Silvercrest Group's bankruptcy, fearing it would affect him. Besides, at his age, he might not fully understand.

But they had overlooked that Demetrius, at five years old, could sense adult emotions.

Over the weekend, Seb had spent most of his time in the study, barely interacting with Demetrius. The boy had definitely noticed something was off.

Sharon patted his head gently. "Yeah, your dad's been a bit down lately. He'll be fine soon. Don't worry."

Demetrius nodded, half understanding. "Okay."

Soon, they arrived at Demetrius's preschool.

After seeing him off, Sharon spoke to his teacher, Ms. Price. "I'll be picking Demetrius up half an hour early for a while. Please keep an eye on him and contact me if there's any issue."

"Of course. Don't worry, what happened last Friday won't happen again."

The children at this preschool all had prominent parents in Metropolis. If incidents like a child being taken by another parent happened often, it would make other parents worry about their children's safety.

If parents lost trust in the preschool, it would affect future enrollments.

"Good." Sharon turned to leave, but as she reached the curb, Leo's car pulled up in front of her.

"Sharon, we need to talk."

Sharon's face turned cold. "Leo, are you going to keep bothering me?"

She had told him countless times that she didn't like him and would never be with him.

But he seemed incapable of understanding, persistently bothering her.

Leo's expression changed, and his voice lowered. "Sharon, I came to ask you something about Demetrius."

Over the weekend, the tech team at Vertex Innovations Group had worked overtime, barely managing to fix the system by this morning.

While investigating the cause, they found it was an internal issue.

Leo didn't believe a five-year-old could sabotage a major company's system, but the timing coincided with Demetrius's presence. He had a hunch it was related to the boy.

Hearing Demetrius's name, Sharon glared at Leo. "I warn you, if you do anything to Demetrius, I'll fight you to the end!"

Remembering the incident where Demetrius was taken by Leo from preschool, Sharon was still shaken.

Leo pressed his lips together, speaking earnestly. "Sharon, I promise I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. But in return, give me a fair chance to pursue you."

"Never!" Sharon didn't hesitate to refuse and turned to leave.

Leo quickly stepped in front of her. "Sharon, let's set our issues aside. I need to ask, have you ever let Demetrius use a computer?"
