Chapter 412 Do you want to try dating me?
Looking into Demetrius's sparkling eyes, Sharon felt her heart warm up and nodded, "Okay."
"Thanks, Mom!" Demetrius was so happy he started dancing around, his face lit up with excitement.
Seb and Sharon played with Demetrius for a bit longer before Dana took him to get a bath and head to bed.
Sharon got up to leave, but Seb wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her back into his embrace.
"Sharon, now that Demetrius is finally asleep, shouldn't we enjoy some time just for us?" His voice was low and husky, with a hint of seduction.
Sharon pushed him away, frowning, "This is the living room. Someone could come by at any moment. Be careful."
Before she could finish speaking, Seb picked her up and headed to the study.
Sharon was startled by his sudden move and lightly pounded his chest, "What are you doing? You scared me!"
"Didn't you say the living room was inconvenient? Let's go to the study." Seb said with a smile.
Sharon fell silent.
An hour later, Sharon and Seb emerged from the study.
Sharon, walking ahead, had a flushed face and a hint of anger in her eyes, while Seb followed with a satisfied smile.
As they reached the top of the staircase, Sharon spun around, her eyes flashing with a sharp intensity. "Why are you still following me?"
Thinking about what had just happened in the study, she felt her face turning red with embarrassment. Seb's behavior was downright lewd.
Seb looked at her with a hint of grievance, "Sharon, we've been back together for a while now. When can I move in with you?"
"Not until we're married. Don't even think about stepping into my room." Sharon replied.
Seb raised an eyebrow, his eyes suddenly lighting up, "Are you hinting that I should propose?"
Sharon remained silent.
Seeing Sharon's speechless expression, Seb continued, "What kind of wedding do you like? Traditional or non-traditional?"
"Neither. It's late, I'm going to bed. Goodnight." Sharon said.
With that, she turned and quickly fled upstairs, her figure soon disappearing at the second-floor landing.
Seb didn't miss her ear tips, red as blood, and a look of joy flashed in his gentle eyes. Perhaps it was indeed time to consider proposing.
They hadn't been back together for long, but he was already eager to marry her.
As Seb walked towards the bedroom, thinking about how to propose, he received a call from Randy. "Seb, is Ms. Roach with you? I've called her several times, but she hasn't answered."
Hearing the urgency in Randy's voice, Seb frowned, "What do you need her for?"
"Sophie's in trouble." Randy replied.
By the time Sharon and Seb arrived at the hospital, it was nearly midnight.
Randy stood at the door of the hospital room, his face pale. When he saw Sharon, his previously dull eyes lit up, and he quickly walked over.
"Ms. Roach, Sophie's inside. She's very unstable and won't see anyone. I think she might be willing to see you." Randy's voice was hoarse and low, his face dark and frightening.
On the way, Sharon had already heard the general situation from Seb.
Sophie had gone to break off her engagement with Dwayne, but Dwayne had crazily drugged her and planned to record it to blackmail her.
If Sophie hadn't fought back desperately and injured Dwayne, he might have succeeded. The Carr family called the cops because Sophie had seriously injured Dwayne, who was now in the ER.
Hearing this, Sharon was livid. Dwayne had it coming.
Looking at the distraught Randy, Sharon said softly, "Okay, I get it."
"Ms. Roach, thank you," Randy said.
Sharon walked to the hospital room door and gently knocked, "Sophie, it's me. Can I come in?"
There was no sound from inside. Just as Sharon was about to ask again, a weak voice said, "Come in."
Sharon breathed a sigh of relief and pushed the door open.
All the lights in the room were on. Sophie sat on the bed, curled up tightly. The cold white light fell on her thin figure, making her look even more lonely.
Sharon's heart tightened, and she slowly walked over, sitting by the bed.
Sophie hugged her legs, staring blankly at a corner of the room, lost in thought.
Sharon reached out and gently patted Sophie's back, "Sophie, it's okay now. It's all over. No one can hurt you anymore."
The next second, Sophie suddenly reached out and hugged her, her body trembling.
Feeling the warm liquid dripping on her shoulder, Sharon softly comforted, "Don't be afraid. I will find a way to get justice for you."
Sophie didn't speak, just hugged Sharon tighter. The tears that streamed down her face told a story of how close she had come to being destroyed by that vile scumbag, Dwayne. Sharon remained a steady presence, gently patting her back. Only when Sophie calmed down did she let go and handed her a tissue to wipe her tears.
After venting, Sophie felt much better. She took the tissue and wiped her tears, gritting her teeth, "I won't let Dwayne get away with this!"
Sharon nodded, "Okay, I support you. But Dwayne is still in the emergency room. Even if you want revenge, you have to wait until he comes out."
Hearing this, Sophie was stunned, looking a bit at a loss, "He won't die, will he?"
It wasn't that she cared about Dwayne, but she was afraid of being charged with excessive self-defense if he died.
"Probably not. The Carr family found the most experienced doctors for his surgery," Sharon replied.
"That's good," Sophie said.
"Don't worry about him for now. The Carr family is slandering you, saying you attacked Dwayne out of anger after he rejected your advances, and they plan to sue you," Sharon said.
Sophie, who had just calmed down, almost lost control again.
She sneered, "The Carr family is truly shameless! But I was prepared when I went to see Dwayne. I had a recorder in my bag. My bag should be at the police station now, right?"
At that time, she had smashed a vase over Dwayne's head, causing him to bleed profusely. So she was covered in Dwayne's blood and looked extremely terrifying. The Carr family didn't dare approach her, fearing retaliation from the Lee family, so they called the police.
Sophie had held on until the police arrived before letting go of the vase and fainting.
"Not necessarily. Your bag might still be at the Carr Villa. But you can mention the recorder to the police when you give your statement," Sharon said.
Since Sophie had been too emotional to see anyone after waking up, she hadn't given her statement yet.
Sophie nodded, "Okay."
The idea that Sophie got angry and attacked Dwayne because he rejected her advances was something only the Carr family would believe.
Seeing that Sophie had calmed down, Sharon sighed in relief and asked, "Randy's been waiting outside. Do you want to see him?"
Sophie hesitated, fiddling with her hair unconsciously, and then said, "I don't want to see him right now. Tell him to go home."
"Alright." Sharon nodded.
As soon as Sharon stepped out of the room, Randy rushed up, "Ms. Roach, how is Sophie?"
Seeing the anxiety on Randy's face, Sharon replied calmly, "Sophie is stable now, but she still doesn't want to see anyone. You should go home and come back tomorrow."
Randy sighed in relief and nodded, "That's good. It's late now, so I'll stay here outside the room tonight."
"Okay, I'll head back then. Call me if anything comes up." Sharon said.
After saying that, Sharon went back into the room and told Sophie that Randy insisted on staying outside.
Sophie bit her lip and frowned, "Is he stupid? It's so cold out there; he'll catch a cold if he stays in the hallway all night!"
Sharon couldn't help but smile, "If you're really worried about him, let him come into the room. There's a sofa he can sleep on."
From Sophie's concerned expression, Sharon could tell that Sophie had feelings for Randy.
Sophie retorted, "Who's worried about him? I just don't want anyone getting sick because of me."
Sharon held her hand and looked into her eyes, "Sophie, I missed out on five years with Seb because I was too stubborn to admit my feelings. I don't want you to miss out on someone you care about for the same reason. Age difference doesn't matter; what's important is whether you like Randy."
Sophie was taken aback, as if she wanted to say something but ultimately lowered her head. "I understand, Sharon. Thank you."
"Seb and I will head back now. We'll see you tomorrow. Let me know if you need anything, and I'll bring it in the morning." Sharon said.
Sophie shook her head, "You're busy with work. You don't need to come. I'll be discharged in a couple of days."
"Alright, but call me if you need anything," Sharon said.
"I will," Sophie said.
After leaving the room, Sharon and Seb said goodbye to Randy and left the hospital.
The hallway quieted down, and Randy sat on a chair in the hallway, leaning against the wall to rest.
Inside the room, Sophie stared blankly at the blanket, her mind swirling with Sharon's recent words.
Sophie did have feelings for Randy, but she had always suppressed them, fearing there would be no future for them.
But now, even if there was no future, Sophie wanted to give it a try.
Sophie was a person of action. Once she made up her mind, she got out of bed and walked to the door.
Through the window, she saw Randy sitting on a chair diagonally across from the room, leaning against the wall as if he were asleep. She felt a bit nervous and took a few deep breaths before opening the door.
Almost as soon as she opened the door, Randy's eyes snapped open. His gaze was clear, not at all like someone who had just woken up.
Meeting his calm eyes, Sophie felt her throat dry, and she cleared her throat, "It's cold outside. Come in."
Randy looked at her without moving, his emotions swirling in his eyes before they quickly settled.
"Okay." He got up and walked towards Sophie.
As the distance between them closed, Sophie's heart started pounding. Just as Randy reached her, she turned and walked back into the room, avoiding his gaze.
Randy's eyes darkened as he walked into the room, closed the door, and sat on the sofa.
Sophie tucked herself back into bed and, when she looked up, saw Randy staring at her. She couldn't help but bite her lip.
"There aren't any extra blankets. You'll have to make do. If you're really tired, you should go home. I can manage on my own," Sophie said.
After Sharon's comforting words, she wasn't as scared anymore.
"It's fine. You sleep first. I'll stay here," Randy said.
Sophie met his gaze for a couple of seconds before looking away in a fluster, "Okay, I'll sleep then."
"Alright," Randy said.
Sophie pulled the blanket over her head but couldn't fall asleep.
The room was quiet, but just knowing Randy was sitting on the sofa made her feel a mix of emotions, and her heart beat faster.
She clutched the edge of the blanket tightly, her palms starting to sweat.
"Can't you fall asleep?" Randy's clear voice came from the sofa, and Sophie paused before throwing off the blanket and looking at him, "How did you know I wasn't asleep?"
The room was warm with the air conditioning on, and Sophie had been under the blanket, so her forehead was damp with sweat.
Because of the heat, her previously pale cheeks now had a faint pink hue.
Randy averted his gaze subtly and said softly, "The blanket kept moving."
Sophie fell silent.
Awkwardly laughing, Sophie said, "I can't sleep, but it's not because of you. It's just that I'm not used to sleeping at this time, so I'm wide awake."
"Okay, I understand," Randy said.
Meeting his smiling eyes, Sophie felt like he could see right through her.
She intended to follow Sharon's advice and face her feelings bravely, but she hadn't expected to face this situation right now!
Previously, when they were alone, Sophie never thought about anything more and treated him as a friend, so she felt at ease.
But now, even looking him in the eye made her nervous. This wasn't like her at all.
Thinking of this, she looked up at Randy and mustered the courage to say, "Randy, do you want to try dating me?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the room fell into silence.
Randy's eyes suddenly deepened, like a clear sky turning into an unfathomable ocean, as if he wanted to swallow her whole.
Seeing him remain silent, Sophie seemed to realize something and looked away, "If you don't want to, forget it. But I want you to know that nothing happened between me and Dwayne. He didn't succeed."
Looking at Sophie's stubborn profile and tightly pressed lips, Randy sighed and walked over to her.
Randy said, "Sophie, I don't despise you. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here today. I'm just worried that you're acting on impulse. Your emotions haven't fully settled, and I don't want you to make a decision you'll regret."
Seeing Sophie remain silent, he knelt down to look her in the eye, his voice gentle, "Sophie, let's talk about this after you're discharged and have thought it through."
Before he could finish, Sophie reached out, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
