Chapter 84 Do You Want to Get Sharon?
Paul looked puzzled. "Mr. Smith, why investigate this employee?"
"I hired you to do your job, not ask questions."
Facing Seb's cold gaze, Paul quickly lowered his head. "I'll get on it right away."
Soon, he handed Seb the printed information on Tom.
After reading it, Seb said indifferently, "Find an opportunity to send him on a business trip soon. I don't want to see him in the company for the next six months."
Paul found it odd but didn't dare to ask further. He nodded. "Okay, I'll take care of it."
Meanwhile, after leaving the cafeteria, Tom looked irritably at the flowers in his hand, feeling it would be a waste to throw them away.
After thinking for a moment, he messaged his recent romantic interest on Facebook, asking her out for dinner.
After dinner, he could naturally invite her over to his place, and the rest would follow.
Thinking this, Tom's mood improved.
Just as he was about to head back, he received a friend request on Facebook.
Seeing a pretty woman's profile picture, he thought it was someone who had found him through a dating app and quickly accepted the request.
Before he could say anything, he received a message.
Unknown: [Do you want to get Sharon? Room 8 at The Tipsy Tavern, 8 P.M. tonight.]
He frowned and was about to reply when the message was deleted.
He sent several messages asking what it meant, but there was no response.
If it weren't for the deleted message notice in the chat, He might've thought he imagined it.
He had just confessed to Sharon, and now someone added him and sent such a message, indicating that person was also in the cafeteria earlier. But there were too many people at the time, so Tom couldn't be sure who it was.
After hesitating a while, he suspected it might be a prank and blocked the person. He also decided not to go to the Tipsy Tavern.
In the evening, Rebecca waited at the Tipsy Tavern for over an hour, but Tom didn't show up. Losing patience, she had someone bring him over by force.
Seeing Rebecca, Tom realized she was the one who contacted him.
"Ms. Walker, what do you want from me?" He looked at Rebecca warily.
In his view, Rebecca had no connection with Sharon, and he didn't know her. Why would she help him?
Rebecca smirked, "Didn't I already say on Facebook? I can help you get Sharon."
Tom sneered, "Why should I believe you?"
"You have no other choice but to do as I say," as she said that, Rebecca threw a file in front of Tom, smiling. "If you don't listen to me, you might not be able to handle the consequences."
Tom picked up the file and turned pale upon seeing its contents.
After a long while, he looked at Rebecca, trembling. "Did Sharon offend you?"
Rebecca smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "It's best not to ask questions you shouldn't. Knowing too much might lead to ruin. Just know that I'll help you get her."
"What do I need to do?"
"Just follow my instructions and don't ask anything else."
Tom lowered his gaze, filled with anger at being threatened. However, he knew opposing Rebecca was futile. It was better to follow her and get Sharon, avenging the humiliation he faced earlier.
Taking a deep breath, he said slowly, "Okay, I'll do as you say."
Due to some issues in the afternoon experiment, Sharon was busy in the lab until after ten.
After packing up, she received a call from Alex while waiting for the elevator.
When she answered, his slightly cold voice came through. "Why are you still not home?"
"I'm done now, heading back soon," as Sharon spoke, the elevator doors opened.
She was about to step in when she saw Seb inside, making her pause.
Their eyes met; Seb's gaze was cold, exuding an icy aura.
She hesitated, unsure whether to enter.
Given his attitude toward her in the cafeteria earlier, he likely didn't want to see her.
Alex's voice came from the phone, asking if he should pick her up. She snapped out of it and replied, "No, I drove. Just wait for me at home."
Then, she hung up.
She could feel Seb's sharp gaze, making her palms sweat.
"Aren't you coming in?" his icy voice came from the elevator.
Sharon shook her head. "No, I just remembered I forgot something. You go ahead, Mr. Smith."
He said nothing more and released the door open button.
The elevator doors closed slowly in front of Sharon and continued downward.
She stared at the down button for a few seconds before pressing it again.
When she got home, it was nearly midnight. She walked into the living room and saw Alex waiting on the sofa. Frowning, she said, "I might have to work late often. You don't need to wait for me."
Hearing this, his face darkened. "Is this job that demanding?"
Sharon glanced at him, knowing he was really asking if her overtime involved Seb.
She said, "Don't worry, your uncle dislikes me now. My experiment is with another high-ranking official from Silvercrest Group, so I won't interact with him."
Alex showed no embarrassment at being seen through.
He said, "I don't want you two interacting for your sake."
Not wanting to argue, Sharon nodded. "I know, thank you for caring."
He frowned, sensing she didn't take his words seriously. But remembering how she threw away Seb's gift in front of him yesterday, Alex figured Seb's pride wouldn't let him bother her again.
He added, "Sharon, let's not talk about this. Grandma sent these supplements today; she still cares about you."
Seeing the supplements on the table, Sharon's eyes flashed with sarcasm.
She knew well enough how people treated her. "Okay, thank her for me."
Then, she turned to go upstairs.
As she reached the stairs, she heard footsteps behind her.
The next second, her wrist was grabbed.
"Sharon, what's with that reaction? Are you still mad at Grandma?" he asked.
