Chapter 51 Don't Take Me for a Fool
Seb sat by the hospital bed, looking at her with a calm expression.
The last bit of memory before she passed out flooded her mind. Sharon bit her lower lip and lowered her gaze. "Mr. Smith, thank you for saving me."
If he hadn't arrived in time, who knew what would have happened last night.
Seb said, "My bad, I'm sorry."
Meeting his serious gaze, Sharon felt her heart skip a beat and instinctively looked away.
She said, "It wasn't your fault. No one could have expected them to do something like this."
Moreover, Sunny intended not just to humiliate her, but also to film it. Probably because she refused Sunny's bribe, and they planned to use the footage as leverage.
Thinking of this, Sharon felt her eyes turned cold.
Seeing her lowered gaze and pale face, Seb's eyes darkened. "Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere else?"
Sharon shook her head and hesitated before speaking, "What about Sunny..."
"Don't worry, she has received the punishment she deserves. The Silvercrest Group will also no longer be associated with BioGenX Pharmaceuticals."
Hearing this, Sharon pressed her lips together. "Alright, thank you, Mr. Smith."
"Get some rest. The doctor will come by later to check on you, and if everything is fine, you can be discharged."
"Okay."
Sharon wasn't really sleepy, but Seb's presence was too overwhelming to ignore.
Moreover, she didn't have much to say to him. The two of them couldn't just sit there staring at each other, so Sharon closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
Unexpectedly, as she lay there, she actually fell asleep.
When she woke up again, it was already 2:00 p.m., and she felt much better.
Seb, who wasscanning documents on the sofa, looked up at the sound of her waking and said softly, "There's food on the table."
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Smith." Sharon was indeed feeling a bit hungry. After freshening up in the bathroom, she returned to eat the food.
It was her favorite.
After a few bites, she belatedly looked at Seb. "Mr. Smith, have you had lunch?"
"Yes, the doctor said all your vitals are normal. Once you finish eating and change your clothes, we can head to the airport and return to Metropolis."
"Okay."
Sharon continued eating, and during that time, Paul came in with a stack of reports. "Mr. Smith, Ms. Wright's discharge papers are ready."
Seb nodded. "Leave them there."
Sharon put down her spoon and looked at Paul. "Mr. Harris, can I see the hospital bill? I want to know how much it costs."
Before Paul could move, Seb looked up at her and said, "You don't need to worry about it . This counts as a work injury, so you don't have to pay."
Sharon nodded.
Facing Seb's unyielding gaze, she didn't argue further and continued eating.
Half an hour later, they left for the airport.
On the way, Sharon learned from Paul about Sunny and Benjamin's fate.
Sunny and the man she hired were arrested for criminal activities, and Benjamin was fired from BioGenX Pharmaceuticals. With charges of embezzlement and inciting crime, he was likely facing prison time.
Paul didn't tell Sharon what happened in that room later that night, fearing it would scare her.
Sharon was satisfied with this outcome and felt no sympathy for Sunny and the others. They deserved their fate.
They arrived back in Metropolis at around 11:00 p.m..
After a shower, Sharon went straight to bed.
The next two days were the weekend, so she didn't have to work. Sharon slept in the next morning, then went to the supermarket to buy some groceries.
While picking out groceries, she suddenly heard a sweet, sticky female voice not far away. "Mr. Smith, I'm buying groceries. What do you want for dinner?"
Sharon glanced up unintentionally and, seeing the woman's face, her expression darkened.
It was Ava.
Upon seeing her sweet smile and bashful demeanor, Sharon's eyes flashed with disgust.
It seemed that the 'Mr. Smith' Ava was referring to was Alex.
Thinking about Ava and Alex doing such disgusting things even in the hospital, Sharon felt nauseous.
She quickly turned away, pushing her cart to leave.
Ava didn't notice Sharon and continued her phone conversation with Alex, but Alex's tone was cold. "I'm not coming over tonight. You eat by yourself."
Without giving Ava a chance to respond, Alex hung up.
He put down his phone and opened Facebook, seeing that Sharon hadn't replied to his message from a few days ago. His eyes flashed with irritation.
As he was feeling frustrated, Joseph knocked and walked in. "Mr. Smith, someone from Maple Valley called. They said nothing unusual happened, except two nights ago, Mrs. Smith was almost assaulted by people from BioGenX Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Seb saved her."
"What!" Alex's face turned extremely grim, and he shouted, "Why am I only hearing about this now?"
"They saw Mr. Seb carrying Mrs. Smith out and didn't dare report it. They just confirmed it and called me."
Upon thinking about that scene, Alex's eyes grew even darker.
Sensing the cold aura around him, Joseph shivered and lowered his head, not daring to speak further.
Alex said, "Got it. You can leave now."
Joseph turned to leave, but just as he reached the door, Alex's cold voice rang out again. "Also, don't let any of those people off the hook."
Joseph turned back. "Mr. Smith, Mr. Seb has already dealt with them, and they're all in custody now."
Alex said, "Then make sure they stay in there forever."
Seeing the murderous intent in his eyes, Joseph felt a surge of fear and quickly nodded. "Understood."
After Joseph left, Alex took out his phone and called Sharon, but the line was busy.
He put down his phone, thought for a moment, then got up and left.
Sharon had just bought her groceries and was stepping out of the elevator when she saw Alex standing by her door. Her expression instantly turned cold.
Alex asked,"Sharon, did you go shopping?"
Sharon ignored him.
As she was about to unlock the door, Alex blocked her way. "Sharon, are you still mad about me not letting you go on that business trip?"
Sharon lowered her eyes, filled with disgust and impatience. "No."
Alex sighed helplessly and said slowly, "You're acting like this because you're mad. You always ignore me when you're angry."
He reached out to take the bags from her, but Sharon stepped back and avoided him.
She took a step back, looking at him with a mocking expression. "Alex, do you think I went on that business trip to Maple Valley and didn't catch wind of the gross stuff you pulled with Ava?"
Alex's face changed, and he looked a bit guilty. "Sharon, who has been filling your head with nonsense?"
Sharon tightened her grip on the bags, realizing she had almost exposed her surveillance on him.
She sneered, "Nonsense? I heard Ava calling you from the supermarket today, asking what you wanted for dinner. If you had really cut ties with her, she wouldn't be able to contact you. Don't take me for a fool!"
