Chapter 404 I Need a Wife

The light in the study was still on, and Seb was wide awake.

When he saw Sharon, surprise flickered in his eyes. "What are you doing here? How's Sophie?"

"She's already asleep."

Seb noticed Sharon seemed like she had something to say but was holding back. He raised an eyebrow.

"Seb, thanks for tonight."

"Why so formal? I'm your boyfriend; it's what I'm supposed to do."

Sharon hesitated for a moment, then finally looked up to meet his gaze.

"It's not just about tonight. Since we met, you've always been good to me. I owe you an apology and a thank you."

Seeing the seriousness in her eyes, Seb pursed his lips and walked towards her.

As he got closer, Sharon instinctively stepped back. "Why did you suddenly get up?"

A smile tugged at Seb's lips. "Didn't you want to thank me?"

"Yes, but you..."

Before Sharon could finish, Seb grabbed her waist and lifted her, heading towards the sofa.

The sensation of being lifted made Sharon uneasy, and she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck. "Seb, what are you doing? Put me down."

Ignoring her, Seb carried her to the sofa and sat her down. "You said you owe me a thank you. How do you plan to thank me?"

Meeting his deep eyes, Sharon was momentarily stunned. "How do you want me to thank you?"

A smile played on Seb's lips. "Sharon, who asks someone how to thank them? Haven't you thought about how to thank me?"

His tone was calm, but Sharon felt a sense of accusation, making her feel a bit guilty.

She really hadn't thought about how to thank Seb. What she could give, Seb already had, and what he didn't have, she couldn't afford to give.

But as he pointed out, just a verbal thank you seemed insincere.

Seeing Sharon's changing expressions, sometimes frowning, sometimes pursing her lips, Seb smiled brightly.

"If you can't think of anything, how about I give you a suggestion?"

Sharon looked up at him, unaware that she had already fallen into his trap. "What suggestion?"

"I'm missing a wife."

After a few seconds, she deliberately said, "Do you want me to introduce someone to you?"

"Isn't there someone right in front of me? Do I need an introduction?"

Noticing his hand tightening around her waist, Sharon quickly pushed him away and jumped off his lap.

"Why don't you give me another suggestion? I'm not planning on getting married right now."

"But I don't lack anything else."

Sharon smiled and said, "Well, when you suddenly find you're missing something, let me know. It's getting late; I'm going to bed. You should rest early too. Good night."

After speaking, Sharon quickly turned and left, as if she was afraid Seb would say something else.

Watching her retreating figure, Seb smiled widely with his eyes full of affection.

It wasn't until she returned to her bedroom that Sharon's emotions finally calmed down.

When Seb mentioned needing a wife, she had a moment of heartache.

They had missed so many years, and when she decided to give him another chance, she had the intention of marrying him.

But they had only recently gotten back together, and marriage seemed too soon for her.

So, she ran away.

After some time, when their relationship stabilized, she would seriously consider marriage.

That night, Sharon couldn't sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, she imagined marrying Seb, making it impossible to rest.

It wasn't until almost dawn that she finally dozed off. When she woke up in the morning, she had dark circles under her eyes.

During breakfast, Seb raised an eyebrow at her. "Didn't sleep well last night?"

Sharon shot a resentful look at Seb, the cause of her insomnia. "Nope."

"Was it because I mentioned needing a wife last night?"

Seeing him so pleased with himself, Sharon instinctively denied it. "Of course not. I was worried about Sophie, so I couldn't sleep. It had nothing to do with what you said!"

"Sharon, how come I never noticed you like to say one thing and mean another?"

Sharon gritted her teeth. "I never noticed you talk so much. It's early in the morning, and breakfast can't even shut you up."

Seb's smile widened as he elegantly ate his breakfast.

But his calm demeanor only made Sharon more frustrated, and she angrily ate her breakfast.

As a result, she overate.

On the way to the company, Sharon held her overly full stomach, her face pale.

Having eaten too much in the morning, she now felt nauseous sitting in the car.

Seb, after finishing a document, turned to see Sharon looking unwell, clutching her stomach. He frowned. "What's wrong? Is your stomach upset?"

Sharon glanced at him but didn't answer. It was because of him.

Seeing Sharon remain silent, just looking at him with those deep eyes, Seb thought she was in serious discomfort. He turned to the driver, Aubrey. "Aubrey, head to the hospital."

As soon as he spoke, Sharon's expression changed, and she quickly stopped Aubrey from turning the car around. "Aubrey, I'm fine. I just ate a bit too much this morning. I'll be okay after some rest."

"Are you sure?" Seb grabbed her hand, feeling its coldness, and his frown deepened.

"Yes, just let me rest quietly for a while."

Sharon tried to pull her hand from his grip but failed. Given her stomach discomfort, she let him hold her hand and leaned back, closing her eyes to rest.

Fortunately, it wasn't long before the car stopped in front of the company building.

Sharon opened her eyes and met Seb's worried gaze, feeling warm in her heart that dispelled much of her frustration. "I'm really fine, don't worry."

Seeing her pale face but otherwise in good spirits, Seb finally relaxed. "Alright, if you really can't handle it, just take the day off and rest. That big pharmaceutical project won't fall apart without you."

Though he was speaking the truth, Sharon felt a bit sad. "Okay, I know."

They parted ways in the elevator. Upon reaching his top-floor office, Seb had just sat down when Paul knocked and entered.

"Mr. Smith, Mr. Edwards wants to see you."

Seb's eyes darkened, and he coldly replied, "I have nothing to say to him. I won't see him."

If it weren't for Victor secretly helping Grace, he and Sharon wouldn't have missed out on five years, and Sharon wouldn't have suffered so much.

Not continuing to go after the Edwards Group was already his greatest mercy.

Paul hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Mr. Smith, Mr. Edwards said he has some information about Grace that concerns Ms. Roach."
