"It's not too early, it's just the right time."
"Alright."
Sharon sat down next to Sophie. "Then I'll thank you on behalf of the baby for being the godmother."
Sophie reached out and gently touched Sharon's still flat belly, speaking softly, "Baby, when you're born, I'll give you a big gift."
"What kind of gift?"
Sophie glanced at Sharon, her tone mysterious, "You'll find out when the time comes."
As they were chatting, Seb returned.
Seeing Sophie, he was a bit surprised.
"Ms. Lee."
"Good afternoon, Mr. Smith."
Sharon looked at Seb, "Why are you back so early?"
"I came back to grab a document and check on you."
Sophie couldn't help but interject, "Don't flaunt your relationship so openly!"
Sharon chuckled, "Aren't you getting along quite well with a certain man lately?"
Mentioning Saul, Sophie sighed, "I don't know what will happen next."
She felt pity for Saul but didn't have romantic feelings for him.
Initially, Sophie was attracted to Saul's looks, but as they spent time together, she realized she only appreciated his appearance and wasn't interested in him.
Or perhaps, she wasn't interested in any man other than Randy.
Seeing Sophie looking a bit down, Sharon said to Seb, "Go get your document."
"Alright."
After Seb left, Sharon asked Sophie if something had happened.
Sophie lowered her gaze and took a while before speaking, "Someone online said Randy is ungrateful. Electra got hurt saving him, but since she was hospitalized, he hasn't visited her even once. Many people are criticizing him. By the way, Electra is the friend he's ambiguously involved with."
"Even though we've broken up, I still get emotionally affected by his matters. It's annoying. Will I ever get over this?"
Seeing her confused expression, Sharon frowned, "You liked Daniel just as much as you like Randy now, but after Daniel cheated, you still got over it. Over time, any feelings will fade."
"It's normal to still have feelings for him. After all, people aren't machines; you can't just stop liking someone instantly. The most important thing now is to figure out if you want to break up with him completely or get back together."
Sophie irritably ran her fingers through her hair, "I don't know. Let's see if he can keep his promise of not seeing Electra for a month."
"Alright."
After chatting for a while longer, Sophie got up and left.
After seeing Sophie off, Sharon turned and walked to the study, knocked on the door, and went in.
Seb was looking at documents. Hearing the door open, he looked up and saw Sharon. He smiled and put down the document.
"Sophie left?"
"Yeah. Do you have something to tell me?"
If Seb had just come back for a document, he wouldn't stay in the study for so long.
Seb nodded, "Alton contacted me earlier. Jeremy passed away."
Sharon pursed her lips, "This has nothing to do with us. Why did he tell you?"
"There's a rumor that Gareth is responsible for Jeremy's death."
Sharon frowned, "Didn't Gareth lose a leg in a car accident? How could he have killed Jeremy?"
Seb nodded, "Yes, he's taking the fall for Carolyn. The real person responsible for Jeremy's death is Carolyn."
Sharon wasn't surprised. Carolyn would do anything to gain control of the Stoll family.
"The Stoll family must be in chaos now."
"Yes, Alton said Carolyn is likely planning to sacrifice Gareth to save herself. Jeremy's lover and son are also fighting for the Stoll family. They have Jeremy's will, and many within the Stoll family support them."
For the next few years, Carolyn would be busy with internal conflicts and wouldn't have the time or energy to bother them.
Sharon lowered her gaze, "No matter what, Stellaria's matters have nothing to do with us anymore. I just hope our family can be together."
"Alright."
In the following days, Randy was busy trying to suppress the online posts accusing him of being ungrateful, often working late into the night.
Delbert, seeing Randy unwilling to visit Electra even at the cost of the company's image, went directly to the Smith Group to confront him.
"Randy, you've really lost your mind over Sophie. You must visit Electra at the hospital today!"
Randy looked at him coldly, "I said I wouldn't go, and I'm very busy right now. Please leave."
Delbert's face fell. He snatched the document from Randy's hand and angrily asked, "Randy, do you really want to break ties with us over a woman?"
"She's not just any woman; she's my girlfriend, the one I love."
"What about our years of friendship? What does that mean to you?"
Randy looked directly at Delbert, "I value our friendship, but if you force me to choose, my choice will disappoint you."
Delbert sneered, "We're not forcing you to choose; you chose Sophie yourself!"
"Yes, I chose her. Didn't you also choose Electra over me?"
The office fell silent, neither of them speaking.
After a long pause, Delbert finally said, "You don't have to like Electra, and I'm not forcing you to respond to her feelings. But she saved you. Just visiting her at the hospital isn't too much to ask, is it?"
"I promised Sophie I wouldn't see Electra for a month."
Delbert's face turned livid, "Just because of that?"
"Yes."
"Randy, you're hopeless!"
With that, Delbert turned and left, slamming the office door loudly.
Half an hour later, Delbert walked into Electra's hospital room, his face still grim.
Seeing his expression, Electra quickly asked, "Delbert, why do you look so upset?"
Delbert sat by the bed, "Electra, you don't need to wait anymore. Randy won't come."
Electra's expression froze, and after a long time, she forced a smile, "What happened?"
"I just went to his office. He said he promised Sophie he wouldn't see you for a month."
Electra pursed her lips and gave a bitter smile.
"I understand. I didn't expect him to come anyway."
Seeing Electra on the verge of tears, Delbert softly comforted her, "Don't be too sad. Even without him, you still have me... and Valentin and Geraldo."
"I know."
But in her heart, none of them were Randy.
Meanwhile, in the Smith Group's CEO office.
Not long after Delbert left, several shareholders came to see Randy.
"Mr. Smith, the Loomis Group is spreading rumors about you being ungrateful. It's been several days, and you haven't suppressed it. It's seriously affecting the company's image. What are you planning to do next?"
"Yeah, it's been days. If you really can't suppress this, maybe you should publicly apologize or resign as CEO of the Smith Group!"
"Several partners have already asked what's going on. If this continues, we might lose some partnerships."
They spoke one after another, not giving Randy a chance to speak.
After they finished, Randy finally said, "Are you done?"
"Mr. Smith, what kind of attitude is this? This incident is clearly caused by your personal matters, and you're acting like it's none of your business!"
Facing the shareholders' angry eyes, Randy put down the document.
"You've said so much, but the core idea is that you want me to resign, right? I can resign, but who do you plan to put in my position?"
Their expressions changed, and after a while, the leading shareholder spoke, "Several shareholders are very capable. We can choose one to temporarily take over as CEO until you resolve your personal matters and return to your position."
Randy smiled, "Finnegan, you've made it clear. It seems you already have someone in mind. Don't tell me the person temporarily taking my place is you."
Finnegan frowned, "Mr. Smith, we can make a public decision, and I don't necessarily want to replace you."
Randy nodded, "Alright, let's hold a shareholders' meeting. I also have someone in mind to temporarily take my place."
Since taking over the Smith Group, Finnegan had been stirring up conflicts between Randy and other shareholders. Even if Randy left the Smith Group, he wouldn't let Finnegan take his place.
Finnegan squinted and smiled, "Alright."
In less than an hour, all the Smith Group shareholders gathered in the large conference room.
Randy sat at the head of the table and addressed everyone, "First, I apologize to everyone. Due to my personal matters, the Smith Group's image has been affected. Today, I called this meeting to announce something."
His gaze swept over the shareholders' varied expressions, and he spoke seriously, "To avoid further impact on the company due to my personal matters, I have decided to temporarily resign as CEO of the Smith Group. The purpose of today's meeting is to select someone to temporarily manage the Smith Group."
As soon as he finished speaking, the conference room erupted in discussion.
"Mr. Smith, there's no need to resign over such a small matter."
