Chapter 266 I Can Help You Make Connections

Staring into his chill eyes, Rebecca felt kinda out of it.

She'd seen how Seb looked at Sharon before, all soft and sweet, nothing like the calm vibe he had now. His eyes were always gentle when it came to Sharon.

But even though they'd been engaged for three years, Seb never gave Rebecca that same gentle look.

Whenever he looked at Rebecca, it was always with this calm, indifferent, and distant attitude.

Sometimes Rebecca wondered if he just thought she was a good enough fiancée, so he went along with the engagement.

Pushing away the messy thoughts in her head, she mumbled, "It's nothing, he's probably just wiped from the flight."

Sitting down next to Seb, Rebecca bit her lip and finally got the guts to say, "Seb, why don't we tie the knot this year? Now that you've taken over the Smith Group and there's no big drama, I wanna get married."

Seb didn't answer but instead asked coldly, "Why the sudden rush to get hitched?"

He got engaged to Rebecca just to stop Sandra and Tyler from setting him up with random dates, but he never thought about marriage.

He wasn't into women at all.

Maybe it was time to find a new fiancée.

Hearing that, Rebecca was stunned for a sec and then spoke in disbelief, "It's been three years since we got engaged. Isn't marriage the next step? Have you never thought about marrying me?"

By the end, her voice was shaking.

Seb put down his cup and looked at her with no expression, "No, I don't plan to get married. If you wanna get married, I think we should call it quits. I can compensate you; name your price."

"Enough!"

Rebecca cut him off angrily, her eyes red and her voice choked, "If you didn't plan to get married, why did you agree to the engagement in the first place? And don't you get how I feel about you after all these years?"

Ignoring her outburst, Seb said, "Sorry, what do you want as compensation?"

"I don't want compensation; I want you to marry me!"

Seb's gaze turned icy. He stood up and looked down at Rebecca, "You can ask for anything except marriage."

With that, Seb turned and walked out.

Just as he reached the door, Rebecca's sharp voice rang out, "Seb, I won't agree to break off the engagement. If you don't wanna get married, then we'll keep dating until you do!"

She'd been with Seb for three years; she wasn't gonna give up that easily, especially now that she knew Sharon wasn't dead!

She wasn't gonna let Sharon take Seb away!

Seb paused for a moment, then left without looking back.

After getting in the car, Rufus couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Smith, are you really not planning to marry Ms. Walker?"

To Rufus, Rebecca was perfect for Seb—great family, awesome personality, and good looks.

He didn't get why Seb had no plans to marry Rebecca after being engaged for three years.

Now that Rebecca had brought up marriage, Seb was even thinking about breaking off the engagement.

The weirdest part was that in all these years, besides Rebecca, there hadn't been any other women around Seb, not even female secretaries.

He was starting to wonder if Seb might be into guys.

Seb shot him a cold look, "If you like her, I can help you go after Rebecca."

Rufus was startled and quickly shook his head. "Mr. Smith, my bad."

"To the hotel."

Seb said coldly, turning his head to look out the window, his face blank.

Before getting engaged to Rebecca, Seb had figured out that he had zero sexual desire for any woman. Even if they were standing naked right in front of him, it did nothing for him.

He went to see a doctor, who said it might be a leftover issue from the car accident and suggested he try watching some adult videos, but that didn't work either.

It wasn't just physical; he had no mental reaction either.

So, Seb eventually accepted it and decided marriage wasn't in the cards for him.

He thought he'd never be into women, but the day Sharon bumped into him in the elevator, he felt this sudden electric jolt through his body.

He thought it was a fluke, but later at the celebration party, when he saw Sharon again, Seb felt something weird.

He couldn't put his finger on it, but he instinctively fought it.

Still, while resisting, his eyes kept drifting back to her.

Seb frowned, trying to push away the chaotic thoughts, and rubbed his temples.

He figured he was just too tired lately; otherwise, why would he feel this weird sense of déjà vu when seeing Sharon?

After Seb left, Rebecca called her mom, Alisha Walker, "Mom, I saw Sharon tonight."

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end before Alisha's voice came through, "What nonsense are you talking about? Sharon died five years ago. How could she come back to life?"

"Seriously, I even talked to her. Have Dad check if she really didn't die!"

Hearing Rebecca's panicked tone, Alisha said sternly, "Alright, I'll have your dad check right now."

In recent years, the Walker Group had been thriving because Seb was Rebecca's fiancé, and their business had grown much larger than five years ago.

If Sharon was really alive and she took Seb back, the Walker Group might lose its strong support from Seb.

After hanging up, Alisha hurried to Lowell Walker's study.

On the other side, Sharon, Demetrius, and Zachary had just finished eating and stepped out of the restaurant when Sharon got a call from Donna.

"Sharon, there's an issue with some data in the experiment I'm leading. I'm on my way home and can't make it back. Can you go check it out?"

"Okay, I'll head over right now."

After hearing about the situation, Zachary immediately offered to drive Sharon to the lab.

On the way, Zachary suggested, "I live closer to your lab, and it's getting late. I'll take Demetrius to my place to sleep. Call me when you're done with the data, and I'll come pick you up."

Sharon glanced at the drowsy Demetrius in the back seat and nodded, "Alright."

The car stopped in front of the lab building, and as Sharon unbuckled her seatbelt, she said, "Zachary, sorry for the trouble."

Zachary looked at her gently, "No worries. Just call me when you're done."

It wasn't until Sharon's figure disappeared into the lab building that Zachary started the car and left.

As soon as Sharon stepped into the lab, Jake Dickson hurried over, "Sharon, you're here."

"Which group has the problematic data?"

"Group twenty-five."

Sharon took the experimental data and records he handed over, her eyes quickly scanning the pages.

Ten minutes later, she frowned and said, "The records look fine. This group needs to redo the experiment."

Hearing that, Jake's expression suddenly changed, saying helplessly, "The data is due tomorrow morning. Looks like we won't be getting any sleep tonight."

Sharon patted his shoulder encouragingly, "Don't worry, I'll talk to Mr. Mcpherson tomorrow to get you some rest. I'll stay here with you tonight."
