Chapter 344 A Tearful Demetrius
Victor turned his head, and the second he saw Sharon, his eyes narrowed.
He'd just found out Sharon was alive and back with Seb's kid. But honestly, he couldn't care less, because he and Seb had fallen out ages ago. Sharon being back didn't change a thing.
After staring at Sharon for a few moments, he looked away, his face blank. "People who don't matter to us aren't worth our time," Victor said coolly.
Even though Victor sounded indifferent, Grace noticed his grip on the knife and fork tightening. He wasn't as chill as he seemed.
Grace put down her utensils, looked at Victor, and said slowly, "Victor, don't you think it's unfair? Sharon is fine and even had Seb's kid, but we got screwed over by Seb. Especially you. The Edwards Group almost went under. You've busted your ass to keep it afloat, dealing with all kinds of crap."
Victor sneered, "Grace, don't think I don't know what you're up to. You used me once five years ago. You think I'll let you do it again?"
Grace smiled, seeing he was onto her. "I'm just feeling sorry for you. You don't have the means to fight Seb now."
Victor's eyes narrowed. "Grace, stop trying to provoke me. It won't end well for you."
Grace knew that if they weren't in a restaurant, Victor would've hit her like before.
"Victor, don't forget, I just landed a big deal for the Edwards Group. Mr. Owens likes me a lot. If you hit me again and he sees the bruises, you might lose his support," Grace warned.
Robbie Owens owned a big food company in Metropolis. He was usually pretty laid-back, but he hated men who hit women. His dad used to beat his mom, and she ended up jumping off a building.
At a party, Robbie took a liking to Grace, and Victor had sent her to Robbie's bed. After some initial resistance, Robbie slept with her. No one knew what Grace had told Robbie, but lately, he frequently requested her company and had granted the Edwards Group several substantial contracts, which were enough to fuel their growth for a considerable period.
Victor and Grace were out for dinner because Grace had secured another deal. Victor was in a good mood and took her out to celebrate.
Victor suppressed his anger, but his gaze at Grace was still icy. "Know your place. No matter how powerful Mr. Owens is, he can't get you a divorce. Seb said we'd be together for life."
Grace's face went pale, and she lowered her head, but a flicker of something flashed in her eyes. She hadn't been able to divorce Victor in the past five years because after Seb lost his memory, Tyler kept the Edwards Group under pressure and warned her not to dream of divorcing Victor and going after Seb.
But now Tyler was dead, and Seb had lost his memory. Who would care if she and Victor divorced? If she could get Robbie on her side, he might help with the divorce. And as for Sharon, she wouldn't let that bitch off easy!
One scheme after another flashed through Grace's mind, her downcast eyes brimming with malice.
After dinner, Sharon dropped off Jake and Ariana, then headed out to pick up Demetrius. The moment she walked into the villa, she saw Seb and Demetrius on the living room floor, playing with building blocks. Demetrius was building fast, but Seb was even quicker, clearly not letting Demetrius win. By the time Demetrius was halfway done, Seb had already finished his.
"I won," Seb announced.
He sounded calm and indifferent, but if one looked closely, they could see the joy in his eyes.
Demetrius pouted, staying silent. He thought, 'Playing with Dad is no fun. I haven't won a single game tonight. Playing with Mom is way better.'
Seeing Demetrius a bit down, Seb raised an eyebrow. "If you want to beat me, you need a lot more practice."
"Okay," Demetrius replied, not too thrilled.
Suddenly, a chuckle came from the side. Both Demetrius and Seb turned to see Sharon standing by the sofa, smiling at them.
Today, Sharon was rocking a smoky gray trench coat, a cream-colored V-neck sweater, light jeans, and round-toed leather shoes. Her long hair was down, and she had light makeup on. She looked stunning.
Seb's eyes darkened, and he casually looked away. "You're here," he said.
Sharon nodded and caught Demetrius as he ran to her.
"Mom! You finally came to get me. I missed you so much!" Demetrius exclaimed, hugging her neck and kissing her cheek, his eyes sparkling with joy.
Seb felt a bit frustrated, thinking about how indifferent Demetrius had been to him during dinner.
Sharon looked at him with amusement. He wasn't missing her; he was just bummed out by his dad. After all, he often won games against his kindergarten classmates but kept losing to his dad. She figured if she had come a bit later, she might have found a tearful Demetrius.
"I missed you too. How was playing with Seb?" Sharon asked.
A hint of grievance flashed in Demetrius's eyes, and he turned his head arrogantly. "It was okay. I still like playing with Mom better."
Sharon couldn't help but laugh but didn't call him out. She looked up at Seb. "Mr. Smith, I'll take Demetrius home now."
Seb stood up. "I'll drive you."
"No need. I drove," Sharon replied.
"It's late. I'll feel better if I take you home myself," Seb insisted.
Sharon wanted to refuse, but Seb had already stood up, walked over, and took Demetrius from her arms, heading out of the villa. Sharon watched his steady back with a hint of helplessness but followed anyway.
On the way back, Seb drove Sharon's car, with the villa's driver following them. With Demetrius chatting away to Sharon, the car didn't feel so quiet. Seb occasionally glanced at Sharon through the rearview mirror, watching her gently respond to Demetrius. His gaze darkened, and his grip on the steering wheel tightened.
If he hadn't been so confident five years ago and had sent someone to protect her properly, this scene would have been heartwarming. The thought brought a pang of pain to his heart. He took a deep breath to suppress his emotions, focusing on driving.
The villa was quite a distance from Sharon's place, taking over an hour to get there. But when the car stopped downstairs, Seb felt like time had flown by way too quickly.
