Chapter 267 Has He Been Bothering You?

The next second, Jake's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree, and he blurted out, "Thanks a ton, Sharon!"

Sharon grinned, "Alright, let's get this show on the road."

With Sharon's help, the experiment went off without a hitch this time.

Around six in the morning, Jake glanced at the data on the computer and let out a big sigh of relief. He turned to share the good news with Sharon, only to find her passed out on the table.

He swallowed back his words and instinctively started tiptoeing around.

Last night, they had taken turns catching some Z's, but Sharon had pulled an all-nighter watching the experiment. She must be beat.

Ariana Stout gently draped a lab coat over Sharon, her movements way softer than her usual bouncy self.

She walked over to Jake and whispered, "Let Sharon catch some shut-eye. We'll wake her up at seven."

"Got it."

Jake and Ariana found seats nearby and started crunching the experimental data. The lab was filled with the sound of scribbling and Sharon's soft snores.

"Mr. Smith, this is our lab. Take a look."

Lavern swung open the lab door, letting Seb step in first.

As soon as he walked in, Seb's eyes landed on the slender figure snoozing on the table, and his expression darkened a bit.

Seeing Lavern, Jake and Ariana quickly stood up, "Mr. Mcpherson."

Lavern hadn't expected anyone to be in the lab so early, asking, "What are you guys doing here?"

Jake scratched his head, looking a bit sheepish, "There was a hiccup with some experimental data, so we redid the experiment last night. Thanks to Sharon, we nailed it."

Hearing this, Lavern noticed Sharon sleeping on the table and felt a bit worried. He cleared his throat and explained, "Mr. Smith, Sharon is always super dedicated to her experiments. She probably pulled an all-nighter and crashed here because she was too tired."

Seb said softly, "I get it."

At Lavern's signal, Ariana reluctantly got up to wake Sharon.

Sharon groggily opened her sore eyes, "Ariana, what's up? Is there a problem with the experimental data?"

Ariana shook her head, explaining, "Sharon, the data's all good. It's just that Mr. Mcpherson brought Mr. Smith to tour the lab, and everyone's watching you."

Hearing that, Sharon's sleepiness vanished instantly. She shot up and saw Seb and Lavern standing at the door, a hint of embarrassment flashing across her face.

"Mr. Mcpherson, Mr. Smith, morning."

Had she known Lavern would bring Seb to tour the lab today, she would've bailed earlier.

Seb's cold gaze fell on her face, a trace of confusion in his eyes.

Whenever Sharon saw him, she seemed a bit skittish. Was he that scary?

Lavern nodded, "Morning, Sharon. You've been working on the experiment all night and must be exhausted. Go home and get some rest."

Sharon was itching to leave and quickly said, "Okay."

With that, Sharon turned and headed for the back door.

During this time, Sharon could feel Seb watching her. It wasn't until she left the lab that the feeling went away.

As soon as she stepped out of the lab building, Sharon's eyes fell on a familiar car nearby.

It was Zachary's car.

Had Zachary been waiting for her all night?

Sharon quickly walked over and saw Zachary asleep, leaning against the seat. She knocked on the window.

Zachary opened his eyes and, seeing Sharon, immediately rolled down the window, asking, "Sharon, everything cool in the lab?"

Sharon nodded, "When did you roll up?"

"Not too long ago."

Sharon chuckled, "Then how do you explain those raccoon eyes?"

Zachary paused, then grinned, "Alright, you got me. I was worried you'd forget to hit me up, so I came over after Demetrius knocked out."

Sharon frowned and was about to say something when Zachary cut her off, "Alright, you’ve been up all night. You must be wiped. Hop in, and I'll take you home to crash."

"Okay."

She opened the car door and slid in. After she buckled up, Zachary started the car.

"Rest at my place. I got nothing on today and can hang with Demetrius."

Sharon hesitated for a moment but then shook her head, "Nah, I'll pick up Demetrius from your place and head home. You should get some real rest since you finally have a day off."

"It's cool. Playing with Demetrius is like a break for me, and he's probably still snoozing."

Facing Zachary's gentle eyes, Sharon couldn't bring herself to say no again.

She nodded. "Alright."

At that moment, by the lab window.

Seb watched Sharon get into Zachary's car, his eyes narrowing slightly.

On the way to the lab, Seb had felt a cold stare on him as soon as he got out of the car.

If Seb remembered right, that hostile look had come from the car Sharon had just hopped into.

Seeing Seb's indifferent expression, Lavern felt a bit uneasy, wondering if he was unhappy with the lab.

Lavern asked, "Mr. Smith, what do you think of our lab?"

Seb pulled his gaze back and looked at Lavern, "It's pretty solid. I'll keep my promise to fund your lab."

Hearing this, Lavern finally felt relieved and quickly said, "Awesome. If you have time now, Mr. Smith, we can sign the contract."

Corporate funding for the lab wasn't free, so both parties would sign agreements, like the lab giving the company free access to any developed drugs.

"Alright."

After signing the contract, Lavern was over the moon as this meant this year's research funding was locked in.

"Mr. Smith, do you have time today to grab a bite with me?"

"No need, I got other stuff to handle."

Lavern felt a bit bummed, "Maybe next time then."

Leaving the lab, Seb went straight to Silvercrest Group's branch in Aidamore.

Three years ago, Silvercrest Group had started setting up in Aidamore, prepping to enter the market. From the initial struggles to now having a solid foothold, only Seb's secretary knew the grind involved.

However, seeing the branch now occupying an entire building, Seb felt all the hard work was worth it.

Seb rested his chin on his hand, looking out the window, lost in thought.

Rufus, sitting in the front, didn't dare disturb him. Based on his years of working with Seb, he knew that when Seb's eyes were half-closed, it usually meant he was in a bad mood.

But nothing seemed to have happened today that would tick him off, right?

Meanwhile, on the way back, Zachary couldn't help but speak, "Sharon, I saw Seb today."

Sharon pressed her lips together, her expression unchanged, "Yeah, Seb is our lab's sponsor."

Hearing this, Zachary's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and he asked softly, "Has he been bugging you?"

"No, he has amnesia. You must've heard about it."

Surprise flashed in Zachary's eyes, and he nodded, "I did hear about it, but I didn't think it was legit."

Zachary was quiet for a moment, then looked at Sharon, "What do you think about it? I mean, Demetrius is..."
