Chapter 243 Don't Call Me Alex, You're Not Worthy

Sharon's eyes popped wide open.

She thought, 'Did Alex really make Ava come beg for my forgiveness? What the hell?'

Piecing together Alex's weird behavior lately and the stuff that went down the past few days, Sharon's eyes drifted to Ava's belly.

"That kid in your belly ain't Alex's, is it?"

Seeing Ava's face go stiff, Sharon knew she hit the mark.

But even if Ava's baby wasn't Alex's, it didn't make sense for Alex to suddenly grow a conscience and apologize.

'The only thing that makes sense is that Alex is actually the one who can't have kids! If that's the case, then everything clicks,' Sharon figured.

They'd been hitched for three years, and she still wasn't pregnant. Why did Alex show up looking all guilty, like he had something to say but couldn't? Turns out, he was the one shooting blanks!

Thinking about it, Sharon's eyes turned icy.

"Go back and tell him I don't give a damn about your problems, and tell him to stop grossing me out!"

Alex had used her supposed infertility to mess with her. Now that he knew he was the problem, he started acting all sorry. 'It's beyond disgusting,' Sharon thought.

"Ms. Wright, I know I've done a lot of crap to you and don't deserve your forgiveness. But if you're willing to save my parents and brother, I'll do anything, even give you my life."

Sharon didn't even flinch at Ava's plea.

She couldn't feel sorry for a homewrecker who ruined her family. Even though Ava exposed Alex's true colors, she had done plenty of nasty stuff herself.

"Your life means nothing to me. If you want something, go ask Alex. Begging me is pointless."

As Sharon turned to leave, Ava's face twisted in panic. She started shouting, begging Sharon to spare her and save her family.

But Sharon didn't even slow down and quickly vanished from Ava's sight.

Hatred and bitterness flared up in Ava. 'Sharon could save my family with just one word, but she chose to let them die!' she fumed.

Taking a deep breath, Ava slowly got up, took one last look where Sharon had disappeared, and then turned to leave.

Alex had just finished dinner when the butler told him Ava was at the door.

He grabbed a towel to wipe his hands and said with no emotion, "Let her in."

Ava walked into the living room. Alex lounged on the couch, looking at her with dead eyes.

"Did Sharon forgive you?"

Ava bit her lip and dropped to her knees. "Alex, Ms. Wright won't forgive me. Please, can you let me go?"

Alex chuckled and grabbed her chin. "You plotted to make me divorce Sharon and then tried to pass off your bastard as mine. You think I can just let that slide?"

His eyes were ice-cold, and Ava felt a shiver run down her spine, trembling.

Ava knew Alex was ruthless, but she didn't think her lies would blow up in her face so fast.

"Alex."

"Don't say my name. You're not worth it."

Ava bit her lip, tears welling up, looking pitiful.

"Mr. Smith, what do I have to do for you to let me go?"

Alex let go of her chin and looked down at her. "I told you, go get Sharon to forgive you. If she does, I'll let you go."

Despair hit Ava like a ton of bricks. Both she and Alex knew Sharon would never forgive her.

"Mr. Smith, are you trying to push me to the edge?"

"If you wanna die, no one's stopping you. But are you really ready to go that far?" He said it slowly, each word like a dagger.

Ava dropped her gaze, too scared to look him in the eye.

Alex stood up and walked out without a backward glance.

That night, Ava tried to end it all.

Luckily, someone found her in time and rushed her to the hospital, saving her life.

When Alex heard about it, he just shrugged and said, "Whatever."

Joseph felt a twinge of pity for Ava. No matter what, she had been with Alex. He didn't expect Alex to be so cold.

Joseph couldn't help but wonder, 'If I'm ever no use to Alex, will he treat me the same way?'

He shook off the thought and left Alex's office.

Ava stayed in the hospital for a few days, but Alex never showed up. She finally got it—she could die right in front of him, and he wouldn't even blink.

'Looks like Sharon's the key to getting out of this mess,' Ava thought.

Just as she was about to go find Sharon, she got a call from Grace.

They met at a café near the hospital. Seeing Ava's pale face and bandaged hand, Grace's eyes sparkled with mockery.

"What do you want from me?"

Grace smirked, "I heard Alex made you kneel at Sharon's place to beg for forgiveness, and she didn't even give you the time of day?"

"What’s it to you?" Ava's face was cold, her eyes shooting daggers at Grace.

"Look at you, all pathetic. You've lost the baby, and Alex kicked you to the curb. If I don't help you, you're on your own!"

"I don't need your help. And by the way, did you tell Alex about that?"

Grace shook her head. "I told you on the phone, it wasn't me. Besides, I found something you might wanna see."

Grace handed Ava a document. "Read it. If you wanna team up, call me."

Ava flipped through the document, her face growing colder with each page.

"Is this for real?"

"If you don't believe me, ask Alex. I think Sharon said something to Alex during their two meetings after she got pregnant, which made Alex suspect his own infertility and get re-tested."

Seeing Ava stay silent, Grace sighed, "If I were you, I wouldn't let Sharon get away with what she did."

Ava slammed the document on the table. "I'm not helping you. If you wanna go after Sharon, do it yourself!"

With that, she stormed out.

Grace just smiled, not stopping her. Whether Ava liked it or not, she'd soon be a pawn in her game.

After leaving the café, the more Ava thought about it, the angrier she got, and her hatred for Sharon grew.

She wouldn't be in this mess if it weren't for Sharon.

She wanted revenge on Sharon but didn't want to be Grace's puppet.

Taking a deep breath, Ava hailed a cab and left.

In the days that followed, Ava knelt at the gate of Sharon's community every day, from morning till night.

Gradually, more people noticed, and the story blew up online. People dug up her past with Sharon and Alex, and soon, Sharon was under a microscope.
