Chapter 567 No Need for Your Fake Help
Carolyn set down the file and squinted, "Who told you?"
Sharon stared at her coldly, "Does it really matter? If you don't stick to our deal, I'm not gonna be your puppet anymore."
Meeting Sharon's icy gaze, Carolyn let out a mocking laugh and leaned back in her chair, her eyes filled with disdain.
"You think you have a choice?"
From the moment Sharon agreed to come to Stellaria, she lost any right to choose or negotiate. Sharon was naive to think Carolyn would honor their agreement.
Giving Seb's company resources to strengthen it and then opposing her? Carolyn would have to be insane to cultivate an enemy. Sharon had no choice but to comply, whether she liked it or not.
Sharon looked at her for a moment, then nodded, "Fine, I get it."
With that, she turned and left.
Watching her retreating figure, Carolyn's eyes darkened, her face expressionless.
Back in her bedroom, Sharon took out her phone and sent a message to Seb. He didn't reply immediately. Sharon wasn't in a hurry; she pulled out her laptop and started searching for information on the Stoll family.
Over an hour later, Seb finally responded with a single word: [Okay.]
Sharon deleted their chat history and continued browsing news about the Stoll family.
As the sun set, a servant knocked on her door, calling her to dinner.
When she arrived at the dining room, she saw Carolyn and Alton, along with Daisy and a young man about Daisy's age. Sharon recognized him from photos; he was Carolyn's son, Gareth Stoll.
Gareth showed no hostility, instead looking at her with curiosity, intrigued by her presence.
The dining table was large, and Sharon sat at the only remaining place set with utensils, ignoring Gareth's inquisitive gaze and Daisy's hostility.
Carolyn glanced at her coldly, seeing her compliance, and said, "Serve the food."
During dinner, Daisy, Gareth, Alton, and Carolyn chatted and laughed, creating a harmonious atmosphere. From Carolyn's tone, Sharon could tell she genuinely liked her nephew and her younger children.
Sharon ate quietly, feeling surprisingly calm, without the expected sadness or resentment.
After finishing her meal, she put down her utensils and stood up, "I'm done. Enjoy your meal."
Her words caused a brief pause in the lively atmosphere. Carolyn looked at her with displeasure.
"Don't you have any table manners? Can't you see we haven't finished eating? Wait until we're done before leaving!"
Sharon looked at Carolyn, knowing she wasn't concerned about manners but simply wanted to make things difficult for her.
"Ms. Roach, I'm sorry, but my mother only had me and didn't teach me the table manners you speak of, so I don't have them. You should understand that, right?"
With that, Sharon turned and left.
"Sharon, stop right there!"
Carolyn's angry voice echoed behind her, but Sharon ignored it, quickening her pace.
Soon, Sharon's figure disappeared down the hallway.
The dining room's previously lively atmosphere turned tense. Gareth and Daisy, seeing Carolyn's dark expression, dared not speak. They both respected and feared Carolyn. When she was angry, they became cautious, not daring to act recklessly.
Alton looked at Carolyn's furious face and couldn't help but say, "Aunt Carolyn, why make a big deal out of this? Besides, you broke the agreement first; you can't blame her for being upset."
Carolyn shot him a cold look, "Shut up!"
She had seen all kinds of people in her life; she didn't believe she couldn't handle Sharon.
Alton's eyes showed helplessness, but he didn't argue further. He knew Carolyn's personality well; she wasn't one to listen to others. Her actions would only push Sharon further away, and their fragile blood ties might snap at any moment.
Gareth and Daisy finished their meal quietly and left. When only Alton and Carolyn remained, he spoke again, "Aunt Carolyn, I hope you consider what I said today. If you go against Silvercrest Group, it will only drive Sharon away. Don't forget, you still need her for many things."
Carolyn's face remained expressionless, "I've thought it through. I won't cultivate a competitor, and she's already in the estate; she can't do anything!"
Alton shook his head, "Aunt Carolyn, I've said what I needed to. How you proceed is up to you."
With that, Alton stood and left.
Outside, Gareth and Daisy walked through the garden. Daisy pulled Gareth aside.
"Gareth, do you think Mom really plans to let that woman inherit the Stoll family?"
Gareth's face darkened, "No way. You could tell from dinner that Mom is very unhappy with her. There's no way she'd let her manage the Stoll family."
Gareth was confident. Recently, his tutor had started teaching him how to manage the company and family. If Carolyn hadn't instructed this, the tutor wouldn't dare.
Thinking of this, Gareth smiled. He believed he was Carolyn's chosen heir for the Stoll family.
"But she disrespected Mom, and Mom didn't do anything. Mom has never treated us like that."
Whenever Carolyn showed displeasure, they knew they had upset her and didn't dare act out. But Sharon could do as she pleased, and Carolyn hadn't punished her. Daisy felt jealous.
Gareth looked at the night sky, his voice low, "Daisy, you just need to know that we are Mom's favorite children. That's enough."
"But..."
Before Daisy could finish, Gareth walked quickly towards the door. She hesitated, then saw Alton leaving the estate and hurried to catch up with Gareth.
Gareth stopped Alton, "Alton, what did you talk to Mom about today?"
Alton looked at Gareth, seeing his curiosity, and raised an eyebrow, "Gareth, we discussed business matters. You wouldn't understand now. Your priority is school; don't worry about other things."
"I have one more question. Did Mom bring Sharon to Stellaria to make her the Stoll family heir?"
Alton chuckled, "Didn't you already have your own answer before asking me?"
Gareth was silent for a moment before speaking, "I just wanted to confirm if my thoughts were correct."
"For your mother, you and Daisy are the most important."
With that, Alton left.
Once he was in his car, he leaned back and rubbed his temples, then addressed his assistant, "How's Silvercrest Group holding up?"
"They're still struggling, but they probably won't last much longer."
Alton fell silent for a while before speaking slowly, "Help Silvercrest Group."
The assistant was taken aback and turned to look at Alton, "Mr. Roach, if Carolyn finds out, she'll be furious."
"I'll handle Carolyn. Just do as I say."
The assistant hesitated but then nodded, "Alright, I understand."
Alton looked out the window and couldn't help but sigh. He was starting to think that bringing Sharon to Stellaria had been a mistake.
The assistant quickly contacted Paul, offering their help, but was met with rejection.
"Mr. Roach, Silvercrest Group refused our help."
The assistant's face darkened, thinking Silvercrest Group was being arrogant. Alton was offering help, and they had the nerve to refuse. They'd realize their mistake when they were on the brink of bankruptcy.
Alton frowned and dialed Seb's number. The phone rang for a long time before Seb's cold voice answered.
"Mr. Roach, what do you want?"
"Mr. Smith, I know Silvercrest Group is in a bad situation. If this continues, you won't last another month. I genuinely want to help, with no ulterior motives. You don't need to be so wary of me."
"Mr. Roach, you're overthinking it. Silvercrest Group doesn't need your help, but I appreciate the offer. I have a lot of work to do, so I'll leave it at that."
"Wait!" Alton's voice was stern, "Mr. Smith, did you know Sharon had a huge fight with Carolyn over Silvercrest Group? If you want her back with you and Demetrius, the most important thing now is to save Silvercrest Group, not your pride."
There was silence on the other end for a long time before Seb spoke again.
"Mr. Roach, you played a big part in Sharon leaving me and Demetrius. Don't come here pretending to be a good guy now."
With that, Seb hung up.
Alton put down his phone and told his assistant, "Book me a flight to Metropolis, as soon as possible!"
If Silvercrest Group went bankrupt, Sharon would never forgive Carolyn, and their relationship would deteriorate even further. The Stoll family was already chaotic enough; if Sharon and Carolyn weren't on the same side, others might seize the opportunity.
He couldn't let that happen. Silvercrest Group couldn't go bankrupt now.
The assistant looked puzzled, not understanding why Alton was so eager to help.
"Mr. Roach, why are you so insistent on helping them when they don't appreciate it?"
Alton gave him a half-smile, "Since when do you get to question my decision? Want to switch places and sit in my chair?"
The assistant's head lowered immediately, "I'm sorry, Mr. Roach. I spoke out of turn."
Alton said nothing more, his presence making the assistant feel like he was sitting on pins and needles. He quickly booked the flight.
Ten minutes later.
"Mr. Roach, I've booked the earliest flight for tomorrow morning at 8 AM."
"Good." Alton responded lazily and said no more.
The assistant, aware of his earlier mistake, kept quiet, wishing he could disappear.
Meanwhile, in the Silvercrest Group CEO's office in Metropolis, Seb handed a signed contract to Jesse, smiling, "Mr. Scott, looking forward to our cooperation."
Jesse smiled back, "Likewise."
After leaving Silvercrest Group and getting into his car, Jesse made a call.
"Hello, I've signed the contract with Silvercrest Group. What's next?"
"Nothing more. Return to Stellaria quickly and don't let Carolyn suspect anything."
"Understood."
Jesse hung up and smirked. Since Alton and Carolyn wouldn't give him a chance, he had to find another way. The Stoll family might seem calm on the surface, but there were turbulent undercurrents. He couldn't put all his eggs in one basket.
He put away the contract and told his secretary, "Book a flight back to Stellaria."
Once back in Stellaria, he planned to visit Sharon.
The next evening, Alton arrived at Metropolis airport and headed straight to Silvercrest Group.
Seb met him but was cold, "Mr. Roach, I already told you on the phone, Silvercrest Group doesn't need your help. Please leave."
Alton blocked his way, "Mr. Smith, now is not the time for pride. If Silvercrest Group goes bankrupt, you'll lose any chance of being with Sharon."
Seb's gaze was icy, "Mr. Roach, what right do you have to mention Sharon? If it weren't for you, Carolyn wouldn't have come, and Sharon wouldn't have left me and Demetrius. Carolyn thinks she can do whatever she wants by keeping Sharon at Stellaria, but one day, I'll bring Sharon back!"
"Mr. Smith, I know you have grievances against me and Carolyn, but the priority now is saving Silvercrest Group."
"Don't worry, Silvercrest Group won't go bankrupt, and we don't need your fake help. I see right through the Roach family."
Without waiting for Alton's reaction, Seb walked away. Alton tried to follow, but Paul stopped him.
"Mr. Roach, please leave."
