Chapter 86 Uncle Seb, Do You Really Have to Force Me?

David shook his head. "With that temper of yours, I wonder which woman could ever put up with you."

Seb didn't respond, focusing on picking up the chess pieces on the board.

David said again, "Let's go, it's time to eat."

At the dinner table, he kept talking to Seb, almost to the point of flattery.

Sharon ate a little before putting down her utensils and saying, "I'm done; you guys take your time."

When she finished speaking, everyone at the table looked at her.

Clara frowned, clearly displeased, but said nothing.

Alex turned to her and said gently, "Is the food not to your liking tonight?"

Sharon shook her head. "No, I'm really full. I remember leaving some clothes in your room last time I was here. I'm going to see if I can find that dress I liked."

He nodded. "Okay."

Clara initially thought she could just have a servant find the dress, but then reconsidered. If Sharon wanted to look for it herself, so be it; less trouble for the servants.

Entering Alex's bedroom, Sharon locked the door and quickly walked to the balcony.

After ensuring no one was around, she carefully climbed over.

Entering the study, she looked around. She first searched David's desk, finding only company documents.

Then, she rummaged through the drawers but found nothing.

It seemed she'd have to look elsewhere.

When she was about to leave, she heard footsteps and voices approaching the study door.

Her face changed; it was too late to leave now. She quickly hid behind the curtains by the window.

The next second, the study door opened. David's voice and footsteps grew closer. "Seb, you know I've never asked you for anything, no matter how hard things got. However, the company is really in trouble this time. If you help me through this, I'll pay you back with interest."

If the company wasn't really struggling and Tyler wasn't refusing him money, David wouldn't have asked Seb.

Seb's expression was indifferent. When he was about to reply, he glanced at the curtains by the window.

Emotionless, he retracted his gaze. As David was about to sit in the chair facing the curtains, Seb said, "David, sit across from me."

David looked puzzled. "Why?"

"I like this spot."

He was speechless.

He got up and sat in the chair across from Seb. He then looked at Seb and said, "What do you think about the funding issue I mentioned earlier?"

Seb's expression turned cold again. "I need to think about it. It's not a small amount."

"I know, but Silvercrest Group is a big company. A billion dollars wouldn't make much of a dent."

Seb remained silent, his face expressionless.

Sensing his displeasure, David sighed. "Seb, you know me. I wouldn't come to you unless I had no other choice."

Seb replied indifferently, "Got it. I'll think about it."

They talked business for a while longer before leaving the study.

Sharon emerged from behind the curtains, quickly climbing back over the balcony.

She texted Brian to investigate what was wrong with David's company. Then, she grabbed a random piece of clothing from the wardrobe and prepared to leave.

As she opened the door, she was startled by a tall figure standing there; nearly screaming.

The next second, Seb covered her mouth and pushed her back inside.

Closing the bedroom door, he pinned her against it.

He looked down at Sharon, his expression icy as he observed her. "What were you doing, sneaking into my brother's study?"

Sharon was taken aback, her face turning pale. So Seb had noticed her earlier.

She replied, "Uncle Seb, what are you talking about? I don't understand."

He chuckled coldly, but there was no warmth in his eyes. "You were hiding behind the window curtains. If you don't admit it, I'll go tell my brother and see if anything is missing from his study."

Her face turned white. She hadn't taken anything from the study, but David would be on guard if he found out.

It would be much harder for her to get into David's study again, but she couldn't reveal her true purpose, either.

Seeing Sharon biting her lip and staying silent, Seb sneered and moved to open the door.

She quickly stopped him, grabbing his hand in desperation.

His body stiffened, his gaze turning deep and dangerous as he looked at her. "Let go!"

She gritted her teeth. "Uncle Seb, must you force me?"

He smiled coldly. "Sharon, do you know what would happen if my brother found you in his study?"

Sharon didn't even know David's true nature, yet she dared do such a thing.

If David had caught her, she might've disappeared from this world without a trace.

After all, it wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.

Sharon's grip on Seb's hand tightened, her face even paler under the incandescent light.

"Still won't talk?" he said.

She took a deep breath and said slowly, "I was looking for my marriage certificate with Alex."

"Why would that be with my brother?" Seb's eyes were filled with suspicion, clearly not believing her.

She bit her lip and continued, "When we got married, Alex said he'd keep the certificate with his parents. I agreed initially, but now I want it back."

His expression turned mocking. "Why are you looking for that now? Are you planning to forgive him?"

"That's just temporary. If he cheats again, I'll definitely divorce him. I can't keep forgiving him endlessly, right?"

Seeing her poor acting, Seb's eyes grew colder, but he didn't expose her.

He would slowly uncover her true intentions.

Just as he was about to speak, there was a furious knocking at the door.

Alex's angry voice came through. "Sharon, open the door. Is Uncle Seb in there?"

Sharon's eyes filled with panic as she looked at Seb.

If Alex saw him, he would definitely make a scene.

Meeting her pleading eyes, Seb's breath hitched. He quickly looked away, his expression turning cold.

Seeing his lack of reaction, she pleaded softly, "Uncle Seb, can you hide?"

"I have nothing to be ashamed of; why should I?"

The furious knocking continued, with Alex's voice growing angrier as if he might break the door down any time. "Sharon Wright, open the door! Are you two doing something shameful in there?"

"Please, just this once." she said.

Seeing her almost in tears, he said coldly, "Just this once."

With that, he quickly walked to the balcony and jumped over it.

She covered her mouth, eyes wide in disbelief.

He had actually jumped from the second floor!

Just then, the bedroom door lock was forcibly turned. Alex stormed in, furious.

Seeing only Sharon in the room, he glared at her coldly. "Where's Uncle Seb?"

"How should I know? I fell asleep on the bed."

Alex sneered, "Fell asleep?"

If he believed that, he would be an idiot.

"Yeah, what else? And why would Uncle Seb be in your bedroom? Are you that eager to get cheated on?" when she said that, Alex grabbed her wrist and threw her onto the bed, his tall body pressing down on her.

"Sharon, you'd better not play games with me!" his cold hand moved slowly down her face like a venomous snake, making her shiver uncontrollably.

She stared back at him coldly. "If you don't believe me, find him. Otherwise, I won't let this go!"

He stared at her. Seeing no guilt in her eyes, he began to doubt himself.

Had he really misunderstood? But he clearly saw Seb go upstairs earlier.

Just then, a servant's voice came from the door. "Mr. Alex, Mr. David wants to see you downstairs. He has something to discuss."

"Got it, I'm coming."

After the servant left, he released Sharon's hands and stood up, saying coldly, "I'll believe you this time. You'd better behave yourself!"
