Chapter 575 I'm Not Joking with You
Carolyn raised an eyebrow and leaned back in her chair, her gaze mocking as she looked at Sharon.
"I thought you were gonna make some big demands. Is this it?"
Her tone was dripping with disdain, as if she were ridiculing Sharon for not taking the opportunity to ask for more.
Sharon's expression remained cold. "Yeah, that's the condition."
"Fine, I agree. You can sign now, right?"
Without wasting any time, Sharon picked up the pen and signed her name on the last page, capped the pen, placed it on the document, and turned to leave.
Watching her retreating figure, Carolyn narrowed her eyes, picked up the document to confirm the signature, and immediately called her assistant to start the legal process.
The news that Carolyn had transferred all shares of Carter Tech Company to Sharon quickly spread through Stellaria's high society.
Some believed Carolyn was genuinely grooming Sharon to be the heir of the Stoll family. After all, Carter Tech Company generated billions of dollars annually for the family, making it one of their most profitable enterprises.
Even Gareth and Daisy, who had grown up by Carolyn's side, were only given smaller companies. Carolyn had never intended to groom them as her successors.
While some believed the news, others were skeptical, and some still refused to believe it.
For those who doubted, the idea that Carolyn would let Sharon, who hadn't lived with her for years, inherit the family business seemed implausible.
The next morning, Carolyn had a servant wake Sharon up.
Sharon was disturbed by the knocking, checked the time, and saw it was only 6:30 AM, with the sky still dark outside.
She frowned, initially intending to ignore it, but the knocking continued rhythmically, showing no signs of stopping.
It seemed the knocking would persist until she got up to open the door.
Already a light sleeper, Sharon couldn't fall back asleep with the noise, so she reluctantly got up to open the door.
The servant's face was expressionless. "Ms. Sharon Roach, Madam asked me to wake you. Please be ready by 7:00 AM, washed and dressed, and then meet her in the study."
Sharon frowned. "Is this her new way of torturing me?"
"Ms. Sharon Roach, I've delivered Madam's message. I have other tasks to attend to."
With that, the servant turned and left.
Sharon closed the door, no longer feeling sleepy, and went to the bathroom to wash up and change clothes before heading to the study.
At the study door, she pushed it open and walked in.
Carolyn frowned, displeased with Sharon's lack of knocking, but didn't bother to scold her, knowing it would be futile.
"You had a servant wake me up early to come to the study. Must be something urgent, right?"
Detecting the sarcasm in Sharon's tone, Carolyn's face turned grim. "Of course there's something important. Starting tomorrow, you'll wake up at 6:30 AM, be ready by 7:00 AM, and someone will teach you how to manage the company. You'll study at home in the morning and handle company affairs in the afternoon."
Sharon chuckled. "So I'm basically imprisoned here, with set wake-up and study times. Should I get a sewing machine too?"
Carolyn's eyes were icy. "I'm not joking. You signed the share transfer agreement last night. From today, you're the owner of Carter Tech Company. You have one month to learn how to manage it."
"Sorry, I refuse."
"If you refuse, you'll never see Robert again."
Sharon's expression changed, and she gritted her teeth. "I knew I shouldn't have trusted you last night! You're completely untrustworthy!"
Carolyn sneered. "Did you really think signing a paper was all you had to do? You have three minutes to decide whether to follow my instructions or refuse and never see Robert again."
Sharon took a deep breath and gritted her teeth. "Fine, I'll do as you say."
Carolyn wasn't surprised by the outcome.
"You can go have breakfast now. Since today is the first day, your teacher will come at 8:00 AM. Starting tomorrow, lessons begin at 7:00 AM. If you're late, you won't see Robert for a week. So if you plan any tricks, consider the consequences first."
Sharon said nothing and left.
After breakfast, it was nearly 7:40 AM.
The servant led Sharon to the study next to the hall, which had a desk, two chairs, and a wall of bookshelves filled with business-related books. Sharon glanced at them, uninterested.
"Ms. Sharon Roach, Madam said to wait here for the teacher."
"Got it."
After the servant left, Sharon sat down and started counting the books on the first shelf out of boredom.
She had no interest in business and was still tired from waking up early. As she counted, she grew sleepy and eventually fell asleep on the desk.
Meanwhile, in Carolyn's study.
Gareth, having learned that Carolyn transferred all shares of Carter Tech Company to Sharon, came to confront her.
"Mom, you said you'd only give CTC to me or Daisy. Why did you go back on your word and transfer all shares to Sharon? You know how important CTC is to me!"
Among the Stoll family's companies, Gareth cared most about Carter Tech Company.
He believed the future belonged to AI, and Carter Tech Company was renowned for its graphics cards, essential for AI model calculations and more. He had always wanted Carter Tech Company.
He thought Carolyn might give Sharon a few companies, but never Carter Tech Company.
Today's events felt like a slap in the face, and he was the last to know, informed by a friend.
Carolyn set down her documents and looked at Gareth, seeing the resentment and anger in his eyes.
"Gareth, I've told you, the Stoll family's future is yours, but not now. I don't need to explain my actions to you. I can only promise that Carter Tech Company will be yours someday. For now, just follow my instructions."
Gareth's face turned grim, his eyes cold. "When is 'someday'? A year? Two years? Ten years? Mom, I know you want people to believe you're handing the Stoll family to Sharon, but there are better choices than Carter Tech Company. Why did you choose CTC?"
"I'm starting to doubt if you really intend to give the Stoll family to Sharon, and that's why you gave her CTC!"
The atmosphere in the study grew tense.
Carolyn glared at him, anger boiling in her eyes. "Gareth, after all I've planned for you, is this how you think of me?"
Gareth's face was livid, refusing to back down. "Mom, it's not about what I think. Your actions make me question you. There are several companies as good as CTC. Why not give Sharon one of those instead?"
Carolyn took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "I said I don't need to explain. And with your current abilities, you wouldn't understand even if I did."
"If you don't explain, I won't help you anymore."
Carolyn slammed the table, furious. "Say that again?"
Gareth gritted his teeth, but remained silent, his expression still angry.
The study fell silent, they staring at each other, neither speaking, the air growing thin.
After a long time, Carolyn waved her hand, tired. "Leave. If you won't listen to me, don't expect to inherit the Stoll family."
She had intended Gareth to be her heir, but his behavior today disappointed her.
As the future head of the Stoll family, he focused only on immediate gains, lacking a broader vision.
If the Stoll family were handed to someone like him, it would decline within ten years.
She would only give the Stoll family to someone she deemed worthy. If Gareth didn't improve, she would consider a different heir.
Gareth's face turned pale, but his first reaction was anger, not fear.
"Mom, why wouldn't you give it to me? I'm your only son. If not me, who? Sharon? Daisy? One hates you, the other is a useless fool."
"Shut up!" Carolyn stood, her chest heaving with anger, pointing at him. "Get out!"
Gareth snorted and left, slamming the door.
Carolyn sank into her chair, momentarily dazed, but soon regained her composure and resumed her work.
Meanwhile, Gareth went to find Daisy, telling her about Carolyn giving Carter Tech Company to Sharon.
Daisy was equally furious. "Why would Mom do that? She said she'd give CTC to you. Does she really want that bitch to inherit the Stoll family?"
